When I found out that JID was a drummer it made his insane flows make absolute sense. He raps with a grasp of rhythm that only a drummer can have.

JID is probably, simultaneously, a producer's wildest dream and worst nightmare. He's going to challenge the beat and if it's not hard, he's easily going to overshadow the beat. On the flip side, he really seems like the type of artist to bring out the best in a produce/ do whatever they want to do since they know he'll be able to weave in and out of the beat
ALSO... y'all did not just casually mention meeting one of the dopest singers in rock.
These 2 guys are the biggest gateways into rap. JID cause he's incredible and everybody recognises. Denzel cause every Metal/ Rock fan listens to him and loves it. His cover of Bulls on Parade got him so many metal fans

As a metal fan, Denzel's semi-growling has been always been fun for me to listen to for years now. Besides that these two are future legends and the track is absolutely insane.
JID is always one with the beat. It almost feels like the beat follows HIM! His flows are just so creative and his delivery and SILKY ASS TRANSITIONS!! you can’t deny he just has a gift... Also we have to appreciate how hard Denzel went for this, I totally agree with the mutual respect but competitiveness, they raised each other up for sure.
saw JID live for the first time at dreamville fest last weekend and watching the way he commands the stage and rocks the mic LIVE is truly a sight to behold

I'm not really a huge fan of Rap but watching you guys react and break down the Rap songs has given me an appreciation for the art and lyricism of the genre. I remember old school Rap seemed to be about how clever you could be with your use and flow of the words, and somewhere along the way, Rap (mainstream commercial rap) lost that clever edge...It's good to see that aspect of the genre make a powerful return. Thanks for taking an old school metal head back to school.
Rap has never lost its cleverness. Just a lot of sub genres in rap/hip hop.

The fact that you guys discussed J.I.D. with Myles Kennedy is insane. Both of these guys are at the top of my playlists; Kennedy since One Day Remains and Juvenile In Distress since The Never Story. Emulating these guys’ voices, as a vocalist, is one hell of a way to practice.
