  • A tour of my Mk1 galley box, originally designed for the Trangia spirit stove. This is used in my GP14 sailing dinghy and also in my tent when camping. I used hardwood 12mm plywood (Not marine grade) and it had 2 coats of epoxy and 4 coats of varnish.
There are many stove options, more info about Trangia can be found here trangia.se/en/
The gas conversion kits can be found via an internet search.

I like this a lot. Surprising how many utensils you need. There must be a range of culinary delights produced in this. Perhaps a mini series of 'Cooking with Skismo'? The only thing I might alter is to be able to store the gas canister in the galley box.
    Many thanks
    Al

Thanks Al, I like your idea 🤓 I have done a few meal related videos but perhaps I should do more.

Thank you, I keep thinking I;m going to make a MKII but everytime I sit down to design it I struggle to see how I could improve this one, so maybe I got it right first time? I'm still thinking about it though :) Thanks for watching.

Very nice and well thought out. Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate your galley box. Might try a little lemon juice on the blacken spots on the fry pan, that is if they are a bother.

@@sailingskismo Usually I use baking soda on stainless, but I am afraid the baking soda (NaHCO3) would pit and mar the aluminum.

Trim your bolts down? Protect your knuckles? Agree with the gas. Deffo not keen on loose flammable liquids in a rocking boat in a wind. Have you got a fire blanket? Seem easier to store than an extinguisher. Nice video btw.

Thanks for watching and commenting 🤓 Bolts: yes, I absolutely need to trim them down in fact, I need to replace them for more decorative ones. A fire blanket I had thought of, and a fire extinguisher then it dawned on me that I have a bucket onboard and I’m surrounded by water so I feel I can save a bit of clutter by relying on the bucket/water in the case of fire.

I do wonder how well that would survive a capsize. Your ferro rod and cutlery would be fine but I doubt your stove would be happy being dunked. Personally I put anything non-waterproof in a dry bag just in case. Never assume you'll never capsize.

Thanks for watching and for your comments, good points to consider 🤓 I never take it for granted that I’ll stay dry, that’s why my clothes, sleeping bag and food all go in dry bags and sealed boxes. The stove will survive a dunking ok. The biggest lesson I learned from my last capsize ( two years ago ) is not to get complacent with stowage. I left a few things untethered ( when I normally tether them ) and before I could do anything about it I watched my chart, flask and favourite lunch box float off down the river!

Where did you buy the flight case handles from.

Hi, I suspect I bought them from Amazon, I can check when I get back home ( in a week ) 👍

I thought these were meant to use underway while sailing or hove to? good to see you have a tin of pot in there jaja

😂 as a solo helm I’d be a wizard if I could cook and sail at the same time! I certainly wouldn’t risk it while hove to, but I have used it while at anchor. And yes, a small pot of basil keeps me calm 😂 Thanks for watching.
