  • Our Birth Story (scariest moment of my life)
This is our birth story. Births don't usually go to plan and ours was no different. The actual birth went fine.. but afterwards it turned in to a serious situation very quickly. Luckily, everyone is safe and healthy and we are able to introduce you all to Noah Skye Collins and start our own little family.

    ⭐ About Travel Beans:
Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:
2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!
2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.
2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.
2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!
    What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. If you enjoy this kind of content we'd recommend checking out our Italy Road Trip series, USA vanlife series and our Japan in a Tiny Van series as well as our UK vanlife content.
Our time spent overcoming depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. We love sharing the highs and lows of our trips through our videos and hope to spread a little positivity and light to all of the beautiful people who take the time to tune in and watch each week!

Take your time! We will be here! And congratulations again on your impossibly adorable little Noah. Like, seriously, how cute is that little guy?! We have three children, and while they are preteens/teenagers now, I still remember when they were born and how precious that newborn time is. They make a lot of squeaks and it’s awesome. Take care of yourselves and Noah. Not sleeping much can be hard so make sure you are getting rest whenever you can. Emma, we’re so grateful you are recovering and that you had such a wonderful medical team around you. All the best!

You made it look so peaceful, serene, loving, even during an emergency. Congrats a million times over! I won't share my whole birth story, but my kids are 20 and 16, and times have changed, but my experience in the American hospital was much different. I hemorrhage with my first because my uterus wouldn't contract, but I was able to be revived through transfusions. I was alone, split from my partner, my mother was deceased, and my friend, who was supposed to be my support, was violently ill with stomach flu. My ex-partners mother got there to be with me as quickly as she could. Aw, you two are just the sweetest couple. Love the three of you!

You both did great! My husband & I married 40yrs had 7 individual births, all are unique & none like another - loved every bit of it. I suggest you guys sleep when Noah sleeps. Emma ur body makes milk from WATER 💦 best to drink a full glass of water each time you nurse - 1/2 glass while Noah nurses on each side. Plus drink water in between nursing. Also, rotating Noah’s nursing positions each time he nurses & rotating last side he nursed as 1st side at his next meal will help tons from getting you sore or having nipple blisters.
God bless all 3 of you.

I too shed a tear of happiness and remembrance for both my children's very different births... the second child almost disappeared down the toilet when I arrived at the hospital, but they didnt take "action "when I said "I am having a baby".... "Just go to the toilet dear" and next minute with the alarm activated the nurses were saying "oh ... you ARE HAVING THE BABY.".. "er yesssss". The dear child hardly waited for me to be horizontal... the rest was not so good as I lost 3.5 stone over night! She ran many rings around me in her childhood and adolescence! I still love her like the day she was born!
You will remember this day and celebrate in all the years to come with Noah....AND how nice to have footage .... He is so sweet.... the miracle of new life - with tears of joy one couldn't help be in awe and happy for the bean pods!

A wonderful story. I enjoyed traveling with my babies, 3 children, and seeing the world through their eyes. I'm looking forward to seeing the world through your eyes watching Noah.

Congratulations to you both. I was a student nurse and saw a lady bleeding following birth and it is so scary and a very good reason to have a hospital birth! Wishing you a speedy recovery Emma, you’re going to have so much fun with Noah when he’s a bit older, best experience of my life. My son is 22 now and I have no idea where the time went - enjoy every second x

I’m glad you got that special bonding time with your little…and so relieved Emma is safe and sound.
Congratulations (please take that time to stay in your new born bubble)

Welcome to this world, Noah! And congratulations, Beans!
Yes, giving birth is rarely going on as we planned. It humbles us and prepares us for this endless and greatest journey of our life - the parenting journey. All other journeys get bleak in comparison.
You got this. The love both of you share, the patience, and the goodness you show to each other - will help you on the way. You are going to laugh, cry, rejoice, and bless each other each and every day. A child is the greatest miracle we can receive. Be good stewards of this gift, because Noah deserves the best.

Emma you did an amazing job and the joy on your faces when little Noah was born was beautiful to witness. I can imagine how poor Alex must have felt when you Emma being whisked away to theatre so soon after being proud of witnessing the birth of your son and you too Emma not knowing what was happening. So glad you three were soon reunited. So nice to have a video of the birth in my day that was not done and I wish I had the privilege of having the birth of all my 5 children on camera. Glad to see the Travel Bean family together.

Did not expect to have a little window into Noah’s birth story. I think you did a great job filming the process. Emma welcome to motherhood. Giving birth for the first time is a transformative event in a women’s life. One child will fit nicely into the parent’s lifestyle so I know there will be loads of fun adventures to come. Congratulations to you both and best wishes from New Zealand

OMG guys, cried through most of that!!! So moving and emotional. Firstly though, congratulations on the birth of beautiful Noah - he's absolutely gorgeous. Hope Emma is recovering well. Enjoy every single moment with your boy - time goes so quickly. Also, this is the time you realise why sleep deprivation is used as torture :)... Rest up, sleep when Noah sleeps and try to have at least one hot cup of tea/coffee a day. Sending much love to you all... Congrats again
