I lived in Kaaawa valley on Oahu in the late 60's. I was in my early teens and spent most of my time hitchhiking up and down the North Shore and sleeping on the beaches and using the beach parks to take showers, etc. It was so great I did not even know I was homeless. I left Hawaii when I was 25.
there working on panels that work at night.. there is a slight temp difference between top and underside of panels that gets converted to electons,, about 1 percent of day time panels
That's an awesome and befitting nameplate, the pond sounds exciting, what kind of fish are you looking at adding? Will you be adding a filter or Biofilter also, would be so interesting to see that come together. Dont skip the hat and covering in cloudy conditions dear friend, it is even more dangerous with some clouds that magnify the UV to higher levels, it will harm your skin even if there is no sun at all, coverup ok
Most likely I'll add Tilapia, and catfish. They both do well out here, and since fish is heavily consumed here (all kinds) it will be a worthy endeavor. Can be traded for other goods, or food easily. I am looking at the filtration on a friends system for some ideas on that. Mahalo for all the sun wise information. So true, cloudy days are no protection at all! Aloha!🤙
That is a really nice door-ornament your sister sent you. Man, that's an ambitious workload you have planned for around there. Sounds like time to buy a bunch of shovels and throw a beer party for the guys around the area... Aloha.🍍
Yep over paneling is definitely a needed thing, but when the sun does shine there's enough power to run a small air conditioner... Is your plan to try to be completely off-grid and self food sustainable? Would you be able to do off-grid? Ethanol? Maybe sell the digging as an Airbnb experience and make them pay you for the privilege of breaking lava rock LOL🤙🌺🦉
That was great ! love the new sign on the door ! nice video of the plants and trees vines and weeds. so peaceful ! no wounder the wild life so happy ! NY weather been crazy ! all 4 seasons in a weak hear. winter storm warring up now. lots of heavy rain and flooding. grid down in places. love todays solar. the new panels with MPPT work so well in cloudy and over cast days. the 20 year old panels did not work that well and the cost really came down. I have a 25 year old panel up. has the big round cells and bigger than 100 watt panel of today and it only 50 watt . now is a good time for solar and wind and some are using micro hydro power. and the best part is the battery ! no way will lead work that well . The LiFePO4 is 90% or over efficiency. lead is around 80% . battery's keep getting better and price drop is really something. most everything else going up in price like food and fuel . not solar. and the stuff is easy to hook up and use. China has come so far in a good way. they are watching the reviews and sending the stuff out for review . all of us are in this together. so happy many countries working the problem and together on this. and with the progress in past 20 years on solar wind and battery's . looking great what comes ahead. I am like a kid in a candy store with so much new great stuff coming out. love how the world is watching . proof 1 person can make a difference.
Love everything you just said brother! It's fun and exciting to see everything happening with the solar stuff these days! Kids in candy stores...yes! Aloha!🤙
I’m having a problem with these 2 Victron charge controllers I put in. I took out my Outback controllers , they couldn’t handle the power coming out of the panels after I put in 4 eg4 LL batteries, now I tried my generator and the error light comes on the outback inverter, Any ideas what I could do
Obviously, start with errors. Read the troubleshooting section of the manual. Test and verify voltage and continuity. You might need to isolate systems.

Good evening from sunny Southern California
Aloha to you in SoCal!🤙

🤙
Absolutely agree with you here. It are the days/weeks with the "worst" conditions that you plan for.
Yes!🤙
Off topic, I would love to hear about the foods you can forage on your property! :) I want a food forest, so I can stop buying food from the store. :)
Will have a lot more of food coming up for sure! It's the final piece🤙
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
🤙
I find a light cloud cover is better than full sun, panels stay cooler while all the clouds act like a larger light source.
I'm doing quite well in these darker days! Even without really seeing the sun! Aloha!🤙
Even the gloomy days are exotic!
🤙
Sounds super fun!!!! I love it Aloha
No problem at all with so so conditions ! Aloha!🤙
Very cool update video, glad you're feeling better and love the pond ideas.
Mahalo!🤙
I get some amperage even on cloudy days.
Doing well here with not great conditions🤙
Great upcoming projects. What kind of fish will your pond have?
Probably load it up with Talapia. It's popular out here. They reproduce like crazy, and can be traded like currency. Aloha!🤙
whire clouds good dark clouds bad
Great video ❤
Aloha!🤙

If money would not matter. Would you choose over paneling or over batterying?
With LiFePO4 now being around, probably , yes. 🤙

That's kind of how I picture it brother. Me filming some youngsters picking away at that lava flow! 🤣...Aloha!🤙

Plan is to be 100% self sufficient yes. Food production is the final piece to put into play. And, it's on the way right now! Aloha!🤙

They'll be fish food!🤙
