This made me appreciate Circadian Dice even more for it aproach to tutoring player. Spook Squad has some interesting ideas, but I'm not sure if i have ever seem more atrociously explained game. The fact that Retro, person that played a lot of rogue-esque games, couldn't grasp basic mechanics during 1 hour video and I can't really blame him for that is incredible.
Tutorial only makes sense after playing for a bit and like he said it may actually made it more puzzling for normal players, calling enemy action dice an intent dice is confusing, there is no mean to check monsters special attacks, dice position explanation is given two tiles after getting first treasure for no visible reason, the only way to know what are risk and benefits from bonus dice is recognising symbols on faces and that just some of problems.

That was a upgrade shop 39:00.The yellow parts of enemy dice are special attacks. It's way simpler than you think!

This game looks pretty cool, but they really need to work on getting all the information across in a way that's easier to understand.

This video really helped, I'm working on that now. Every video shows something new that needs to be explained better!

@@werth79 Just working on that now to make your stats more clear. Since it said "Attack +1", that's kinda misleading and it's now "Attack Stat:1"
And thanks for your support with the game too!

While there are some bits that I figured out quickly that confused you for a while, I chalk that up to no/bad titles/tooltips and commentary/entertainer distraction. I had to pay close attention to the design of the dice to see the differences and gain understanding.
The one thing that you missed the most and will help everyone is understanding how the upgrades work. The one shop was a upgrade location (not obvious at first - the die being colored vs white was what I first noticed), thus that one die had no price because it was already upgraded. And when an upgraded die is placed in a “stat” die, the stat goes up by one - a part mentioned in the tutorial, but not preformed/reinforced at that time.
All that being said, there is no excuse for not putting the special meter on the basic UI. Or the glitch that cost you the 30 souls in the tutorial. Or not forcing you to use the charge die (the one that does the most varied things) in the tutorial.

You've got the upgraded dice in stat slots spot on. Could I ask what you mean by the Basic UI for showing the Special meter? When you hover the Special skill icon in battle it does show your current progress to filling the Special Meter, would i be beneficial elsewhere?
The glitch in the tutorial is my mistake, it was caused by the 'Theres a rare Module in the shop' bonus.
The tutorial is designed to be hands-off as I'm not a fan off ones that would force you to Attack, then force you to Shield, then Charge. However more could be done to empty the player's Battery to encourage them charging.

the shop where you though you bought a dice was infact an upgrade

from what I gatgher, the 'quality' of the dice in the lower set of dice (the stat dice I think it was called?) changes the bonuses. The gun seems to have default +3 charge then the basic dice gives +1, semi rare dice +2, and rare dice add a +3 to that statt. That's why adding the dice to replace battery or attack on 53-55 minute mark changed the bonuses and made them larger

Finn's Stats are Attack:1, Shield:1, Charge:4. Putting an upgraded dice (with a yellow frame) in one of the bottom 3 slots increase the related stat by 1.
However it pointed out a bug when he bought the dice from the Shop of adding that 1 again, showing his Attack and Shield as 3 instead of 2.

at 15:26 it seems you lost all of your 30 Ghost Jars after leaving the shop. No clue why though. This game seems like a lot of fun but could really do with a lot more clarity.

He also only had 13 Ghost Jars before entering the shop

And the hammer shop was probably an upgrade shop, not a die shop :)

Man I love this game! It's a bunch of mechanics stacked on top of each other which is really overwhelming at first, but it's really satisfying once you figure out the huge slew of terminology being foisted upon you. Definitely a game you need to play a bunch to get the hang of!

two major thing. tutorial is confusing. UI needs some work- is huge. I undersand that the game is playful but in some places is too much- but i love the idea and i will keep this game in my list.

This game could be more enticing to buy if they had a proper way to explain things. The tutorial is all wacked, the dice modification is just presuming a lot of things. All in all if they made the game more easy to understand I would buy it. But as it currently is it aint worth my time

Game looks cute but way too much word soup that makes no sense. The dev team should really ease players into new concepts and words so it's not so overwhelming right off the bat.

Don't worry, this video really helped shine a light on what the tutorial should explain. I updated it shortly after this and players have said its much clearer. There's also a demo on Steam if you're interested in trying for yourself!
