  • Join me in another daysail on the South coast of the UK, this time from the slipway at #southamptonsailingclub to Eling which is 5nm upstream, passing Southampton docks, cruise ships and cargo ships and all vessels in between. A lovely Autumnal day and a fresh breeze. Perfect.
Thanks to Southampton Sailing Club for the use of their slipway

Great videos, I learn so much from them as am new to sailing and want to get cruising. The Christmas pudding shaped thing is an incinerator 👍🏻

Thank you for watching and commenting and thanks also for the incinerator answer 😉 Good luck with your sailing and dinghy cruising, you’ve joined an amazing community!

Great video! We have sailed from the top of Southampton Water three times this year in or Wanderer and found it challenging due to the wind being so fluky due both in strength and direction. Also, just outside the main channel there is a lack of sea room due to the ample moorings, buoys and anchored barges and other hard things to hit at least until you get past Marchwood. Then when the ebb sets in these challenges are multiplied by a factor as high water to low is only 2.5 to 3 hours due to the double high tide there. That said it is one of our favourites places to sail as there is always so much going on.

Thanks for watching, much appreciated. This was my first time ( in a dinghy ) on Southampton Water and I loved it, so much to gawp at and plenty of navigating to do. 😊

Always enjoy your straight up sailing videos, thanks again. Basic question but not easy for me- would you one day show us how you tie those tidy reefing lines as seen at 5:21? They look v neat, and quick to access.

Thanks for watching and I will address that as soon as the weather improves 🤓 Thanks for the kind comment.

That was fantastic, I enjoyed everything about it. Can I ask why you don't use your mast lock? The mast moved when lowering the main sail.

I have the mast raked aft slightly so the mast gate won’t close when it’s rigged. I only use the mast gate when I’m stepping the mast. Thanks for watching and thanks for your kind words 🤓

What reefing system do you use on Skismo?

Hi I use a double line reefing system, I’m going to do a video about it this weekend hopefully so I can answer that question more thoroughly. Thanks for watching 🤓
