  • This video is about Natural 'Blood thinners' for Afib. In this video, i talk about some natural blood thinners like Garlic, Ginger, Nattokwinase, Hawthorn, Motherwort etc and why i would not recommend them as an alternative to warfarin or the NOACs in patients with Afib

    You did not mention the side effects from medications where there is practically none from natural stuff I think the test needs to be done despite the big medicine companies.

      He did explain that in another video, that’s not the topic of this video.
      Long story short: anticoagulants aren’t recommended for people who’s risk of bleeding is lower than the risk of blood clotting that results to strokes.

    Thanks for the information - my spouse takes Eliquis because she is Afib. I take aspirin because I had a stroke from which I recovered completely. Eliquis is really expensive even though it's been on the market long enough to face a generic competitor. The primary manufacturer bought the generic competitor out so now we are faced with entering the coverage gap indefinitely on. Medicare Part D. I understand your point but am still paying thousands per year because the manufacturer is preventing generic competition.

    • @robtempe

      that should be illegal. There is nothing better and cheaper to take? My doctor recommended against Eliquis. Glad for that after your story.

      Warfarin IS NOT RAT POISON. Warfarin/Coumadin comes from Coumarin aka Turmeric. Look it up!

    • @Akira-nw4jl
      @Akira-nw4jl ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a poison at all. In fact it is used to kill rats by anti coagulating them and causing hemorrhaging because they will overdose with it. Your dog or cat could mistakenly eat it and not die. In the USA poisons are illegal to sell and use to kill animals because people might use them to kill other people instead.

    He gives a very logical explanation of why natural anticoagulants are not investigated and falls back on the old defence that large scale double blind studies are necessary, etc, etc, blah, blah. It is certainly true that the cost of such studies prevents competitors to existing drugs from entering the market. So bad treatments can force out the good. There imply needs to be a better way

    I learn SO much from these videos. Now I know the difference between anticoagulants (Warfarin) and anti-platelet (Aspirin). I'm a BIG believer in natural medicine and regular vitamin / mineral supplementation but I am willing to learn from someone who is more knowledgeable than I. Dr. Gupta presents both sides of the discussion and reaches a most logical conclusion BASED ON REAL SCIENCE. Furthermore, Dr. Gupta reveals the need for there to be funding for the health benefits of natural substances (i.e. a tax on pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements, which goes 100% to labs and research companies doing these studies).

After an earlier pulmonary embolism at 80 years, my doctor advised me to change from warfarin to aspirin despite my misgivings, this nearly killed me within a year when I came down unconscious in a public place and had to be promptly treated with heparin, etc. Have now been on Pradaxa for about 10 years without problems.

As the years have gone on a ride a motorbike and having cold hands and feet are a no no especially the hands, I wear winter motorbike gloves in the summertime on my motorbike, on December the 29th 2020 I tested positive for covid but didn’t have no symptoms so did the isolation for 10 days that has no passed, as I had no symptoms I contacted my local blood centre to see if I could help with using my platelets. I have had a pack from medichecks with 3 little pens to extract my blood from my fingers to put in a blood test tube, my problem is I have used all three needle pens to pierce my fingers to get the blood out as soon as I did if I had 1 of 2 drops of blood then it turned into thick blood which would no drip at all I could shake my finger and the blood stayed there just wobbling like jelly. Hey Doc, you stated I give you a drug to treat the "symptom". Perhaps treating the cause sounds better. If we only treat the symptom we(patients) are subject to spending a life time on drugs. If many drugs are synthetic and are part of natural supplements it makes no sense the use of natural supplement would be detrimental. Pharmacy companies have no deserve to supplement their manufactured drugs with something like garlic. All you do here is make the case for staying on drugs. JMT

    My issue is that DOAC medication has led to severe PR bleeds requiring hospital admission on three occasions across 18 months. Two requiring blood transfusion and several days in hospital. This is because I have pan diverticulitis. I was recommended Revroxaban and then Apixaban. On the occasions of hospital admission I recorded very low blood pressure in the ambulance owing to the bleed which instigated an AFib event recorded on the ECG monitor. I’d been OK prior to the bleed. I don’t have high blood pressure or any other comorbidity Ie. Diabetes or weight problems. My incidence of paroxysmal AFib has reduced to virtually zero through lifestyle changes, diet etc. I’m now 70. I wonder if the statistical analysis of the vulnerable populations takes in smokers, the overweight and obese and diabetic samples with express co- morbidity. If the bleed triggers an AFib event then I’m playing one symptom against another… I’d value your prognosis.

    Very interesting explanations regarding anticoagulants etc. Thank you. Warfarin, the rat bait drug is pretty natural, isn't it?

    Excellent and detailed info on this subject. It took approximately 10 minutes to explain this in fairly simple terms thank-you. You make an excellent teacher/professor. I'm currently taking low dose aspirin(81mg) and Clopidogrel (75mg) once daily as recommended by my doctor. I haven't had any issues to this point but is this combination considered overkill or not?

      Steve Harris : Really ? No side effects from Clopidogrel aka Plavix..? No random bruises, no tinnitus, dizziness..? Scary product.
      I regret having stents, & being prescribed Big Selling Clopidogrel.
      Read on this channel, of the dangers, especially of withdrawal from use. Good luck, get better. Cheers

      @@jimebbage Guess I've been lucky so far. I don't necessarily trust big pharma or for that matter most doctors either but 8 months in and so far so good(touching wood;) I did have some nasty shortness of breath experiences with Brilinta though before I switched over. Nasty stuff.

    In the clinical trial of Xarelto, which I assume was compared to Warfarin and/or a placebo, was it with at risk participans?

      Jake Thompson, good question. I have lung clots and was put on Xarelto in the hospital. I researched this drug when I got home. Did you know there are several class action lawsuits on this medication? Also I have kidney and liver problems and on the drug sheet it states that this drug is not for everyone especially with the issues I have. I just don’t trust the medical elites.

    Hi Dr.Gupta.
    Well Im really impressed the way you explain about each problem in details , which unfortunately, most Physicians/M.S / or any other Doctor's usually donot do so ...reasons being that one is 'still' anxious to know about the Answers to our queries left unsolved !Thanks so hmuch in givingtimw & info about All the Topics You Discuss ,Well done ,May God Bless You for your 'Noble Cause! '
    Could you Also come up with a discussion in Aspirin/or other blood thinning medicines..Can Females take it after menopause /Hysterectomy,If so..Then what to do if Aspirins /co crelated ingredients donot suit as it causes GERD,or if it causes bleeding in stomach ,nose etc...So What could one do /take to get another effective & a safer way for blood thinning! Thsnks once again!

    I have started taking Xarelto 20mg daily due to DVT and hate it. It has caused so many side effects on me like heavy menstrual bleeding, stomach pain, gastritis and dark urine! I cannot take it anymore. How can you help me?

    • @gloriamaryhaywood2217
      @gloriamaryhaywood2217 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dark urine shows it's affecting your liver! Be Sure to tell your doctor about it right away! I also take xarelto, but haven't experienced any negative side effects that I am aware of. I take it because of having AFib.
      If you have DVT it's important that you do something to safe-guard yourself from stroke. Perhaps your doctor can switch you to a different blood-thinner that doesn't react so negatively with your body chemistry?

    Dr. Gupta. Thank you for our kindness and expertise. There has been talk about drug shortages in the U.S. I think to myself what would I take that is natural in case there is a shortage of antiplatelets in an emergency.
