Fact 102: nintendo probabaly decided to release this game before ps5 and xbox so people can buy this instead of those consoles.
I can't picture anyone who would reach for a 60$ lazy port of some (admittedly great) mario games over a next-gen console.

5:28 the bombs are part of a bigger secret where some butterflies give 1ups when punched. This is later expanded on with sets of 3 butterflies that have 2 explosives and a 1up. It is not referencing anything.
5:36 reaching the top of the flagpole rewards only 5000 points in the Super Mario Bros for the NES. The first game to reward 1ups is the lost levels for the Famicom in japan and the SNES in the rest of the world. Personally I think It's probably is just a reward to teach you to climb poles/trees and do a handstand especially because mario bros 2 3 and world didn't have flagpoles so it's would be a reference to a mostly Japanese exclusive mario game.
9:12 most of the information here is from rumors and shouldn't be treated as fact. It is very difficult to find the texture of the book, so it is hard to know if the rumored message exists.
It wouldn't be a Switch Stop video without him mentioning 3D World at least once.

As a music nerd, the thing at 18:50 is so cool to me.
Like, the timing for the jump is specifically one eighth note before the first beat of each measure, and each block hit is on each first beat if you time it correctly.
I do like that (from what I can tell) whether or not your timing is a bit off, the sounds from the blocks when you time it "well enough" still happen right on the beat, so that it's always satisfying to listen to if you get all cherries.
Edit:
Upon watching a different video, I've learned you can also do the jump right on the beat, so maybe the window for the jump is wider than I thought, or maybe the game only cares that you jump at the same relative time every measure.
Whatever the case, this is a fun little trick to know for when I inevitably buy the Switch port of 3D World.

Fun fact 101: when Thomas first saw the Mario direct he had an actual seizure that gave him amnesia. He had to be resuscitated and then before they let him watch the direct again after coming to, they had to give him a pill that would lower his energy and keep him in check when he watched the direct again.

tbh it's pretty obvious the way NIntendo is heading:
after half a year they remove the collection from stores and the eshop, and they release all games separately including mario 64 HD, but they also release the 64 switch online with the OG 64 in it. After that galaxy 2 is announced to come shortly after all of this.
I've been hoping for something like this. Maybe once you 100% all 3 games you unlock Galaxy 2. That would be amazing.

I preordered all stars the day after it was announced lol I’m so excited. 64 and galaxy are two of my all time favorite games and sunshine is a completely new game for me. I’m so excited to play all of them 🤩
It's funny how Mario has "Italian heritage" given he was born in Mushroom Kingdom and Italy doesn't techinally exist in his world.

Some criticism:
If you do one of these videos again, don't do the switch sound effect every time, it gets annoying pretty quick.
The first game to feature 1-Ups if you hit the top of the flagpole was actually New Super Mario Bros., which came out after 64.
How DARE you mention Super Mario Odyssey but not say Isle Delfino is actually on the map in Odyssey.
Sometimes you mention things but don't show them off, like how Bowser's car can play a Super Mario World sound that I have no idea what is because you never played it.
I totally agree with all of these! I do think it would be significantly longer if they showed everything they mentioned

I’ve played Super Mario 64 DS ever since getting my DS in 2009 and I’ve played Super Mario Galaxy since getting my Wii in the same year. I got Sunshine in 2011 but never played it past the first level since it was too hard for 7 year old me. I got Super Mario 64 on the N64 in 2012 but never played it since it wasn’t my childhood version. I’ve always regretted never playing the original 64 or Sunshine and can’t wait to experience these great games on the Switch. It might be backlog, but I can’t express how much that backlog means to me.

Lots of the facts were really interesting but the fact about climbing on top of the pole is wrong as getting on top of the pole in super mario bros only gives 5000 points and not a one up, that was only added in new super mario bros so maybe nsmb was actually a reference to super mario 64 and not the other way.

Fact 103: Koopa's coming out of their shells in Super Mario 3D World is a reference to Super Mario World, where they did the exact same thing.
Fact 104: Just like in Super Mario World, if you jump on a Koopa and leave, it will go back to its shell.
Fact 105: Koopa's chasing you if you take their shell is another reference to Super Mario World.
Fact 106: Those "Goombas" in Super Mario 3D World are NOT Goombas. Their actually Galoombas, the same thing from, you guessed it, Super Mario World. Funny how a very similar name can be a reason to bring back enemies and functions long gone.

Two more facts about Mario 64:
1. The version used in 3D all stars is the shindu version which patched the BLJ
2. Because Mario’s controls were not popular when the game was in development, it was programmed so that if your jump was close enough to the platform you’d make the jump no matter what
I am excited I cannot wait for the game I have never played Mario galaxy and Mario sunshine and they look so fun and I am going to get them at lunch
I pre ordered it and don't even own a switch YET, mario 64 was the most ground breaking game as a child i can't wait to play it again as well as playing the other two for the first time

I had the luxury to get a wii and a gamecube on launch but didn't have the luxury of having a n64 thats why i'm getting the 3d all stars so hyped for this collectors set !
I wish the graphics in mario 64 were updated like how they did for the ds, as well as adding that additional content🤷🏼♂️ Same with sunshine, the remaster should of just added some of the deleted content. Both should of added multiplayer too
