Box cushions

In this video I introduce a bit of extra comfort to Skismo. Box cushions!
Spending a good length of time on those hard wood benches and especially rowing, can take it's toll on you, so introducing an extra layer of comfort.

@@sailingskismo nice, I am going to stop the refurb and get mine in the water soon too. Started the benches now wished I hadn’t as all the other wood needs doing. Definitely doing the high field lever this week. Have a good sail 👌

lol, well we’re all taught the metric system in school. Funny though that at one point I said something like “ so that’s 200 mil plus 1 inch seam allowance” ! 😂

Those are certainly highly engineered cushions 🙂I'm not sure about the piping though. I don't think it suits the boat at all. A few years ago I make some cushions for the side benches of my sailing dinghy. I used nylon sail bag material for cheapness and for the foam I cannibalised a cheap 10mm yoga mat. All a bit crude but very effective.

Hi, my wife explained the importance of having the correct tension on the thread and what the various buttons and switches do. In terms of building box cushions then it was ‘sailrite’ that supplied the theory, they have a great channel on TH-cam that covers all things sailing. Thanks for watching.
