- A Dwarves Guide to Glyphids 1 | Deep Rock Galactic Nature Documentary & Survival Guide
Within the dying planet Hoxxes IV, an abundance of valuable rocks and stones demand to be mined.
No one is better equipped to recover these minerals, than the irresponsibly managed employees of the Deep Rock Galactic Mining Corporation.
This documentary will provide new employees with essential knowledge to better survive the planet's unique and hostile wildlife, completing mission objectives with their lives intact.
In this episode, we reveal the many subspecies of Glyphids that dwarves may encounter when exploring the caves, providing field tested tactics to take each hostile creature down.
We hope you enjoy :)
Thanks for watching ♡

Hey everyone - if you havent seen it yet, we have released another Glyphid Episode covering new creatures that have been added in recent updates, aswell as correcting a few errors!
You can part 2 here: th-cam.com/video/NliclyVUS1M/w-d-xo.html
ROCK AND STONE!
Didn't know National Geographic covered glyphids
to compile a list of additions/corrections into one comment:
the abdomens of Glyphids are often used for cooling, which is why the Praetorians and Dreadnought have it unarmored/lightly armored
speaking of Praetorians, the Oppressor is a grossly mutated Praetorian, and keeps the same open rear weapoint
Bulk Detonators are simply Exploders that have survived without exploding to the point their carapace is much more sturdy, with the Crassus having one of (if not the top) the highest defenses
along with that, killing an Exploder by damaging the face will prevent it from exploding entirely
as someone else mentioned, the Radioactive Praetorian has a higher movement speed than normal
Dreadnoughts as a whole are actually the result of an interrupted gestation process (which leads to theories about a Mother Glyphid that once existed, hence the line "Die like your mother did!")
as others have said, the Brood Nexus isn't related to Glyphids, because we know the Glyphids start life as eggs, as far as Deep Rock can tell, they clone the DNA of other creatures (in this case, Glyphids) as a defense mechanism
Web Spitters and Acid Spitters are close cousins, evolutionarily speaking
other Glyphids will take cover behind Glyphid Guards because of how hardy they are (20-30% resistance, stat-wise)
Glyphid Menaces are, explicitly, *not* closely related to Acid Spitters (I know you didn't say it, but it felt worth mentioning)
Wardens use specifically "performance-enhancing pheromones and telepathic conditioning", which is.. certainly an interesting evolution
if I missed anything (specifically about the Glyphids), feel free to add it!
(I just want additions and corrections in one space, as mentioned before)
I'm pretty sure Slashers and Guards are supposed to just be older grunts that have developed into a specialized role, rather than a separate variant.
When they were added they replaced another Grunt variant that was called Veteran, iirc, which were basically older grunts that were slightly stronger and didnt look as noticeably different.
With Dreadnought Twins, isn't it better to distribute the damage equally. As when they heal, the one with less health heals to the point of the other one.
@@biggyboom7358 that's right, actually
there is a single scripted heal moment, the others trigger on there being a big enough difference in health
the Twin with higher hp takes1/4 of the difference in damage while the weaker one heals 3/4 of the difference
regardless of how much is healed, their armor completely regenerates as well
@@rydergolde3169I'm yet to confirm this but I have seen people be able to shred the armour off of the twins during the heal phase.
You can shoot Septic spreader goo out of the air btw
of course the stalker isn't here because it was invisible
And it didn't exist yet.
Really well prododuced, but one glaring error when discussing the twins. You say, "its advised to focus on one twin at a time, as they are much weaker alone," but the twins' main gimmick is designed to trick gamer's instincts on this.
If you choose to focus on one twin, the other can heal the endangered one, at a very slight cost to its own health. The fight goes on several times longer than it needs to if you focus on one twin at a time.
Also, once one twin is dead, the other twin becomes stronger and more aggressive.
"Hoxxes IV stealthiest Creature"
Glyphid Stalker: *Allow me to introduce myself*
my least favorite variant so far
And then burrow
@@Purrfect_Werecat How dare you
(I love the Stalker. So satisfying to find it before it reveals itself)
Small fact on exploders. If you shoot their mouth head thing they will not explode and will just die peacefully.
Just like people
I always wondered why that happened sometimes. I was never observant (or accurate) enough to learn that on my own. Thanks!
same if they are frozen while killed or if you use the wave cooker as driller
many glyphids were harmed in the making of this video
Good
I suggest that the Twin to be delt equal damage or at least switched focus often to keep as similar HP levels. This stops them from healing due to the lack of health one has over the other. The larger the diffrence, the more the lower HP Twin is healed. With that more time and Ammo used to deal with them.
Yea, that's always a strategy
Except you already did damage to them, so you really sure you will burst one of them (C4, Grenades, Team damage, even Bulk Detonator, who can one shot them)
@gentozik ahh yeah. I normally play solo so I'm used to switching alot. God I wish I had teammates or a bluck detonator to nuke them
@@jeremytng3154 Bulk detonator is really rare, but really fun way to kill it as as the supply pods, for example, so it's insanely impractical
Brood Nexus are not a glyphids. They have glyphid in their name but that's only because they create Glyphid Spawn.
"While we know for a fact that Glyphids hatch from eggs, these malodorous, organic protuberances nonetheless expel freshly birthed and ravenous Glyphid Swarmers. It's theorized that the Brood Nexus is a completely separate genus, somehow able to replicate the DNA of other species, and use their "designs" for its own protection."
They are something other than a glyphid, they're a creature that basically replicates glyphid swarmers (assumably because they're the simplest to copy) and spits them out for defense.
-Fellow Hoxxes IV researcher.
Well i can't tell a monkey wrench and a glyphids arse apart😂
Found management's alt account
"the exploder, the stealthiest"
the new stalker: "about that..."
🤣 haha! We better get back in the caves and start working on the next episode! Season 5 has brought in so many new things for us to cover :)
Explorers (smaller, bigger) are the stealthiest ones, but at least they will prepare for blowing up, so you have time to react
Yea, stalker also can inform that it's here, but it will only put me in panic, like "where this piece of bug is", and after that it will always stab on the back
This is a great video and very well done. Great job. Hope you continue to grow with your unique way of game nature documentaries.
Here is an idea. Is it possible you could make a video or an addon comparing glyphid sizes from smallest to largest and possibly comparing them to a dwarfs height? It will give a very interesting idea how large and formidable these creatures are. Also gives us an estimation how huge they could be in real life.
What do you think?
Thank you for your kind words and best wishes @sunblade7896 ♡ We are glad you enjoyed the video.
Great suggestion, that is an excellent idea, we appreciate you sharing! We will definitely do a size comparison, possibly within the upcoming Mactera and Naedocyte episodes. Thanks again and Welcome to the Tribe!
@@TheApatheticApes Your welcome and great. It brings excitement to the possible futures.
Are you thinking about meshing the glyphid size comparisons together with the other species or doing them both separate and meshed? Either way, whatever you do, it's going to turn out great.
We are still in the writing stage of the Mactera & Naedocyte episode, so we're not 100% sure yet :) both ways are viable options tbh! Thanks @sunblade7896, we appreciate the vote of confidence ♡♡
This makes me feel like watching national geographic
well done
Remake for stalker please
Don't worry, we are working on another episode to cover any creatures that have been added with updates!
Life of Rock and stone
and here i thought they were all glyphids
Well this is underappreciated. Style is great, images and video also really good, but information is somewhat lacking, many comments already stated quite a couple of errors.
Also one more piece, radioactively mutated glyphid praetorian is almost twice as fast as normal one.
Definitely agree on us missing a few pieces of information out, we doubled our research time for Mactera and Neadocyte after releasing this episode, to ensure we are factually correct going forward!
Appreciate the feedback and kind words!
But, with that said, amazing video. FOR ROCK AND STONE!
Rock'n Stone!
Nice to see a new deep rock video
Apart from a few little larger errors already mentioned, this is quite factual and nice. The only nitpick I have is that Oppressors are actually just old Praetorians- One that has lived long enough to become a miniature Dreadnought unto itself.
i would like to think any little swarmling living long enough could grow up to become an oppressor or dreadnought of they don't get killed for long enough
In addition to being an entertaining video for a long-term player like me, this was actually very informative as well. For example, I didn't know that Glyphid Wardens only increase physical resistance.
Same I thought they healed them
The official DRG wiki says "Defense Enhance, the buff provided by the Warden, grants its allies restoration of 3.5 health every 1.5 seconds and x0.5 damage resistance, lasting 2 seconds", so is also a healer
wer rich!
One thing about the Septic Spreader you did not meantion is that when it attacks, you can shoot the projectile and it will stop it and will split into four
Didn't realise this was something that could be done! Appreciate the advice from a veteran dwarf 😉 Rock and Stone brother ⛏️ ⚒️
rock and stone
Algorithm, do your thing!
Super high quality video, very cool
Dang, I guess I’m here early. Great video either way!
I love the runes for the dwarven language
now this is the type of content l like
tyvm for this video, very helpful overview for someone like me who just started playing
I love these videos so much keep up the great work
I love the video. Your voice is really perfect for this. Tho I do wish you would update the video.
How this video got 16 Thousand views?
I mean, the avrage for the channel is around just 1 thousand.
average Tuesday in Australia
Amazing video❤ you deserve a lot more
what abaout stalker he is anoing so it would be a plesure seeing him in the video
He was not in the game.
bro 😭😭😭
Remake with David Attenborough ai voice
you maybe should have read he in game bestiary before going and making stuff up about the brood nexus
Thanks for the feedback - sucks that we missed some vital information - have ensured we research more thoroughly for our other videos, hope you enjoyed regardless 😊
Ps hoxxes 4 is a moon 3/10
This is wrong, every piece of information given in-game and by the Devs explicitly state that Hoxxes 4 is a tidally locked planet
Nuh uh.
