I Made My Own Metro Cube

Take one cheap plastic mood light, add four custom vinyl stickers, and you can make your very own mini Tyne and Wear Metro cube!
Fingers crossed something like this could be made and sold officially at some point in the future, but until then I'll enjoy my own DIY Metro totem.

In the 90’s while at work one day I heard on the radio a chap from Tyne & Wear Metro talking .. funnily enough, it was probably on Metro Radio. He mentioned they were getting rid of the old yellow cubes, as they were being redesigned.
He added, I think as a joke really .. “If anybody wants one, give us a call”😁😁
Quick as a flash I did that.
I arrived home the same day, only to be met by a very puzzled wife standing in the hallway, with one enormous Metro cube blocking her path to the door. The ‘Metro’ chaps had delivered it within a couple of hours of my call. This was during the pre-mobile phone era, so I hadn’t told my wife about my plan.
I made a garden table from it, but sadly when we moved house I got rid of it. I actually lived about 200m from West Monkseaton station at the time.
