Check the outside of your van. I still think that mouse didn't just leave. You might not smell his decay but he might be there. The flies are attracted to something. You need to find it. There will always be new ones wanting to come to the feast.

cluster flies. They sense the change in season, and they cluster together in a void spaces where they can survive the winter. We live on a cattle farm, and they are miserable. We have fly swappers in every room. Keep spraying eventually you will get them out. We have to spray our house at least twice every summer, just so we can get our sanity back. Our old farm house you could hear the buzzing in the walls, and void spaces. Our new build house has spray foam insulation and it stops them, from getting in the walls. They just come in through the door as the kids run in and out of our house.

If you really want assurance EVERY critter is gone get another Hotel room or rent a cabin for a few days and A) Remove EVERYTHING out of the van, B) Wash/Wipe down all stuff from Van. Throw away any and all pillows duvets comforters and buy new. WalMart is great. Remember wash EVERYTHING. C) Take the van for a complete wash AND detail on the INSIDE D) Use RAID whole house fogger - set it inside flip the plastic tab and run! E) Detail the inside AGAIN. All flies lay some sort of egg and/or poop out stuff you don't want to deal with. Peace and joy and more Monty Python adventuring!

I always have a can of spam in my cupboard. I take the block out of the can, score it with a knife and put cloves in the scoring. Then you mix about a 1/4 cup of brown sugar and a little vinegar together and pour it over top and bake it until it is hot. While baking it, I make sure to keep spooning the brown sugar mixture over it. When hot, remove the cloves (do not eat them) and slice using the brown sugar and vinegar mixture over it. Check on the outside, underneath and on the inside walls to see if you have any holes. You can get this stuff at Home Depot called Pest Block. It is a spray foam product you can use to fill any voids. It really helps. It also helps to have a small $35 shop vac to suck up stuff like that to get it out of the van.

As far as the hitchhiker mouse, it could still be there so don’t let your guard down just yet, lol. Stay safe and happy trails😊

Good to know that the fly situation is just temporary (hopefully! 😁)
Where I live in Texas, invasive red Japanese beetles invade our homes in February and March. They look like lady bugs 🐞 without spots. They're everywhere! Dying in massive heaps on the windowsills and corners of rooms. I often thought about going to a motel, but they would be bad there too. It helps to know it's only temporary. The same thing happens in late summer/early fall with black crickets, which fill parking lots and driveways. It reminds me of biblical plagues!

Oh my what an experience! Made me think of one of mine... I think it's been about 10 years ago now, I returned back from a holiday while my parents were still away on theirs. The kitchen was full of flies. I started a war agains them but had a hard time winning. Also had no clue why these flies were there and ALSO realised there are different kinf of flies and mine in question were deathflies. So, something was dead, somewhere, in the kitchen?! After a few days, in the middle of my war, I decided to watch a movie and make some popcorn in de microwave. You will never guess what I found in there... Defrosted chicken my mum put in there before they left on holiday. She was planning on making chickensalad sandwhiches for the road but totally forgot about it. Yes. Stinky smelly disgusting chicken in the microwave for f*cking weeks. Anyways, keep on laughing about stuff like this!

Because we have cats, and over the counter flea medications no longer work where we are, we had a huge flea problem on and off for several years. We flea bombed and sprayed the whole house multiple times with only a small amount of success until someone recommended a prescription flea med called Bravecto. This has worked like a charm and despite the insanely hot summer this year, our cat (and I, fleas love me!) have remained bite free. But I felt just as disgusted as you two when they were a problem, so glad they're all gone now! I'm glad you both also got on top of your infestation!

get a sulfur candle, put in a metal pot, light it, Leave a screened window cracked a bit, and stay out of the van a few hours. When you open the van, don't enter it right away, instead have a fan blow fresh air in, so it will clear the air out of the poison fumes.

You should check behind the back door panel to see if there are any fly in there. If the last person had nectar or hummingbird feeders on the van the sweet smell will attract the fly's again.

This happened to me when I was in Canada. Driving home one night, I splashed through a big puddle, not realizing it had rained. Then I saw a poor couple with a child on the side of the road. A moose had been thrown onto their mini van windshield by a transport truck when the truck struck the moose. It almost went through their windshield. I helped them and went home. Over the next 3 days, every single fly in Ontario found its way to my driveway. WTF? Turns out that wasn't rain water I drove through, It was a huge puddle of blood from the moose. The entire bottom of my car was covered in blood. Turns out road kill blood is the perfect fly attractant.

We had an infestation of stink bugs in our truck camper. We stopped in St. Louis last October to see the arch and stayed at the casino campground across the river. The weather was beautiful but then the stink bugs came. They were all over our camper. Hundreds of them! They found every nook and cranny they could get into. We battled those little bastards for the rest of our trip. We found out that they don’t like heat very much so we used a hair dryer everywhere we could get it into to. We got back to New York about a month later killing stink bugs the entire trip.

  • @reviewer1248

I reckon you’ve got a dead mouse somewhere. They’ve laid eggs on carcass. Then they’ll hatch into flies. You can either wait for them to eat the carcass and then eventually there will be nothing left for the magggots or take your van to pieces and remove the carcass. I’ve had this problem when a pigeon fell down my chimney. There were thousands of flies but we waited until the carcass had been eaten and meanwhile taped up the room and didn’t use it. We got a cover for the chimney and have not had a problem since. I’m very wary of using insecticides because of alarming impact on long term health .
