They are both great cars, I've recently part exchanged my 21 plate Jazz hybrid for a 24 plate HR-V Advance. Friday June 29th was the handover day and the HR-V is my tenth Honda.
There is no difference between the, normal, Jazz and the Crosstar. (Crosstar stands a little higher on it wheels and has roof-rails) The HR-V has more room in the front and no hump in the boot.
What about rear seats? Is the HR-V larger on the back? I have 3 small kids and I need to install 2 isofix chairs and at the same time to use the middle seats, for short period of time of course.
Yes HR-V is bigger in the back. Depending on the size of the seats and the person in the middle you could fit them, but it will be a squeeze and most cars apart from larger SUVs like the CR-V.
I might have been prepared to pay the extra for the HRV until I discovered that it cannot tow anything! At least the Jazz Crosstar can manage 500kg, just about enough for my regular requirements. As a downsizing ex Subaru Forester owner, I understand that SUVs these days are more about marketing than practicality, but this goes too far.

no difference, back seats are the same.
Can you fit a tow bar to the HR-V (to fit a bike carrier)?

Towing messes up a car big time.
What about difference in price?
Currently on the road price for Jazz starts from £26,885 and HR-V starts from £30,715.
