soyeon is THE producer of the group. she does everything: arranges, composes and writes music ever since debut. if she didn’t write latata (debut song) there is a chance the idle wouldn’t even debut. not only she writes music she was executive director for tomboy and nxde. directing everything starting from concept, stage light, etc etc ending with nail designs even. she is the mastermind of idle

also, minnie and yuqi produces at least 1 song each in every album. AND I am super happy to say, following from their Tomboy album (thus early 2022), ALL THEIR ALBUMS HAVE BEEN PRODUCED BY THE GROUP!!!^^ (minnie and yuqi producing 2 songs each in both albums, and soyeon producing the rest.)
Minnie produces dreamy, emotional pop songs, and Yuqi produces aggressive, mostly rock vibe songs. It really reflects their dreamy (Minnie) and deep/husky tones (Yuqi).
For minnie produced songs, I suggest: Moon, Change, tung tung, escape
For yuqi produced songs: Liar, Reset, X file, Giant
Like she is the definition of a true leader !

When Soyeon is standing still in the last hook of My Bag, her whole stance screams "This is my empire, I'm in control" and that's just THE Soyeon flavour that does not exist in any other artist. She is the queen 👑
Their name can be said either way. When they introduce themselves in English, they say “hi guys, we are (G)I-DLE” (gee idle). I’ve been a huge fan since HANN and I still call them with the G.
Exactly, twitter stans are dumb though so they spread misinformation.
When I saw them in concert they used the G in the introduction as well.

I miss soojin so much. Her visuals and voice and dancing always made me look at her. She’s the shyest member but was always the fiercest along with soyeon on stage. It’s insane that she’s no longer there.
The other girls really picked up the pace when she was kicked out but geez it’s still sad. Like there’s a hole in the group.
It’s not like with wonho where he just went to doing solos. We just can’t see her at all and she really deserves more than that tbh

@@LiorTamir I don’t think she’s in cube anymore otherwise why would they kick her out of gidle. Makes no sense. Plus when they got rid of her they stopped talking about her so she can’t be in the group.
I saw them in August and I still haven’t recovered.
Also, Soojin’s departure is a sore spot for many. Her leaving was ultimately unjustified.
But the girls miss her even more than we do and that’s why there are so many references and Easter eggs to Soojin in I Never Die and I Love.
They are operating as 5 but to many Nevies, we are forever ot6.
look at Hwaa, Hahn and the Queendom performances...you'll be blown by all that.
HWAA and the QUEENDOM PERFORMANCES are a MUST, it was a peak performance.. TT so sick. AND their TOMBOY ALBUM is produced only by the members of the group, with Soyeon, Minnie and Yuqi producing. It follows the rock, aggressive vibe of tomboy, so it was sick.

My Bag is a song Soyeon wrote 1) to highlight all the members, 2) to get all the members to rap. Also, in my opinion, when she refers to her 5 red diamonds, she's including Soojin because she wouldn't be referring to herself among "her" 5 red diamonds, and there are now only 4 other members....soooooo.
Yess she also refers to it as "my bag" implying that shes holding the bag and there is 5 diamonds inside it Soojin being including so cute
After all these years, I still get goosebumps from Soyeons rap in Lion. And I totally get what you mean when you said they have a different feel from other girl groups. I think it's because they are so deeply involved not only with music in general but have actual agency over their own songs. I really hope we'll see more of that freedom for other groups as well (new jeans for example already meddling with writing lyrics, which is great).
It just feels different when it's not produced for mass appeal but coming directly from the artists like with Stray Kids or older BTS songs.
Soyeon has been involved with writing/composing/producing since their debut. In order, it goes Latata-> Hann -> Senorita -> Uh Oh -> Lion -> Oh My God -> Dumdi Dumdi -> Hwaa [Soojin Leaves :( ] -> Tomboy/My Bag -> Nxde
However, I think once Soyeon wrote Lion, she truly hit her stride and started getting deeply involved in the imagery and visual concepts as well. So ever since Lion, its just like you mentioned, everything is very much authentically birthed from Soyeon's brain. She also always convinces the members of the concepts before pitching the idea to the company and then the rest of the girls back her up. She's really just got a gigantic brain and crazy talent for such a small human.
I'm so excited! The G in (G)I-DLE stands for girl. Technically their name means "girl idol" but the G is silent because they don't want to be limited to the box called girlgroup. As they said in Tomboy "It's neither man nor woman, just me I-DLE". Btw, Señorita didn't age well lmao. At the time a lot of people (including me) were obsessed but it died down quickly. It's the only title track Cube approved immediately and that's why Soyeon jokes their music is better when she has to fight Cube for it to be published.
Also, as you probably know Soojin is still loved by the members and fandom so don't worry about talking about her! We all miss her dearly.
I'd also recommend K/DA, a virtual girlgroup with Soyeon and Miyeon. Their music and videos are amazing.
Edit: omg guys plz don't fight about Señorita. I only meant that the song isn't as strong as other I-DLE title tracks in retrospective. I also still like it a lot but it's just not as good as other title tracks. However, this is of course very subjective. I just happen to be part of the majority who isn't obsessed with it anymore.
I agree, K/DA is officially part of the GIDLE family in my mind. There's a really cool choreo version of the song MORE by 1Million dance studio, in which Soyeon is absolute 🔥

Nooo Seniorita is still a major bop to me, I don’t think it aged poorly, it just feels like the odd child in their title track discography because it’s so different. I still majorly bwop to it
The name part is not really accurate, the name is supposed to be the english letter I and the korean suffix 들 (deul) which is used to make nouns plural, so in korean it reads as 아이들 (aideul) which means children, not 아이돌 (idol). So literally, the name means "(girl)children" but the meaning of the name is basically that every individual (hence the english 'I') has a different charm/personality in the group (korean 들).
@@joulestruly the g was also added to the name later by cube because their group name men as children in Korean so the girls believe that when they were still just going to be debuting having the search engine bring up images of children instead of the group so the company addd the g (G) so they would pop up first instead

For Lion... I feel like it starts out slowly with Minnies verse, like a lion lazily lying in the sun. Then the lion notices you and starts to pace around (main song and chorus) while sort of letting you know that you might be in some trouble. Then with Soyeon rap the lion attacks you. After the attack the lion goes back to it's spot in the sun and lays back down again, which brings back the opening calmness being sung this time by Soojin.
this group does not miss, even the songs I personally don't like as much I can still appreciate and recognise the quality, they are genuine and fierce to the max
Absolutly! Some of thier last couple of songs on the album are not directly my taste, but the songs are so well done.

Soyeon: Genius songwriter, great leader & rapper and power stage presence
Minnie: Dreamy voice, You can easily drown with her hipnotizing vocal, also u can get lost in her eyes
Yuqi: Unique deep husky voice , puppy faced but she’s actually giant dog, smart beijing puppy (in her study 📚), (G)I-dle QOV (queen of variety)
Miyeon: YG trained vocal princess, unreal feature, loving, pink vibe
Shuhua: Can be anything and do it perfectly. Example, she seems not sexy but when she do it u gonna be speechless.
Soojin🤍 : She’s quiet but KILLS with her sexiness, powerful and clear dance move , most loving (but sadly accused of bullying. I hope she’s happy and doing what she love rn)
(G)I-dle is a girl group that dare to try many different vibe and genre. That’s why I love them. btw my bias is Yuqi if u want to know.
Soyeon was also in KDA. A league of legends kpop group or whatever. She is there with miyeon and two other non kpop artists

Soyeon not only composes and writes the song but she is also the one ego is coming up with the concepts and she is doing that since the start but she's not the only one as the time went on two more members (Yugi and Minnie ) started making songs for the group as well so (G)I-dle have 3 out 5 members Who produce, writes and compose their music (G)I-dle is actually the first girl Group in history to do that since the beggining and they are probably have the most freedom out of all girl groups in terms of making music

This is the only GG I stan because they’re so UNIQUE. I love that they have been allowed to have their own vocal colors and Soyeon is just a goddess. They’re total bada**es in a genuine way. An Yuqi is my girl! I love her voice so much.
LION is (G)-idle's queendom final song it was amazing. I don't know if you're planning on watching any idol survival show but if you ever wanna watch one, you should start with queendom (plus mamamoo was in it and they killed it too)

Uh oh is such a masterpiece. I’ve been obsessed with it recently. It’s so good! My favorite part is at 3:35. It just sounds so good! The instrumental is very good also. Señorita is also amazing. The instrumental, the vocals, are all so good! I don’t really like My Bag that much but I love the choreo, especially right in the beginning. I don’t even understand how she manages to move like that. Like damn. And Lion is absolutely amazing as well. The vocals, the instrumental, the rap, are all so good.

Lion is the best song ive ever heard, i learned it by heart within1 week its a masterpiece (soyeon's rap badass asusual, yuqi in the chorus is unreal and minnie's intro isto die for)
You should watch “put it straight” the presentation from queendom, it’s insane. They are one of the best girl groups out there.
In case you see “put it straight”, use the video that has no cuts (it has 5.5M views) and you can read the lyrics before or after.
my bag is actually a b-side! that's why it's short. but it was very popular. it talks about each member, hence the separate choreography. "red 5 diamonds in my bag" refers to soyeon's 5 red diamonds (her 5 members), and yes it's 5 members cause she counted soojin as well🥺also the mama my bag performance is special, in the original track there's no verse about soyeon, she adds one at the beginning of mama performance (alongside the mama diss lol)

Minnie and Yuqi are probably my favs in terms of voices. But they are all so amazing but those two take the cake for the 4th gen for me personally. I love them so much and I am hoping with TomBoy and NUDE combe backs... gave me a feeling that soojin can come back. Like I have hopes...
I mean people come at them for using inspirations from around world yet I don't see it wrong. They use it not for bops but for real songs with meanings. This hip hop sound is very self love and be me. That is what hip hop is. Art expression. People relate it to black people and yes. But you don't even know the origins. It is self expression. And these girls do that. It's not cultural wrong doing. It is using the inspiration in their own forms. Yes the Hindu stuff I hear had some clashing and I can understand but like they aren't being disrespectful. They really do do expressions of art and it not just bops.
I won't lie... My bag literally made me fall in love with Yuqi so bad... Like I'd go gay for her... With some Shuhua on the side.. like damn really let these girls shone in My bag... And why is that? Because we seeing what is in the bag that isn't even opened up yet!!!

*Idle sounds like Ideul in Korean, which means children; that's why the fandom is called Neverland (in relation to Peter Pan who doesn't want to grow old in Neverland) 💜
*I is a pronoun that represents individuality. In Korean, adding -deul to a word makes it plural, thus, I-dle is a group of individuals with distinct and unique personalities 💜

im from Chile, this year g-idle came to show in teatro caupolican, i went to see the show and "my bag" perfomance live, OMG, the scream of people and dance perfomance of members, soyeon rap is amazing live perfomance.
Most of the music is written and produced by Soyeon I believe. She also talked about choosing concepts from clothing to nail styles... Ofc other members have their input
Yuqi is my forever bias. She is just too lovable. The reality shows she is a part of really shows her personality. Def larger then life!
Love gidle! They're in my personal top 3 kpop gg's. Soyeon is brilliant, her creativity and imagination are off the hook. Mimmie, Yuqi, and Miyeon also contribute to song writing and production. Please add to your list their mv's for HWAA and HANN (Alone in the winter), as well as their "live clip" videos for CHANGE and I'M THE TREND.
On a side note, about their name, I saw them this summer at the Warfield in San Francisco on their JUST ME world tour. They introduced themselves as "G" IDLE and all the promotional material also said "G" IDLE. I saw many videos of varies stops on the JUST ME tour, including their last stop on the tour in Singapore, and again they introduced themselves as "G" IDLE.
In conversations with other Neverlanders it seems that outside of Korea, the group uses (G)I-DLE and in Korea IDLE is what's appropriate.
You’re right, IDLE has their own edginess that is all their own. I think the fact Soyeon composes and produces their work gives them that unique edge. They sing and dance to the beat of their own drum.
Some of the members have solo stuff, you should check that out too. Soyeon has a solo mini-album called "windy" the title track Beam Beam is kind of a more cutesy vibe, but it also shows her unique style- you don't need to be tough all the time to be bad ass. Yuqi has two solo songs that you may like, and miyeon has a solo mini album which is really cool, but I don't know if it's really your vibe.

Most of the title tracks come from Soyeon, she writes and produces her songs based on anime’s and movies she watches, the Nxde concept though was for soojin, the other members (Minnie & yuqi) also wrote and produce their b sides mainly.

Queendom is highly recommended and shows how I-DLE work on their song, concept, stage, outfits, they do by themselves almost everything
LION whole song and concept have been brought by Soyeon, then she presented them to the members and starting from that they worked together one the whole concept, performance etc
It is often this way for the title tracks of the group since Soyeon is able to not only create hit songs, but also the concept with it
Then they work on the concept and everything around together (like b-sides where Minnie and Yuqi have more and more to bring) the story telling of the album has been said to be bring by Minnie too (for I Burn for example)

calling (G)I-DLE, IDLE is like calling Chevrolet 'Chevy' - it's what many fans refer to them as but it is NOT their name. Their name is Yeoja Idle in Korean. If you watch interviews etc they are almost always introduced as (G)I-DLE and very rarely as Idle.
