This is orchestrated so perfectly it really captures the sheer beauty of mario games and video game music in general. I hope you all feel the same way and are enjoying the music!
This is the last music that made me stand still in a game to just listen to the music in a videogame...Haven't done that since the Gameboy days before !
I do have a few newer ones (Baldurs gate being the newest. I love the song that's playing for Aylin) But Mario has this special spot in my heart, especially when it comes to music. I think the Galaxy games have the best Music of all Mario games. Nothing beats Rosalinas Observatory.
I remember getting this game when I was 9 years old in 2010. I remember playing through it like it meant my life. It really made me connect to games in a strong way, making them seem like a true adventure. And this music helps to perfectly convey that. I lost the game for many years until 2020, when a 19-year old me finally picked up a new copy, and I am so thankful I did. Returning to this game and revisiting this music was one of the greatest decisions I made. Happy soon to be 12 years to this game!
i still have my copy of this game fresh and clean mostly because my wii broke a few months after i got galaxy 2 (but i still beat it) maybe it might be used again if nintendo's future consoles has backwards wii disc compatibility or something
I like how the hub world of sorts isn’t too complex, it’s just a chill lobby. I also think the upbeat OST is ideal as it gets you ready for new missions!
I was whistling this song earlier while riding my bike and a lovely old lady stopped to tell me it was nice to see someone whistling because not many people whistle these days. All I could think to myself was "why", I mean happiness is essentially free for the taking
I’ve whistled in the shower before 😁 but nah it’s pretty cool you’re able to whistle this song! I think it’s pretty advanced, would you ever upload a vid?
@@JJ_0134 I was more thinking about the inherent irony of the situation, I've got the Starship Mario theme knocking around inside my head from a Nintendo game, and somehow it's making a 90 year old lady feel nostalgic for the good old days It's probably an inherent quality most Mario music has, there is nothing jaded or cynical about it whatsoever
I havent touched the game in several years and yet this still feels nostalgic Edit: just downloaded it on Dolphin emulator and I've never cried harder happy tears in my life.
There's nothing I'd love more than to come back to this...I remember holding the controller clearly and moving around with Yoshi on the ship. I miss this so much. It's been around 13 years since I've played this but it's still unforgettable.
A lot of the tracks from the first SMG game are super emotional and melancholic (the best example for me is the Space Junk Galaxy theme which is probably the best in the whole game). You really feel like you are alone, soaring through planets and stars. On the other hand, a lot of tracks in SMG2, such as this one, make you feel like you are floating above the sky and through the clouds. Euphoric is probably the best way to describe it.
This song makes an oboe sound good lol. But yeah as a clarinet player this song hits hard. It feels so artistic, as if it was designed to be music in itself, it doesn't feel designed specifically for kids whatsoever, which i find positive.
Naaaah... es tan perfecto, para mi siempre sera el mejor Mario y es casi imposible que cambie esa opinión... es tan HERMOSO... Maravilloso todo este videojuego
My family once had a Wii, but I didn't play it once cuz I had a reaction time of 3 seconds and litterally no depth perception. Both my older sister and dad played this game, but our Wii broke before I developed my gamer reflexes. 2023: Six years passed since I last touched those almighty discs with solid instructions attached. I am currently seeing what new middle schools to enter, currently Shepard school on 2 Miller road “enters game room and sees person on wii” well dats nothing it’s Wii Sports too boring I NEED TO USE THOSE GAMER REFLEXES! 2 secs later looks in cabnet and sees SUPA MARIO GALAXY 2 And since that, this is my all time favorite game. Exept maybe minecraft.
I feel like the first one was a bit more atmospheric and spacey, and the second one was a lot more pleasant and happy feeling. Maybe that's why I played the shit out of the second one at first and then I got really into the first one later on.
I feel like Mario Odyssey was sorta this game's sequel. It's not part of the same series of course, but it feels like a continuation in spirit. At least, their rousing musical scores are something they have in common if nothing else.
