About JID using his flow like an instrument, there’s a Rakim interview where he compares his flow/writing style to John Coltrane’s saxophone playing. Trying to find as many notes and the best way to fit them within a bar/measure. That’s how I see JID’s flow also.

I think its cause he's a combination of that intense rock-rap like Florida sound which isn't really loved by everyone except fans of like X, Ski Mask, Smokepurp etc... and actual genuine good old school lyricism so its like he trying to satisfy to very different groups of music together at the same time so not all of it will always resonate with some. Personally, I adore both sounds being a huge fan of Ski Mask, X etc... but was brought up on stuff like DOOM, Three Six, Wutang etc... so it is like a match made in heaven for me big fan of Denzel one of my fave new school artists by far
