The network definitely gave Burt the Batgirl costume to make up for under paying him during season 3. He likely requested that it not be washed after Yvonne wore it the last time. It probably still smells like her. Getting a costume worn by such a hot woman was no small score. I definitely would have accepted it as payment for lost wages if I had been in Burt's situation. The only thing better would be owning Lynda Carter's screen used Wonder Woman costume.
So Yvonne Craig got paid more than Burt Ward did 🤔 n I know Burt wasn't a happy camper about that being that he worked with Adam West longer than Yvonne Craig did but you know that's the way the happy ball bounces sometimes 😉 😂.
I was only 9 when this came on air and even at that age, both Yvonne Craig and Julie Newmar had my attention. @3:00 is that a 'tag' hanging out of Robin's shorts?
I was never aware anyone that helped Batman was ever paid lol. I thought they did it because they believed in what he was doing. As to the show, well...acting isn't a black and white, this is the same job kinda deal. It's kinda subjective as to whether one actor was paid more than another. Certainly sexism was a factor, but it's more complicated than that. I'd think it would make sense that Burt Ward, who was on every episode, was paid more than an actor that wasn't in every episode. You could make a case that Batgirl was more popular than Robin, then I'd agree. See, it's complicated. It's just not the same as "female entry fry cook" should have the same pay as that "male entry fry cook." I might think she deserve equal pay as Burt Ward, cause the character might have been seen as more popular, but as much as Adam West? No. You get pay for perceived value. And no one was going to get the same as the star.
1:47 The lack on pay inequality has never stopped feminists from complaining about "pay inequality" and campaigning to be paid more even if they're already being paid more than some of their male colleagues.
Yep. That PSA is pure feminism. Yvonne Craig was being paid 3 times as much as Burt Ward even though Ward was in his 3rd season on the show and Craig was in her first season. Throughout the show’s run Ward was the lowest paid regular.
What’s your point? An average women were earning $0.58 for every $1.00 men earned back in 1972. Feminism was the point of that PSA. Equal pay for equal work by women. Feminism isn’t the boogie man, it’s misogyny that’s the problem.
I thought it was very interesting despite what the Commercial said Batgirl aka Yvonne was paid less than he was even though he was on the Show I believe 2 years more than Yvonne Craig. The Men's Rights Movement have for many years have been saying that it is a myth that Woman are paid less than Men. People should listen to the many Videos on this subject especially the Videos by Warren Farrell who many consider the Founder of the Men's Rights Movement. That Batgirl who just came on the show was paid more than Robin who had been with the show much longer is indicative of this.

I’m just a wannabe “boy blunder”! 🙂
What is the oldest TV show in which all of the lead actors are still alive today?
All? That would be hard to name. Even in Friends, Matthew Perry has already passed away.
Good question. I'll have to think about that one!
I like that song at the end of this video wished i knew who it was. . .
The song at the end is called "Gratitude". I created it using various AI music tools. I will upload the full version to my Retro Jukebox channel within the next few days if you are interested in hearing the full song. Here's a link to the channel: www.youtube.com/@Retro-Jukebox
@@jdsundstrom 🤗Thanks!!!! 🥰

The follow-up question is… where is that costume now?
No clue. It's possible that Burt's "friend" still has it.
@@jdsundstrom
The network definitely gave Burt the Batgirl costume to make up for under paying him during season 3. He likely requested that it not be washed after Yvonne wore it the last time. It probably still smells like her. Getting a costume worn by such a hot woman was no small score. I definitely would have accepted it as payment for lost wages if I had been in Burt's situation. The only thing better would be owning Lynda Carter's screen used Wonder Woman costume.
I woulda too!
Did Burt Ward ever admit to having the Batgirl suit?
I don't think he ever did. 🙂
So Yvonne Craig got paid more than Burt Ward did 🤔 n I know Burt wasn't a happy camper about that being that he worked with Adam West longer than Yvonne Craig did but you know that's the way the happy ball bounces sometimes 😉 😂.
He passed Bill Shatner in the hall carrying a handful of wigs.
Yes I saw that PSA
I bet yvonne and Burt could have made a "deal" I know I would have!
I wanted it whenever she was that green girl in Star Trek
I don't think we realized just how hot Yvonne Craig really was.
She was a beauty, that's for sure!
I was only 9 when this came on air and even at that age, both Yvonne Craig and Julie Newmar had my attention.
@3:00 is that a 'tag' hanging out of Robin's shorts?
It was great to meet Bret Ward at a Walmart parking lot
In Baldwin Park.
Cool!
I believe that Yvonne was paid almost as much as Adam for that 3rd season. Thanks for sharing!
1:47 The lack on pay inequality has never stopped feminists from complaining about "pay inequality" and campaigning to be paid more even if they're already being paid more than some of their male colleagues.
if they ever find that suit again better not put it under blue light
Yikes!
I can believe Burt Ward grabbed it for nostalgia/monetary reasons 🎭
I always found it interesting that Batman and Batgirl didn't know each other's real identities.😆
she stole his idea
Alfred knew who she was!
Equal pay for equal RESULTS.
When the show ended, she should have kept one of the costumes. Sounds bad, but I'm sure that's how most things like that are acquired.
Would it have been that hard to just make another one?
A reasonable question…but apparently Yvonne was adamant that she wear one of her old ones from the show.
they made it ONCE - they can make it AGAIN !!... another reason why i hate these spoiled rotten celebrities
I think Yvonne Craig would fave been good in the role of Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show.
I think Yvonne is wonderful...but, then again, I like Suzanne Pleshette a lot as well. 🙂
@@jdsundstrom I also like Suzanne Pleshette. There are other roles I think Yvonne Craig would have well had the actresses who played them not taken
Cool!!!!!!
I have the book written by Burt called Boy Wonder my life wearing tights you need to check it out
It's a hard book to find!
@@jdsundstrom you might find it online if I find the website for you that they are selling this book I sure let you know
I don't blame Burt one bit.
With him making $450 per episode while Yvonne was bringing home $1500? Me neither!
I jus now burt slipped into it once he got it home! 💜
The show would have been even more popular if Yvonne had worn a *missing" costume?😜
Since when does Robin get paid for being Robin? He gets paid in room and bored.
Maybe he had a crush on her
I think so too
