Great review as usual, this is the first one I've seen that mentions the lube leaking out and changing the sound over time. Definitely very important point as the hype seems to be around how good it sounds and that seems temporary
Yeah, I have had mine almost a month and it sounds nothing like it did when I got it. Can we send it back for a different one or will this happen with all of them? Is that normal?
Just want to say thank you for actually giving proper criticisms of the keyboard. I have been looking at many reviews and all of them just praise the keyboard and don't point out ANY issues. As a potential buyer I know for a fact that there are going to be issues, however most reviewers either glance over or even worse, not even mention these issues at all. Will definitely be reconsidering purchasing this keyboard as $250 USD is a lot for a keyboard and at that price point I expect it to be close to perfect with little to no hardware issues (i.e. switches dying etc).
I just want to say based off personal experience the akko mod007b HE with kailh sakura pink switches sound WAY better than the cream yellows. Not sure how Akko dropped the ball with their own switches but definitely give the kailh switches a try if you ever get the chance
heard what you said about this video's performance from the Akko HE video and thought I should let you know this review was greatly appreciated as someone who had a toss up between the boog and the wooting for my first rapid trigger board , as I decided to go with the boog for various reasons you listed
I bought it for law school, i have to type 15-30 page docs every week. This saves my fingers. I was using an alienware m16r2 laptop and actually bruised my fingers and had to pay a typist to type my work for 2 weeks due to injury. Previously, I was a federal agent and worked outside a lot in my garden for relaxation. I have never had an issue prior. I did not think it was possible. I bought this hoping to lower the force on my fingers.
Thanks for telling us about the noise getting worse over time. It kind of sucks honestly as its one of the main reasons to get this so whats the point. Hopefully in the future it will be compatible with a switch that doensn't have this issue.
Were you able to do any measurements of power requirements with those little USB tools? I wonder if it's just the power requirements. These RGB+sensor combination IC the KS37 uses are connected to each other in series, so I think it's more likely that one or more break and break the chain. We've heard these IC are quite fragile compared to separate sensor.
i wish there was wireless version. Is there anything with lower front height, steeper typing angle, also he, and wireless (layout: non expoled 65 or 70 with macros / 75 / "75" like odin75 / 80)? Or maybe i could get some he internals and the case separately?
I really appreciate your review! It's the first time I've heard some constructive criticisms of the Boog75. I'm really curious, about the key failures you mention.... I cannot find any information on the state of KS37B, frequency of it dying, or any kind of replacement part. Assuming that a replacement DOES arrive at some point (KS37C or something else), do you think it's likely to be user-replacable? Do you still feel the same way about waiting? Does something maybe exist already?
I would also like to know this. If its something thats fixable in the future it would make the purchase a lot better. If theres anything that we could replace or fix in the future to prevent bricking that would really help. Also is there something we could do like turning off the rgb?
@@MMmagze I've done a little more reading, and re-watched this video a few times now, and i think what @jakeufps is describing is a burnout of the board itself due to the amount of power going to the keys. So, i guess that once the burnout he describes happens, it will take out the whole board. I can't find ANY info on a new model KS37C that he mentions, nor do I know if the newly announced Boog75 compatible keys (gateron jade mini e) have the same issue as the KS37B
I steel prefer 60%/65% like size....i also tried wooting 60he despite doesn't have an aluminum case included and is very great ... the software and also the customization are good......i bought tofu60 like aluminum case....if you is it compatible with steelseries apex pro mini? boog75 has a good sound but i I heard they offer zero customer support and i don't like the rgb with those keycaps
It's hard to review rapid triggers as you have to experience it to know the difference lol but good review as always Jake, btw when is the Incott GHero review coming? Still torn between that or the VXE R1 Pro Max as I already have a Lamzu Atlantis so I'm skeptical of having another claw grip mouse. The ones included in my rotation right now is the Xlite V2 Mini, Mchose A5 Pro Max and the Lamzu Atlantis OG.
You usually don't use a lot of lube for switches anyway, so the amount of lube that leaves the switch is just the excess. What you hear *should* be how the switch sounds with a proper amount of lube and it would still sound weak AF anyway because of the holes. Using the switches over time will wear the plastic down to a smoother state so it's all good. Also, if you do switch back to mechanical implementation, I would recommend trying to keep the SOLID NON-FLEX CUT plate that came with the HE pcb. Better sound without ever needing foam. Flex cuts are terrible for sound and getting any flex on an aluminum plate sounds like a meme.
A great keyboard plagued with firmware problems... so, for those who have no idea how to install the firmware, there's no instructions on their discord, but they give you a link where you must enable Java to gain access to said instructions. Make it make sense, please. There are a ton of red flags going off with this brand.
Seems like the firmware upgrade page is down, so for the time being, you'll have to join their discord server and find it there 💀
Hello if had this keyboard for a while can you make a vid on how to re lube the wasd keys

@@frostydax yeah that’s gonna happen with them all as the lube leaks out. Not something they’d warranty unfortunately

hmm makes me question if i should lube my incoming 80HE switches.. dont really feel i want lube getting outside the switch..

Know you're not going to answer, but want to know what MCU(s) does this keyboard use.
Great review Jake!! I've always had the BOOG75 in my sight but money is tight. One day though, it'll be on my desk

AFAIK there have been people that have bricked this keyboard already
This or the akko mod007v3 HE year of the dragon?
do u think xraypad obsidian and ultraglide control dot is the same? also with tiger ice and ultraglide ice
hi, and if you do not turn on the RGB backlight on the atk 68, this may help to avoid the problem?
So funny… my boog75 asd keys sound different and it’s brand new… were they gaming with it before shipping?

front height is an underrated complaint, some keyboards for me are unusable because of the front height
