I enjoyed this tour of your wish list. Sometimes I go through my library holds and delete the ones that no longer seem so interesting. That’s a problem with borrowing versus owning: if the mood strikes and you own it, it’s already there waiting for you to start reading. You won’t regret prioritizing Coelho’s Boy Lost in a Maze and having that beautiful book on your shelf.
I nearly bought the whisperwhicks today but some how stopped myself. My wish list grows after watching booktubers recommend books or just you girls in our group 😂 xx💜
I have the Whisperwicks too! Reading Kristen Lanvransdatter Oct-Dec. The Bone Ships is a favorite series (tidechild trilogy). I would recommend finding it on audio if you can, the performance is great and Barker's writing is hard to follow physically. It was one of my first reviews on my channel. I had to listen to them because we were moving cross country and I didn't have space for a bunch of physical books. I found out from a friend that they couldn't read him (had to do with punctuation and grammar), so I was overjoyed that I listened.
I understand about needing to kind of curtail the wishlist a little bit sometimes! I do that as well. I really need to read my copy of Jade City which is waiting for me on my shelf as well. It sounds good and my sister enjoyed it as well. Alison is a nice graphic novel read but it didn't blow my mind. It was still a solid read. I really enjoyed this is how you lose a time war at some point. It was fantastic. And I have the audio of the lantern of lost memories for me to dip into at some point. And Julia sounds like such an interesting take on 1984. Anniebot also sounds like an intriguing concept as well. I've heard Lucy Holland talk about her research and she is so passionate and well versed in the lore she writes about. Garlic and the witch is one I would love to get to at some point! Braiding sweetgrass is very insightful. And the lemon trees grow is one I have been meaning to get to for quite a while and it is waiting for me on my shelf as well. When life gives you mangoes is a very sweet middle grade read. So many books to comment on, forgive my long comment!
Don’t apologise at all Olivia - I appreciate you taking the time to comment and your thoughts really help me to prioritise the books I need to get to! So many books, so little time. Hopefully we can both get to some of those tbr and wish list books soon!
I have a LOT of overlap with you (shock horror 😂). The Whisperwicks recently went in my TBR too! I’d forgotten about The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break (and immediately added. It to my wishlist 😜) Great video matey!
Since looking into the challenged book issue I don’t unhaul anymore. Crazy how many I have repurchased as turns out I wanted to read them again 🤣 But I have also been shopping at the thrift store, have saved tons instead of buying new. I should look into an Amazon wish list. Very interesting, thank you for sharing 💕
@@Cobaltdragon this is why I struggle to get rid of books! I’ve repurchased so many and there are books I got rid of when I was younger that had annotations from school that I deeply regret letting go of now.
@@spreadbookjoy to be fair I have been in the same house over 35 years, so don't have to pack them up. Plus a book from my childhood would now cost $40 to replace and not in thrift stores. Also with physical books disappearing from libraries and bookstores - as more are going to audio/ebook versions. Just like the comfort of physical books with me.
Hi Jack. Terrific wish list. I, too, am trying to buy fewer physical books because I just don't have the space, and I'm also donating books I know I will never read again. Still, I'm not freeing up enough space, no matter how many books I donate. My problem, though, is that I really do prefer physical copies to e-copies. I try and try, but I just don't love reading on my kindle. Especially now when kindle books are almost as expensive as the physical book, I find I tell myself that I might as well get the physical book! Anyway, I guess JAMES, on your list, is the one that I would encourage you to read. It's definitely the most important book I've read all year so far. Hope you are doing well!
I love my physical books so much - I love to see them on the shelf and love to browse a physical bookshop. I’ve found reading them difficult at times because of some chronic issues with my elbows and wrists, so having the kindle has been such a help, but also it is useful for reading at night when my partner is asleep with the backlight 😂 But if it was my choice and space and money were not issues, I’d fill the house! I have James on the top of my wish list!
@@spreadbookjoy I like my kindle in theory more than in practice. I’m sorry about your chronic wrist/elbow issues. I get it that holding physical books can be really difficult too.
Hello Jack. Wonderful ideas about how to buy books in moderation. I have a hard time getting rid of books that I love or I think I might want to reread or that have to do with something important in my culture. Yes, please do read Alberta and Jacob. The whole trilogy is fantastic! Alberta as a young girl, even though she was born in northern Norway, I felt her essence. And she also had a lazy eye. Have you read the brother’s Grimm retelling of the juniper tree by Barbara comyns? She’s a wonderful author and I collect all her books in print. I love your video format today. Aloha friend.
I do that all the time too Jack hehe:) The signature of all things is such a brilliant book, I do not read the author generally, but this one was fabulous, sucha family saga! Also, that Ishbelle Bee book the mirror and Goliath, is a really quirky about great book. I met the author when they first came out and got signed copies, Give it a try, it's mad but fun! The Mistress of the Art of Death is a book that has been on my radar for a while now, if you fancy reading it anytime soon let me know!
I put the Mirror and Goliath on the list because of you I’m sure! Have heard great things about the Mistress of the Art of Death series and it’s been on the list for so long now, I really should try to get a copy!

You had Fangs by Sarah Anderson! I love her--I'm on her Patreon and she just released (or will soon) her last Scribbles book. Love her calendars 🥰

I have read Stonehenge and its a good one!
The Boy Lost in The Maze is so so good. Code Dependent was super interesting and accessible too.
It was fun to see what was on your list Jack ❤
Thanks Charlie! 😁
