What a great tribute! I had the massive fortune to have met Yvonne in 1995 at a big model convention in L.A. I had my own table with some meager models, and a buddy from L.A. said he had a surprise for me. He left the hotel for a short time, and came back with none other than Yvonne Craig in person! I was star struck the most by her of any of the celebrities I saw at the show! She actually sat at my table, and we talked about all sorts of things, Predators for one, and other topics. She was so funny, and friendly and I was so honored to meet her at all, much less hang out with her! After a short time, we hugged and she left and I was on cloud nine for the rest of the show. What a great lady! I will always miss her and remember that amazing day!

What a great story. I did meet James Earl Jones before he passed. He was a Mauser Gun collector and I worked at a Gun Parts store in Woodstock NY. He came in and I asked if he would give me his autograph. His secratary chimed in "Wait a minute I have photos in the car" So he signed and color 8x10 for me. I had been a big fan and evem more after how nice he was to me. It was a thrill to meet Darthh Vader.

The offers didn't come her way. I really don't know why. That said, she found steady work as a guest star on many different show for quite a few years after Batman ended.

    • @James-w1e5k

This may help to answer why. When one of the first or second Batman movies, the 1989 Tim Burton one or the next film, came out, Mary Hartman, on ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, interview several cast members from the tv series and each day a cast member was spotlighted. Yvonne Craig was asked about roles being offered. She said it began to dry up as she had done several guest roles on 1970s tv shows. She eluded to getting to the age where acting didn't mean as much as it may have one time. "I never wanted to act," she said. "I was a dancer and if dancing made a stronger push to my choice of careers, I'd have danced. But acting provided steadier work and a better paycheck than dancing at that time." She stated that while doing roles until the point she got what she was transitioning to, she quite the business to become a full time real estate agent. ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT stated that she was one of the top agents in her grouping and the number agent in her area. She never insulted the Batman tv series, her fans or the fans of the entire cast and was said to have been a great actress to meet. Note: she said she got particularly excited about questions asked about her Elvis movies and dancing. She began the live action version of Barbara Gordon as Batgirl. It is still the favorite of all the other comic book Batgirls who wore the costume in issues over the years. Barbara is still #1, and it's truely due to Yvonne Craig. Thank you, Yvonne, for the hero and role model you created.

Good afternoon, Dave. Aaahh...such memories, and such a well constructed and smile worthy video. [Great ending theme song!] Thank you for such a terrific ode to a terrific talent. Yvonne was indeed a stunner and the object of every young boy's desire. Between Batgirl and Julie Newmar's Catwoman...[ahem]. Anyway, some great photos of Yvonne, a few of which i've seen, but there were some surprises. But her presence was still not enough to rescue the show, and after the third season was still cancelled. I hope everything is going well for you and that we can look forward to more of the good stuff. Take care of yourself.

I remember watching Batman. When I see Barbara Gordon in the pre opening scene, I knew that she, as Batgirl, was joining the fray. I remember the music building in tempo. The Batgirl theme song, written by Billy May is more uptempo than Neal Hefti’s Batman theme. But, Batgirl didn’t have a solo series. Batgirl only appeared in episodes where the guest villain had more henchmen than the usual three or four. So the number was increased to about seven henchmen.
While during those fight scenes where Batman and Robin settled things with their fists, throwing wicked punches and an occasional kick, Batgirl used her movements and beautifully executed kicks in her battles.
Yvonne Craig was in an episode of the show Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. The episode was titled Turn Back The Clock(which reused clips from the film The Lost World, which actor David Hedison costarred in before he was cast in Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea).
She was also in the film In Like Flint as a ballet dancer.
She wore a bikini in an episode of The Man From U.N.C.L.E..
She was in the film Mars Needs Women. Another classic film by Larry Buchanan.
The last time I saw Yvonne was an episode of the sitcom Holmes And Yo-yo.
She was a beautiful and talented woman.
    Thank you for the tribute.😎👍

Thanks for the video on Yvonne. I understand when she played the green slave girl on Star Trek, Shatner complained that she was getting green make up on his uniform and asked that someone take her out of his lap. I don't know if it was you, or someone else who reported that her batgirl costume was first used as the costume for the Moth in an earlier Batman episode. Also, I read that she and Burt Ward would do performances at shopping malls where he would rescue her from being tied up. I did enjoy her roles, but understand that she was not allowed to punch the villains, but could kick them, and she displayed her skills as a ballerina when doing fight scenes. I was saddened when I read she had passed.

Haha! After years of curiosity and better internet availability I finally went and looked up whether the three cutouts of she, Batman and Robin (who got turned into by the Aveeno Ray Doctor Cassandra - Ida Lupino -) were ever sold as merchandise! eBay shows that you used to be able to buy different life sized Batman and Robin figures, but not from that episode!

She played Batgirl first. Her Star Trek appearance was during season 3 of that show which was a year after Batman was cancelled.

She was a very good actress.I don't know if she was ever under consideration, but there were two roles in in classic '70's sitcoms she would have been well suited for.I could have seen her as Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show or Ann Romano in One Day at a Time.

@jdsundstrom I was in no way demeaning Suzanne Pleshette, she was an excellent actress.I just meant I thought Yvonne Craig might have been very good in that role I don't know if the producers had her on a list of potential casting.Like every other production, they had a list of several actors to play each role.I never heard who might have been on that list, but I can think of several actresses that may have considered. They may have initially offered it to one who turned it down A great deal of Hollywood folklore is about who turned down roles in feature films and television shows

Burt Ward his first starring role ever was on the Batman TV show Yvonne Craig was a movie actress doing movies with Elvis Presley amongst other so she was a seasoned actress when they hired her so it shouldn’t be shocking that she was getting paid more than Burt Ward
Lindsey Wagner was getting paid more than Lee majors when they hired her for the bionic woman because she was doing movies and in a movie that won an Academy award
Check on my TV show Dynasty a lot of the famous guest were getting paid more than the regular actors on there. Who’s been on the show for a couple seasons

Agree with Yvonne being beautiful, agree with Batgirl being a ratings boost for the Bat-Man 66 Tv show, agree that not making her a relative of Jim Gordon and instead of Alfred the butler in Bat-Man and Robin was a 'er, ya what'? moment but can we put a stop on this non phonetically pronouncing of this much missed actress' surname. Here in the UK, we say Craig, which is both a first name and a last name, but it often gets said like it should be Creg, to ryme with beg, meg or peg etc. I noticed the same thing with Kara, Lara and Lee, the USA seems to have trouble when they say any of these, plus also Yvonne, phonetically would be eve-on, I noticed that is was a problem with people at Sci-fi conventions with the similar spelling name Avon. So please, don't lets copy the Wiki, calling everyone by their surname, especially when the emphasis is on the wrong letters.

Most of your tribute video was cheesecake, IMHO. Shots of Yvonne, not only as Barbara/Batgirl, but as the Orion in "Star Trek" & her appearances in movies & other shows. Lots of bikini shots & cheesecake ads. Don't blame you, however; Yvonne Craig was a beautiful woman & Batgirl was my prepubescent crush. I thought she had guested on an episode of "Peter Gunn" with Craig Stevens, but no reference on Wikipedia, either in her bibliography or the "Peter Gunn" cast or episode list.

I can safely say since I saw the original series when it aired. That Batgirl was the worst & most annoying character on Batman.
    Season three was rough.
First: it aired once a week instead of twice.
Second: Eartha Kitt replaced *the lovely* Julie Newmar as Catwoman. Earth Kitt was a good Catwomen.
Third: Us little boys knew Batman was over when Batgirl was introduced. It was a ratings gimmick that didn't work.

30 seconds/ and she made less money than a male did. as more and more women take over roles/jobs of men, the gross domestic product goes down.
Profits do not go into the GDP, nor do dividends or capital gains, which means they do not go into the economy because the GDP is the economy.
many american producers and companies use women, at a lower pay rate, so as to increase profits. but such moves are recessionary and cause recessions.
every single (GOP) president since Hoover has had a recession. their tax cut ideals never prove out.
reagan was wrong when he said, 'i took economics and if people have (a little more) $ they will spend it and buy stuff, causing more Jobs to be created to sustain the service to those customers. but rich people, like the producers of Batman, never spend their excess cash flow on products made by the american workers.
I Like Y C she was smoking and (i was not around when the show was on) IF i was into playing Batman outside with friends, i would have used the batgirl to hook up with girls.
it is a lot easier to Play with girls when there is a role for a girl to play and even Y C was tied up the odd time. so tying up the girl(that plays bat girl) would have been fun.
i did not go to the Boy scouts. too many pedophiles for my taste. so i never learned all the many knots a boy can use.
the recent bat woman show was not as good as the first batgirl. i do own all the seasons of the recent bat woman series. i like ruby rose, even though she plays for the other team.

@@jdsundstrom burt was still under age, so he could not be paid as much as an adult.
mcdonald's uses under 18 aged and seniors, so as to pay less per hour although it does help create jobs for the two subgroups
Reagan wanted to move the jobs out of the higher paid (middle was mostly white back then) unionists.
but the jobs moved to mexico, than later after china joined the WTO, to china. china had millions of bored to farm death labor units just waiting for a factory and equipment to show up. china's one child policy is no more thanks to Xi. so there r likely more females surviving the Purge process.
for decades, many chinese couples had to choose. many chose to kill their female offspring/fetuses. ON purpose to have a male, under 1 child policy.
but the facts remain. Until someone changes the formula for Gross Domestic Product, the gross wages will be the main key factor. exports never out value the imports, due to too many imported goods being of manufactured qualify. raw materials, like corn, cost less than the corn in a can.
then a certain set of people blame the lack of wages on certain people that had nothing to do with the loss of their jobs and wages.
// the Southern Plantations spent too much money on imported dresses. they should have trained their slaves to make dresses of the same quality. then there be exports worthy of the french to buy.
there were many women put aside, even post the 1960s, over their want to make more. Mary Tyler Moore figured it out, like james garner, to produce the show (they) worked on/in.
and of course U know all about what George P of the A Team did and said toward his female co star(s).
i talk about the macro of the economics, so workers of all job sites can better understand why they will never get paid out of the profits. as per GAAP's Matching Principle, no after taxed profit from a prior tax yr can account for more in tax deductible expenses. otherwise the company will pay Double in taxes.
hiring women, but paying them less than what is normally paid to another (male) Body to perform the same tasks, causing a recessionary trend.
and then more women, from minorities, get hired at a lower hourly rate. sometimes not even paid due to their status as non citizens.
that makes for less GDP. lolol u have a good week Remember the Fallen, even from outside of ww1's results.
