    So many people want to "lower" their rides for style, then comment in all the shock review vids, saying their ride sucks. Lower = shorter travel = rough ride. A taller shock with the proper sag adjustment will save you money at the chiropractors office... and you'll actually be able to ride for more then 10 miles at a time... which might save you some money for those trailers people buy.

      If you go to progressive’s website, put in your bike info and it will tell you what the stock length is. For the best ride I would recommend the stock length shock as it should give you the most travel to absorb compression.

    Great video man, how are these shocks after a year now. Also want to ask that you got the 13” shocks what is the size after installation? Does it come down to 12.5” or still 13”?

    • @whatcomesnext5865
      @whatcomesnext5865  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am still satisfied with these shocks. We have put a lot of miles on them. I did not measure the shocks after the final installation. You set the pre-load on the shocks according to the installation instructions. This ensures that you have the proper amount of travel once you and your passenger are on the bike.
      I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    If you change the preload to the lowest setting does it lower the bike or just stiffen it up

    • @whatcomesnext5865
      @whatcomesnext5865  ปีที่แล้ว

      The spring preload only effects the sag of the bike based on the weight of the rider, passenger, and gear. It will affect the compression and rebound of the shock if the shock piston (via the spring) is not set to the proper preload.

    • @whatcomesnext5865
      @whatcomesnext5865  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. They made a big difference! It's always best to get a stock length shock so you keep/maintain the appropriate length of travel. A shorter shock will have less travel.

    My stock suspension on my 21 ultra limited is 13 inch as well as the progressive 412s I just installed but they lowered my bike about 1 inch. Adjusting the preload will raise my bike?

    • @whatcomesnext5865
      @whatcomesnext5865  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did it lower without the rider, passenger, and gear? If both shocks were 13 inch then it should remain at stock height with out the rider, etc. If the height was lowered with the rider, passenger, and gear on the bike, then you will need to adjust your preload. Progressive has pretty good instructions on their site. I hope this was helpful.

    I just put 11 1/2 inch on my Nomad. I'm very disappointed in the too firm ride. Maybe the 13 inch would have been better, but with my stock shocks, i floated over pot holes, so would have been no point. It is a trade off as i'm a short guy and have more confidence with this top heavy bike.
