  • Double Down on Your TIG Welding Skills | Two TIG Root Techniques!
    TIG welding a root while holding the filler wire at the top and the bottom of the bevel is a technique that can provide improved weld quality and control. In these two techniques, the filler wire is held at the top and the bottom of the bevel and fed into the weld pool as the torch moves along the joint.
    To perform these techniques, you will need to establish the proper arc length between the tungsten electrode and the workpiece. The filler wire should be held at a 10-degree angle to the joint and fed into the weld pool as the torch moves along the joint.
    It is important to maintain a consistent travel speed and maintain proper torch angle and distance throughout the weld.
    With practice and attention to detail, this technique can produce high-quality welds with excellent control and precision.
    None of these videos are recorded in a fancy shop surrounded by sponsorship banners!
    My videos are recorded at working sites in various locations and welding positions.
    90% of my welding projects in videos are x-rayed, and if you like to see hands-on projects, welcome!

    When i saw the uniformity of the root (from the inside) i got chills 😎. Very high skills was shown on this video.
    Also i love the part ,where you share that is ok, to pull the torch back to reposition the wire feeding hand. When i do the same in front of the instructor or test, i always try to hide that so nobody could see me ,cause i was thinking they might say it's wrong. Thanks for letting us know that was actually right 🙏.

    I can never go from bottom to top. I always get a horrible sag and way too much filler in my root. These are some good tips. I guess just need practicing.

    I just love the way how you hold the wire man! I’ve never seen anyone holding it like that, they all usually hold it the same way. Btw : to perform this, you really need to be skilled and experienced! Tnx man for another great one!

    Sim mestre observei que controle da amperagem na abertura da orisontal é também muito importante para que possa adicionar o material nas partes de cima e de baixo do bisel quando a abertura não está fora do padrão obrigado pela orientação 🙏 Bela apresentação

    Hey man love the videos, I always make the bottom look good on 6 in sch 40 running 110 for root, I turn down to like 85-90 when coming past 3 o clock , but still get grapes (even with keyhole dip) on the top. Is it normal to have to turn it down that much? also I am free handing and keeping the tungsten straight, not so leaned over. Should I lean it back on the top?

    • @X3MTIG
      @X3MTIG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s ok to turn the amps down a bit, also try to speed up on that section, that might help you!

    Maybe you could make a video about how to weld the pipe in 5g position so that it stays straight in level. I mean is it correct to weld in quarters or half and second half?

    • @X3MTIG
      @X3MTIG  ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends from the material and fit up, but half’s at the bottom should be fine.

    do you ever have to pre heat or sweat out the material first? would your technique change much if the butt was 150° or 260° these are the 2 common pre heat’s i work with for rooting

    • @X3MTIG
      @X3MTIG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks my friend. The best pipe to practice is anywhere from 4” up to 8”. Try with 1/8 tungsten.
