Southampton to Eling Daysail ( Pilgrim Farmers! )

Join me in another daysail on the South coast of the UK, this time from the slipway at #southamptonsailingclub to Eling which is 5nm upstream, passing Southampton docks, cruise ships and cargo ships and all vessels in between. A lovely Autumnal day and a fresh breeze. Perfect.

Great video! We have sailed from the top of Southampton Water three times this year in or Wanderer and found it challenging due to the wind being so fluky due both in strength and direction. Also, just outside the main channel there is a lack of sea room due to the ample moorings, buoys and anchored barges and other hard things to hit at least until you get past Marchwood. Then when the ebb sets in these challenges are multiplied by a factor as high water to low is only 2.5 to 3 hours due to the double high tide there. That said it is one of our favourites places to sail as there is always so much going on.

That was fantastic, I enjoyed everything about it. Can I ask why you don't use your mast lock? The mast moved when lowering the main sail.

I have the mast raked aft slightly so the mast gate won’t close when it’s rigged. I only use the mast gate when I’m stepping the mast. Thanks for watching and thanks for your kind words 🤓

What reefing system do you use on Skismo?
