    .............................................................
This is the Honda Jazz! It's an all-new model of Honda's small hatchback, and it's received upgrades across both the exterior and interior! Sure, the changes aren't HUGE, but as with any small car when a new model is launched, you can probably guess where most of the changes will be made. However, there's one change you may not have been expecting - the new Jazz is only available as a hybrid!
For us UK viewers, you’ll only have the one engine to choose from - a 1.5-litre petrol engine along with two electric motors, producing 109hp and a claimed economy of 61mpg! But with a rather large price of £19,000 for this rather small car, is the new Jazz the standout little legend of 2020? You’ll have to join Mat for his latest review and find out!

Greetings from South Africa. I just wanted to say I still own my 2003 first generation Honda Jazz. It has 460000km on the clock. And still going strong 17 years later. I was 33 when I bought it. I don't pay attention to all the negative things people say about Honda's and touch screens and cheap plastics. In my book they are bomb proof. I have owned virtually every Honda model out there. Done over 3 million kilometres. They are the greatest cars out there for people who want to keep their cars for 10 years and longer.

But this new one though...the overall design in and out just screams old person's car. And it's getting discontinued in the US and maybe the developing Asian markets too, so that says a lot.

The old jokes were hilarious, but on a serious note I’m 33 and have the older jazz si, with two kids the jazz is without a doubt the most practical small hatchback, the rear seats come in handy more often than you think, the boot space is a lot bigger on the older model and the best thing - we have had it 3 years and other than routine servicing it hasn’t cost a penny and nothing has broken, unlike other brands I have owned, my brand new 2015 at the time vw polo engine failed in the first year, I then bought a new ford fiesta which overheated, got fed up and bought a Honda where not a single thing has broken

I had a 2006 Jazz with the Magic Seats. The rear seats were split 60/40, when laid down, the headrests on the outer positions could fit under the front seats. The backs of the seats were about 25mm (1 inch) above the level of the boot floor. When the previously lowered seats were raised, the squab came up & the tubular metal legs folded out of the way automatically. I could carry my mother's rollator walker fully assembled (unfolded) in the space provided by raising the wider of the two seat portions.
Brilliant system, but it meant there weren't as many storage bins available compared to other similar vehicles.

Only one minor gripe - the 'stop start' feature in my present one only seems to work when it feels like it but I can live with that. The only reason I’m going to have no.6 is because being disabled, I have Motability cars and the lease on them is 3 yrs. so they’re changed at that time.

I bought the previous Jazz version 5.5 years ago. Since then 0 problems. One of the disadvantages of this car is that it's not that pleasant for driving. Checked the new model. The first thing which is a serious obstacle for me is that there's no spare tyre. Instead, it's equipped with a tyre repair kit. Jazz is not the only car on the market with TRK instead of spare tyre, but still I dislike that. I don't think I would buy a car without a spare tyre.
I didn't drive on the new Jazz, but I understood from different reviews that it is also not that quiet.
The price of the new Jazz is about 30% extra vs the previous Jazz when I purchased it 5.5 years ago. Expected to see some improvements of comfort and a bit disappointed. Reliability is very important, but I don't want reliability instead of comfort. I want both .
Thank you for this great review!

There's a number of inaccuracies in this due to how Honda have a different kind of hybrid system. No Matt, the "moo" isn't too do with it having a CVT... It doesn't really have a transmission at all! The petrol engine is acting like a generator and it will run at its optimal revs. Electricity not used to power the car is stored and used to run the car engine of - but it's almost always running on its electric motor. Except when it's at Highway speed there is a clutch that engages the petrol motor directly to the drive wheels in a fixed gear ratio like a 6th gear. Also explains why the regen breaking is so smooth. Maybe you should review your video to address this?

Bought the EX model in June and am very pleased. Quiet, comfortable and well built. On mostly short trips (up to 10 miles), frequently get over 70 mpg, with 80+ on a couple of occasions. Some of the automatic driving features such as Lane Departure and Adaptive Cruise Control can be a bit intrusive if set to maximum, but work fine if set to middle or low or can be switched off if necessary. SatNav works well and is fast to reroute, and Rear Camera is a great asset, although visibility is excellent anyway. Front windscreen wipers are positioned low down and when parked are below the bottom of the windscreen and not visible from the driving seat.

I often borrow a 2005 Jazz for trips. It's not fun to drive and it's not properly maintained so it ocassionally has problems. However, it's the most car you can get for that kind of money. It can fit loads of stuff on the back. We use it for music gigs and we often carry 2 12' speakers, amp, mixer, guitar and violin, stands for everything, plus a weekend's worth of clothes for 4 people, and it can fit all that stuff easily. It's also comfortable for everyone inside. With any other brand, this amount of stuff would need a step-up into the 4.5 meters segment.
As a driver, I'm not the happiest person in the world when climbing motorways with 4 people inside. You often need to stay on the slow lane and drop a gear or two. But it can do so much stuff to get you, your friends, their bikes, and 3 elephants from point A to point B.

    • @martinwiseman6413
      @martinwiseman6413 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They didn’t. Matt should have known this has not got CVT. In fact no gears at all. The electric motor does the driving and has enough torque to not need one until about 50 mph then there is a direct engine drive for higher speeds. The apparent sequential gearbox noise is faked. Check out CAR mag review. They ask anyone who knows how it is done to get in touch. So many reviews of the new Honda hybrid system get this wrong, but not all. See OSC review too for correct analysis.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Matt said it has a CVT gearbox, however unlike a Toyota Prius or Hyundai Ioniq there is no physical transmission or gearbox. Instead, the missing transmission is replicated the by the engine and electric motors.

Yes, it's neither fancy nor that fast, but it's very spacious, apparently easy and comfortable to drive and well-build. And reasonably fast at the same time (0-60 in 9.4 seconds is fine).
It's great because it's so versatile: You can use it in the city or for a full family vacation or for beginners. It may cost more than average in its class, but it's actually worth it in the long-term. Eyerybody else can buy an Abarth 500 or Fiesta ST.

@andreisabogal6953 From my 2012 model, it was about 35mpg. After 1 year driving a 2022 Hybrid, it's rarely less than 60mpg. In the warmer weather, with no lighting or heat required, it's regularly been 75+mpg.

@@sheilashineleofany822 Its a optional extra, you have to pay more than listed for it ( or go up a trim)

I still have my 07 Honda Fit Sport and kind of wish they had a similar design for the exterior. This exterior to me took me the whole video to get used too. But I guess I'll test drive it myself to get the feel of things.
