Hello Americans! It looks like TH-cam has shown this video to loads of you in the past 48 hours so hello! In this video I call the Ranger Raptor a BIG TRUCK. That's because in England, where I live, it's significantly bigger than the Peel P50s we run around it amongst our dwarven thatched cottages. But if you want to leave a comment telling me that the F150 and F250 are bigger, go ahead. Stay a while, subscribe and I'll be around in a minute with tea and biscuits (proper biscuits, not those weird scone things you eat) x
Tim, on that note, have you seen Richard Hammond's videos with his RAM TRX truck? By comparison, I think the Ranger Raptor would be far more livable, dare I say practical even!
Your description is accurate. In Australia we have 100 more hp and it is so much fun to drive. Biggest problem is everyone wants to drag you at traffic lights. Haven’t been fined you but I’m sure it will happen.
About time they went back to the Roots on the Ranger. V6 was the original before the 4 cylinder. Bring back the 3.0L Valcon back is greatest. Hope it's the Valcon engine. I do some research.
All of Europe only gets 292 hp, but it's the same engine all over the world. There is only one chip that differs from the 405 hp they have in the US and Asia
A tuner was telling me the it is because of a fuel particulate filter? For emissions. Has to be removed and bench tuned ? Not sure how correct that is ? I’m trying to find someone to tune mine.
Just entered a competition to win one of these (ok, so we both know I won't actually win it, but it's not drawn yet, so dreams are still a thing)! It's orange too - a bit like my KTM 1290 SAS, so it feels like destiny and I'm delighted to see a Tim Rodie review of the thing that suggests it's a bit like the 1290 - big, stupid fun and a bit practical, in the right situation.
American waiting calmly. Our v6 version comes in at 405hp….and the Aussies have Herrod tuning for 550hp on dyno!!! I’m sure it’s a computer cracking tune, that’ll get you chaps right here with us!!! Also a set of Eibach coils and you can fit 35” tires!!!😊
Watching from the US its funny to hear him go on about how long and wide the truck is. Here in the US this is considered a small truck. I wonder what he would think of my lifted F-250?
There are larger vehicles available for moving more cargo around, all the way up to what you would call semi-trucks. There's no need for the F-250 because the alternatives are cheaper and more practical.
Great review - Just the thing for those that are happy to get into £62k worth of debt just to prove they don’t have a small tallywacker when they pop to Aldi to pick up some milk
The commercial vehicle tax status isn't as straightforward on the other (normal) Ranger models either. Ford deliberately doesn't supply the Wildtrak rear roller shutter as standard for the UK market in order to just get it over the 1 tonne payload threshold for UK commercial vehicle BIK tax status. Yet the majority of buyers then stick one on as a dealer supplied fixed accessory which instantly drops the payload below 1 tonne and is no longer then classed as a commercial vehicle whilst, at the same time, continuing to incorrectly claim commercial vehicle BIK tax concessions.
There is a company named Herod that adds about another 100hp here in Aus (for circa 3k Stirling). Total now is about 500hp and Herod backs the factory warranty if anything happens… Sorry UK, you missed out this time….
Totally silliness. It’s a pass from me but it’d be a fun hire if you were on holiday in a desert. . BTW, is the caravan alight yet? I’m sure it wasn’t left there by our Irish friends
You could easily live with an F150 in the UK. It's smaller than a LWB Merc Sprinter and they get everywhere. UK has many narrow lanes but they'll fit. And the highway lanes here are same width as USA.
YES….proper totally want one….totally 😃👍 I’m currently driving a Wrangler 4xe (because of French tax being massive on the proper engine), which hits 60 in 6.5 and spooks a lot of boy racers….. but I see a raptor in my future! Without leather seats, not least cos they get silly hot in summer, but, and it’s a big butt……why don’t they do a proper all indoors longer cabin 5 door thing like the wrangler?? I know some folk would say “that’s a bronco”, but it ain’t is it. Please can I have 5 door raptor….. please! With a 3ltr engine and 50 miles of electric range…….please!
It's called an Everest and available in Australia and Asia, here in France only the military gets it. Would get one myself in a heartbeat, currently drive a ranger.
Absolute bags of shit!!… a pal had one & it spent more time with Ford than it did with him!!…. After 13 weeks he gave it back & went back to his sport transits!
Tim, you didn't mention how it automatically makes you want to tailgate and bully other road users or is that just an AUS thing in em (well most dual cab 4x4 utes that have massive lift and knobly tyres) going by the cliche 😂 Should have said 0-60 is quite raptorly instead of rapidly, misses pun opportunity 😂😂 or impromptu tow test with the dumped caravan 😂😂😂 Just taking the piss, good review as always 👍🏻

With that rant out of the way..... As far as I know that is the same Exact engine in the US version so not only will you be able to hack the ECU and re-tune it with no issues or reliability to US specs I expect the ecu wizards out there will be able to hit the 470-500hp ish with TUNE, Intake, and Exhaust.. Not to mention once they start making bolt on kits for it / bigger turbos ... I was looking at get the big boy version of this but if I'm being honest I'm going to give it a few months see what mods come out and maybe go this route.. I've seen a few of these and kinda digging it.. Luckily I'll have the ability to start at the 405hp version..
so.... It is a pick up that cant pick any thing up! a 60 grand pick up. Honestly just buy a passat estate, and dont worry about the off road abilities that almost no one that buys a raptor would ever use... Basically, this truck is pointless. especially for that insane price tag
Each to their own. Way too noisy and thirsty. And obviously not the great low down toque band of the V6 Diesel. Raptor with the V6 diesel would have been great
@@stephenmiller501 yeah and it's a gem. Just sadly not in the Raptor. Having that suspension available to the V6 Diesel would have been great. Simply for the better ride quality and better articulation crawling through some rough terrain.

Great car, I’ve heard that the Raptor is actually the most comfortable Ranger as well. The interior is so good.

Well, Sweden only gets 292hp from the v6 engine... But I wonder if it's the same engine, so a simple tune can get it to the 400hp.

I just noticed the rear seat vents. The US versions don’t get them for some reason…

The UK variant is about 100bhp down on the Aussie version because of EU/UK emission regulations. Could have been even better!
