- A quick overview of what problems you may run into when increasing the boost on your factor GM turbo, how to visually inspect a turbo, and what you have to do in order to increase the boost on you 6.5l turbo diesel.
Now yall will finally understand what I mean when I say my turbo is shot. I have been rolling around with this turbo on my truck for about a year and a half (dont do that) but it is very clear that I need a new turbo.
PLEASE! Feel free to get ahold of me anytime with any questions, comments or concerns 👍

Feel free to check out the websight We would greatly appreciate it, thank you!
That’s how we roll! We’re too busy working on everyone else’s vehicles that ours get neglected. Keep up the great content!
For sure man, it's unfortunate that my truck has been kinda put on the back burner lately, but it's the story of my life hahaha helping others before getting your own crap finished haha
Ain't that the truth 2 of my trucks need several things done but gotta put it all on the back burner
That's a fact.
Glad you're making these videos Jesse and sharing the knowledge and keeping the 6.5s alive
Just trying to help other 6.5l owners out brother, 👍 I appreciate you taking the time to watch the videos, thank you.
Been working on my 6.5 using videos. I’m about to check out all of yours. Thanks dude!
I have a 95 6.5 and 96 warrior your channel has been a life saver for me 👍🏽
That's awesome man, another 6.5l/warrior owner hahaha. Happy to hear the videos have been of some assistance and I thank you for taking the time to watch them 👍
Really enjoying your videos. I just dipped my toes into the diesel world and didn’t want to spend a 3rd world country’s national deficit on something new, so I went old and cheap. I got a 95 C3500 with the 6.5 Detroit and I’m going to put a few more g’s in it to make it fit me.
How'd it work for you? Recently did the same with a 94 C3500. Got an air dogg lift pump, mechanical waste gate and some gages waiting to be installed.
The more videos I watch, the more I wonder if a cummins would have been worth it.
Thank you... your teaching me alot about this. I have a gm v8 6.5l diesel n know next to nothing on it😊😊😊
Glad I could be of some assistance man, thank you for watching.
Holy toasted turbo Batman!!!!
You are braver than me holding onto that turbo.
As always…love your work.
Thanks man, as always I greatly appreciate you taking the time to watch the videos. Definitely will be swapping that old turbo out for sure hahaha
Love the content!! I'm new to the 6.5 community, so I have lots to learn... keep the videos coming!!
I appreciate it man, thank you for watching 👍
I'm glad you said something about the conversion I'm trying to do that right now and have questions
Awesome videos my man. This is my first deisel that I've owned let alone a 6.5 deisel which I'm finding out is very different than the rest of the deisels out there. I've already learned so much and alot more thanks to your videos. I'm at the point of changing the intake to delete the e.g.r. I know you said you had some access to some parts, would you happen to know of an intake I can get my hands on. I would appreciate you letting me know and keep up the awesome informational videos.
At this time I unfortunately don't but in the next couple I will be restarting the website where I should have some available 👍
Merci Jessy! I have installed a boost gage and get no boost at all. Disconnect at intake plenum and blowed air to verify if gage was working and it did. My truck runs good but going up steep hill slows down(leak of power). Did verify if turbo compressor wheel turn and it does. Original turbo 308 miles. Got a modify waste gate like yours but didn't put on yet. Jessy, realy plaisant watching your videos. Denis
Hey Dennis is there any way to tighten the spring of the wastegate? If so that may be the issue, tighten the spring and slow increments taking it for test drives in between tightening sequences and see if the boost actually comes up.
@@JessePelkey1 Jesse, last week did install Flo pro SS822 exhaust and what difference it makes. In same time with my friend mecanic we tried to get boost gage working and accordingly to my friend the turbo is not working. I have access to my friend's wrecking yard and took the turbo off an 1996 . Will recondition it and in 3 or 4 weeks will install. Jesse in the yard there is a 1997 with a motor that was changed (not much mileage) but the alternator is on driver side (mine on passenger side) and if ever my motor need to be changed will I be able to take that one? merci
I'm fairly new to the game been watching you for about a year you have helped me out more then anyone else, thank you keep it up . I' have driven my truck almost a 1000 miles total but got way too many hours under the hood lol . I am replacing the flex plate for the second time . bought this 94 for $400 with a 180000 miles on it it sat for a few years took me couple hours to fix a bad fuel line.Killer deal then well I already said the flex plate issues .any idea s why they broke the last one on the start up? I did buy another motor .it is 588e with 5000 miles on it that one cost me two grand . So I am just getting in the game , remind me of a boat I just don't see know lightat the end of the tunnel!lol have good day
Hey Jesse! You should do a video on how to get the most longevity out of a ds4 injection pump on a 6.5.
I can do that, thank you for the suggestion 👍
A million of us should put a letter together and send it to stanadyne and mopar seeing how mopar bought detroit diesel and tell them we want a real pump instead of those cavitating under pumping electrical nightmares ! A pump we can tune to kill or turn down to go to the grocery store. They can do it easily
@@stevenbean9706 I've been wanting to build a pump driver from a car audio amplifier but can't find a schematic for junk driver they currently sell.
Another good one, Jesse. I'm currently in the middle of swapping out injectors, glow plugs, and intakes to delete the egr. Just a heads up for those doing similar work, be prepared to spend days doing it rather than hours. Breaking old brittle parts, that have to be ordered, seems to be part of the process as the typical parts store carries very little when it comes to a vehicle that is approaching 30 years of age. The joy of owning an antique. 😁
I completely agree brother and thank you for watching the video man, I do appreciate it. Sounds like you have a full weekend ahead of ya, best of luck 👍
@@JessePelkey1 It's turning into a marathon. Got all the injectors and glow plugs replaced. Broke the transmission dipstick tube, the temp sensor for the ecu was brittle and broke, the belt tensioner needed replacing, the guy working on it suggested replacing the glow plug controller since I have a new harness and the snap in connector for the upper coolant pipe started leaking as soon as it was moved. Had to order parts so now it will be next weekend, maybe, before he can get back in it. Parts have to get here first but at least I found someone who knows his way around the 6.5 and willing to work around the delays. Hope he remembers where everything goes. 😆
I just installed manual waste gate and aboost gauge.. but the needle on gauge didn't even move. Followed ur instructions. What did I do wrong? Or it's telling me something else is bad?
My 6.5 has a hx40 and it makes 25 psi full throttle no head studs been running it for years like that
Im a mechanic myself and im currently doing an injection pump on a 97 gmc tow truck with a 6.5, i appreciate your knowledge and willingness to share so im gonna share some of mine for your dirty secrets confession about your turbo. I've been a mechanic for 25+yrs and im trained in not just automotive, im also trained in small engines and commercial industrial diesel repairs(i get bored easily and constantly like challenges). And in my years and professions I was taught one of the most crucial things a mechanic needs to know. Customers should always be told "Do as i inform, NOT as i do", because the most common misconception Customers make is thinking, oh he/she's a mechanic so everything they own must be in tip top shape, BULLSH*T. Nothing a mechanic owns is ever in tip top shape and half the time it's not even fixed right because it's ours and we know what we'll deal with if it breaks again. And the major reasons for this is because we're always fixing everyone else crap and being haggled down to peanuts to do it so we never have the time or the money to do it. So if we got the time, we're broke, and if we got the money, we're busy(also no real mechanic is gonna take a pride hit to pay someone else to do it for us, not to mention be judged for state of the vehicle or as said before what we jerry rigged to keep it going lmao😂)
Keep up the good work and remember. Mechanic don't lead by example with their vehicles, they prove how much crap theyll live with and just drive them.
I couldn't agree with you more brother, and thank you for sharing. As a Mechanic that has been doing this work professionally for the last 10 years. I was given the best explanation of why this is and find it more true every day. He said "mechanics vehicles are more often than not the most ugly, bubble gummed together vehicles on the road because, we are so tire form working on everyone elses broken things that we dont have the time, energy or or want to work on our own."
Was a professional mechanic for 15 years now a crane operator. Father of 5 with a stay at home wife who homeschools. Living in SoCal.
Daily drive my ‘94 6.5 c2500 it’s a mess lol. Time and money combined with the fact that i know it will run. Wife’s truck is the only one that gets repairs right away
Jesse I got mine running good again! Turned out the oil was way over filled causing my oil pressure to read low! I got a new turbo put on her last week! Gm8!
Glad to hear she's up and running again man 👍
I think your description on the wastegate is backwards, at least compared to my computer controlled 98. Spring pressure holds the wastegate open, and then when the vacuum solenoid applies vacuum to the wastegate it pulls it closed giving you boost. Vacuum gives you boost. This is opposite what you'd expect and means if you have a vacuum leak or vacuum solenoid failure you get 0 boost, rather than full boost in case of a failure.
I can’t find the blowoff valve on mine. Where is this located on a 6.5?
I have a 2000 GMC 6'5 how do you delete the air pump
The vacuum pump? I believe i made a video on doing so if you wanted to watch that.
My 93 had a bad wastegate it was get anywhere from 6-16 psi, so I swapped a Chinese hx40w and right now it will max at 21 I plan on lowering it and it has not had the cdr connected but it ok bc it's stuck open
Hi Jesse: Thanks for being Awesome. I'm learning a lot, and really appreciate your humor and attitude. I've got a '96 2 door Tahoe with the 6.5 and it started out awesome and now a year or two later not so much. No power, went from 20 to 14 mpg, and starts a little less immediately. Only 100,000 miles on it. I do think I got a bad tank of fuel about the same time performance fell off. I've kept up on maintenance, just did a lift pump and PMD and am curious about going to the early non-electronic injection pump. I would love to see a video on that swap, going from electronic to mechanical. I'm going to pull down the turbo for inspection when it stops raining. Also intending to give it fresh injectors and glow plugs.... Any suggestions about the loss of power? Places to look, things to consider?
Hey man, Thank you for watching and your kind words. I do greatly appreciate it. As far as the low power/ sluggish running issue you are currently having, I would definitely check the turbo for any play as well as the vacuum pump if it is still hooked up. If the vacuum pump is still hooked up I would recommend either deleting it entirely or at the very least installing a manual waste gate on the turbo. Also I would ask if you have any codes stored in the ECU that are currently not throwing a check engine light.
Pulling a load how much boost should a 6.5 have on takeoff and how much when you get up,to cruising speed
Hey we have one an it just started missing N dumping fuel in the oil. Injector?
Hooked OBD2 tester up to my 2000 3500 gmc 6.5l turbo diesel and had a P0236 Turbo/supercharger Boost Sensor A circuit range/performance code pop up seen in your videos couple of things but any idea of what it definitely could be without doing process of elimination of the few things I’ve seen it could be causing that code
Just bought a 6.5 Chevy 3500hd it’s an old ATT&T truck ,sometimes it doesn’t start ,I unplug a wire the last owner says goes to fuel ,plug it back in and it runs ,any ideas ?
It’s a 1996 if that says anything
Where exactly is the wait located?
Recently picked up a 94 C3500 utility body with the 6.5. It has 140k miles, 0 blowby, pmd relocate. Otherwise stock.
What could cause a hard start? Warm or cold, it always seems to turn over a few times before firing off. When it's cold, it seems like as soon as the oil pressure jumps up, it fires off. I'll drive it for a while, go to restart it, and it still cranks over several revolutions before firing off. Runs great otherwise.
Any thoughts 6.5 folks?
Honestly, it could be a multitude of things my friend. There wouldnt happen to be a check engine light on or have checked to see if there were any inactive codes stored in the ECU would you?
@JessePelkey1
No CEL haven't checked to see if any were cleared but been driving it.
By chance were does the egt probe location go a guy worked on my truck and didnt put it back
6.5L never came factory with an EGT probe so someone installed an aftermarket one at some point. The most common place to install one is on the passenger side exhaust manifold just before the turbo. That'd be where i would start looking
I have a request! Can you make a video on the starter if the plate that holds the starter falls off and breaks were the bolts hold the starter what can you do?
I sure can man 👍
So how much computer control does a 93 6.5 with a manual tranny have? The guy that owned it before me just wired the wastegate closed.
Very little, the injection pump is all mechanical, transmission like you said would be mechanical, doesn't take very much to make them run.
@@JessePelkey1 Thanks for the reply! That's what I thought (and hoped) I've got a "high output" canadian built according to my vin, do you know what the difference is? I thought maybe just bigger injectors or different timing/tune?
@jonnybo5890 bigger injectors, slightly advanced timing and stronger castings of the block itself from my understanding.
This maybe a silly question, but could a person take a alternative route an supercharge their 6.5? Also would their be any pros/cons to this, or is this just a bad idea in general?
I don't think its a bad question at all man. Truth be told to my understanding there has very little as far as testing if at all with a super charger on a 6.5L There are a few pros and cons to either one, but with realistically no one making the effort to make a kit or test a super charger on these engines its hard to tell how it actually responds.
@@JessePelkey1 yeah I've always been curious especially since with this particular engine it might actually make sense. However I'm definitely gonna be asking questions due to I'm in a debate between a 5.9 cummins 3rd gen, or a 6.5. I'm mainly looking on cost, easy diy, and I'll only be towing 8-9k 5k at an absolute max.
First thanks for all your videos and giving your knowledge on the 6.5. I have a 94 k3500 dually 4 door. I bought it with only 6400 miles. It now only has 6900. I have done the 3 inch down to 4 all the way back. Quadstar full flow intake cold air filter. Airdog 4g lift pump with Quadstar fsu. New 35 gallon fuel tank 1/2 inch line all the way to feed the beast mod. And manually app waste gate control on a gm 4. Now I'm planning on Quadstar tuner like the malty tuner. Pluse a new 54 or super 60. And advice on tuning other then calling Quadstar. Can I just tell them I want more out of my stock engin and they send me a tuner that will do that. Either way could you go over your experience with buying a tuner and options you have. And things to look for. Thaks again. Keep making 6.5 videos they are really helping. Bill.
Ty for the info u have out here for us I'm getting a 95 dually with the 5 speed and the 3rd gear grinds I believe it's the synchronizer but I wanna know how u would tackle that project.
I have a question. I have a 6.5 pumping air back through coolant reservoir. Is that blown head gasket or water pump cavitating
More likely a head gasket, the water pumps wouldn't really cavity to the point to allow air in the cooling system without visible leaks.
Ive been wondering for a while on if i were to update to a bigger turbo what would be the best options and what the pros and cons are. If u can can u do a video on this
I sure can man 👍
Thank you for another great video! Can you tell me how to adjust the boost on a stock 6.5L and how to measure that boost? Thanks (1996,K2500 with 330,000 mi, mechanic waste gate with Heath Diesel PCM)
Thank you Chris, and to answer your question, best way to measure the boost is to install a manual boost guage directly in the top of the intake horn or intake elbow. With a manual wastegate you could be able to tighten the adjustment on the spring to increase boost or back off the tension to decrease the boost.
I have a 6.5 with db2 and hx40 I don’t get any boost until about 2200 ish rpm’s and can not hear it from exhaust at all but can hear it loud in the cab about 25-3000 rpm’s and can feel it pick up with the spool but just ain’t right
Blew a head gasket what bolts should I order for more boost that's reasonable priced an whatcha think about doing to the head while I've got them out ??
Arp head studs, send heads to a machine shop to have valves and seats checked along with the heads checked for flatness and cracks.
When you increase boost do you have to increase fuel, with the resister in pmd
I have a 93 6.5 she’s pretty rough got glazing in 7 of the 8 cylinders but I’m gonna try and hone it out and then throw a set of rings in it and she should be cherry
Bad ass man 👍
Hey Jesse, I’ve got a 6.5 I’m planning on towing with I have the h35, 5 pos tuner with stock, quiet idle, light and heavy tow, and light performance, it has the 6.6 upgraded fan, relocated pmd, with a nv4500 trans, I’ll be towing a 34.5’ bumper pull pretty regular. How can I bring my egts way down for steep climbs I noticed yesterday in the stock setting and 5th gear on cruise I’m rising to around 8/880 degrees @ 70 mph it has a banks 4” as well
Using an intercooler and creating a better flowing exhaust greatly improve keeping your egts low
Question number two, back on my gm8 turbo with waste gate controller because my wastegate actuator died on my big turbo. So the gm8 was pushing 16-18psi now barely pumping out 4-8psi right after I got it out the shop after having my injection pump pcm replaced all grounds redone. Where is my boost going? I replaced the v band clamp between turbo to down pipe and it got worse. At this point I have upgraded injectors new fuel pump new injection pump new pmd new ecm fan and radiator upgrade the exhaust needs replaced but I don’t think it’s leaking bad enough for me to lose that much boost, i went from 24/26 with the hx 40 when I bought it back to 16-18 with the gm8 and now the gm8 is not managing to make 0-8psi
Got a p0238 code on my 96 chevy 6.5 not sure why or what I can check. If anyone has an idea or something I can check I would appreciate it.
Check out your MAP sensor bud 👍
My 95 6.5 is having an issue every time I hit 2500 RPM’s my check engine light comes on but goes after after I fall below 2200. I’m not sure if it’s a leak somewhere or if my air file ratio is off. Any ideas?
Have you tried pulling any codes as of yet? That may put us in some sort of direction to finding the issue.
@@JessePelkey1 i did but nothing came up I don’t think it’s storing the code
What’s my best option for a boost cooler? Overboost codes on 1995 6.5
recently had an oops with my thermostat housing.would you have any of them mine is a dual.98 gmc 6.5
1500 series
Crankshaft sensor fixed my stumbling and shutting dwn. So what do u think of installing a wicked impeller along with doing mech waste gate?
Wicked wheel is definitely an upgrade over stock, your egt's will stay lower and the turbo won't have to work as hard to make the boost. If I had to choose a stock gm turbo or a hx35 though, I'd take the hx35.
a farm tractor of mine the turbo still works but so much play shes pushing oil out the stack! thinking about throwing a good 6.5 turbo on it. i just gotta setup the boost. would you ever do a hx40 on your 6.5?
Absolutely, I was actually thinking about an hx40 for the service truck that I'm going to be building here in the future 👍
i’ve got a 97 3500 and i don’t know anything about diesels so don’t roast me but if i want to change injectors or the turbo or something like that is it the same thing like a car when i have to get it tuned? and if so what type of remote tuner would you recommend
You're good man, I don't see the point in downing anybody that's asking an honest question so you're good. The answer to your question is both yes and no at the same time. If you're just changing injectors say to like Marine injectors are good set of factory Bosch injectors then no you won't need any sort of tune or anything like that it's just adding more fuel. Changing turbos on the other hand can prove to be a different story. It really depends on the amount of boost you're throwing to it, if you go over that 10 psi mark and it starts throwing a code then you will have to get something in order to full the ECU into thinking it's reading the proper boost or get a tuned ECU. As far as recommendations for a tuner I personally like quadstar tuning. They seem to put a great products and I haven't had any issues out of anything that I've ordered from them. (I am not sponsored)
I got 95 obd1 heavy half. There is no EGR waste gate control none that stuff is on the driver's side at the back motor. Should that be there.
I got Carter lift pump p4601 HP. Can I hook lift pump to relay key power sew it runs all the time.
You can
To the best of mine knowledge, all of the 1500-65 turbo diesels were equipped with EGR. If your EGR valve is missing, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because I personally dislike EGR with a passion, but that's just me
Can a turbo code screw with no fuel delivery
Hey , I am finally working on my 6.5 project. I have one goal only. Making this thing stupid reliable. I don’t want more boost. I don’t want more power. It has 112k miles on it and it was passed down to me. It’s a 94. My current plans are new harmonic balancer as the old ones rubber is about to give. I don’t want to remove the vacuum pump because I am going to use it for a brake booster.
My current plans are:
New oil and water pump
Timing chain
Head gasket and studs.
Harmonic balancer
Rebuild turbo
New vacuum pump (chassis I am installing has a brake booster, or electric vacuum pump)
Bigger radiator
180f thermostat
Of course, going to reseal whole engine.
Anything else I am missing??
Good evening sir, I like your plan, I think its great. I read your list and the only thing I would recommend with everything you have mentioned and want to do, I would say instead of going back with a harmonic balancer I would pick up a fluid damper and a billet pull as well as doing a PMD relocation. The harmonic balancers are known for going out and breaking the crankshaft. I would also suggest and aftermarket lift pump, preferably one with remote fuel filters but i digress. The factor lift pumps will fail at some point and leave you stranded and a newer lift pump will insure proper liberation and fuel supply to the injection pump.
Also, if your rig is a DS4 truck, I would greatly consider a PMD relocation.
Can I install hx35 turbo without head studs..as long as I keep it under 10 pounds boost...
Yes
@@JessePelkey1 hey merry Christmas to you and your family...
@@tomrohn8607 you as well
Yeah I remember one time working on my 1997 P400 6.5L Diesel I had the intake all tour apart on it and I had paper towels stuffed inside the turbo intake to keep debris from getting inside it well as working on it and when I was putting it back together I forgot to take the paper towels out when I put the intake all back together the air cleaner box back together on it I started it up didn’t make any strange sound for anything but I sure noticed it when I drove down the street that I had a lot of black smoke coming out of it and the truck was not running right no power right there it dawned on me what I done wrong I left the paper towels inside the turbo like a dummy pulled over pull the paper towels out I believe there was dinner tight enough that the turbo didn’t spin up or nothing but there was no damage to the blades or anything they wouldn’t any paper have sucked in because the blades didn’t spin but I sure feel stupid and I deserve the stupid award for that one big-time stupid award but anyway the truck runs fine the turbo looks good it’s been several several months ago that’s my stupid move with the turbo
Been there done that, an expensive mistake I will never make again hahaha
New on the channel, and new with 6.5. How long can I run before blowing my head gasket etc? Am planning to remove the vacuum pump soon.
Depends on the boat level you run, if you keep it under 15psi you will be fine without head studs

Like what you are doing for the 6.5s. I've a few and have the normal problems time to time How do I get a hold of you for your thoughts?
Anyone know where to buy a good turbo? I’m new to 6.5’s, I need to replace my turbo, and my mechanic lets me bring my own parts. They’re available online, I’m just not sure I trust the websites I’m finding them on. Thank you guys so much!

Great video idea 👍
Thank you so much.
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video 👍 I appreciate it man.
So I have two 6.5s and run them at about 14 psi of boost but after that at 15 psi they both seem to cut power and then when boost drops they pick up again. One of the 6.5s has a hx35 on it and It still cuts out and in. Is that the turbo or does the stock fuel system not provide enough fuel?
Actually my 6.5 with the stock turbo has a upgraded fuel pump so there it might be the turbo and the other one has the oem fuel pump yet, I know I need to upgrade it, but do you think that would solve the problem for the 6.5 with the hx35?
Great vid.
Got the 6.5 running with the pump you sent me , thank you again so much you are awesome i learned a lot about these 6.5s some good but mostly all the bad ..so much for Pensacola diesel and their b's lies and theorys that it was me and my truck that had the problem. They told me they were going to refund me my 500 two days later there was 500 in my account then it was gone a day later ! They used my account number to get a personal loan in my name for 500.00 a loan i never authorized ! Real great people the fbi traced it to a computer address in pensacola florida ! Scam artists is what they are.. It ran for 5 minutes on its own I gave it throttle and it died ! I checked everything there was to check turned the key and the lift pump mysteriously stopped priming and glow plugs wouldnt heat .? Not sure what was up but i checked the fuel shutoff solenoid and there was zero power going to the fuel shutoff solenoid as well , I went through all the fuses and found the glow plug fuse blown. ? Does the glow plug fuse run the fss and the lift pump ? Not sure but I replaced it gonna look into it more tomorrow but I've gone through and done about everything and anything imaginable to this truck . Any ideas other than a case of dynamite ?
Check your oil pressure switch. The transfer pump gets power while you are cranking, then once oil pressure builds to about 4 psi the contacts in the oil pressure switch close and the switch powers the control relay for transfer pump.
You should also get a voltmeter and measure voltage at the transfer pump. Be sure you have good voltage and good ground in the circuit.
Mine had 12 volts power, was working, but would not provide enough volume. Rock Auto has replacement.
Be sure to also change out your fuel filter and clean the filter housing.Fill the housing up 1/2 way with fuel then install the filter.
You can bypass oil pressure switch (AS TEST only) by jumpering orange wire to grey wire.
Pump should run at all times and provide fuel to filter.
This circuit is hot 12 volts at all times. Be sure to reconnect wiring back to original after the test.
Tank you for all the informations you give us, really appreciate. Do you at how much pressure you can go without an inter-cooler?? Because you can't boost the manifold pressure for ever cause what you gain in pressure you loose it in density due to the heat generated by the compress air. At a certain point you don't put more air into the cylinders even if you increase the pressure and you get all the problems crated by an too hot intake air.
Also I beg you not to start cutting the video between sentences to accelerate the debit speed. I just can,t listen to a video when there is no breath between sentences, it drive me crasy after 2 minutes!! Your rhythm is good and your English is clear, stay like this please.
I'm also interest at the procedure to install a mechanical injection pump instead of electronic one if you have time one of this day. My truck is an 1994 2500 HD Silverado.
Tank again!!
You need a 6.5 suburban to haul the family around 🙂

Which factory gm turbo is best?
Gm8 is the best factory side mount turbo for the 6.5l 👍
What year are they
@@andrewbeveridge3006 they can be found on 97 and newer but if your shopping for one it will say GM8 stamped into the compressor housing.

A potentiometer and two wires is a boost fooler
Oh man I have to show you mine lol
This is a turbo from cave junction Oregon
The problem I am finding with the boost foolers is that they all still need a functioning vacuum pump setup, which I have deleted. So my truck goes into limp mode anytime I keep the rmp's over 2500 for any extended amount of time. I have a manual wastegate controlled set to 10psi.
Agreed, it is a bit of a pain to keep the pump around and a tune is a much better system to go with.

All in good time, for now it's getting me by and I don't want to put money towards a turbo setup that I'm eventually going to do away with. I'll find another turbo to get me by untill then.
