Thanks for braving the elements to keep us all entertained. I can now see why the N41 comes equipped with a standard diesel heater, heat pumps just can't keep up in conditions that you experienced.
I think this trip up north sealed the deal for staying in the Pacific Northwest for another season. Also, this posting had a 'Captain's wisdom' segment that in previous postings qualified as a Q&A. As rough as this season was on you and Freedom, you'll have some great memories that will grow fonder as time passes by.
Don’t worry about a little snow and ice on the boat, we deal with that all the time in Sweden it wont damage the boat as long as you don't let the engine and the water system frees solid. Snow is actually a good insulator… 😊
It was 80 here over Christmas, Crystal River, Fl. I really wish we had your plentitude of inlets and islands to visit. Over here on the west coast of Florida there is a scarcity of places to visit on weekend trips. Christmas day I was out in the garden, pulling weeds and planting seeds. Thanks for the videos, have a great 2022.
I enjoy watching "couples" videos on TH-cam and yours are the best! I've never seen this question asked: do you share video editing chores? If not, who does the deed? The graphics are supreme and the cut with three frames dropping in to make the cut I've never seen done before...fresh and lively is how I'd describe your shooting and editing, stories well told, please keep it up. A loyal viewer/boater in Friday Harbor.
Another good video. Liz your editing skills are amazing. Glad to see you all have fun no matter what the weather is. Maybe the 5 second dip in the pool can count as your polar plunge for the year. Really like Shawn's boat explanations too. Yall keep having fun and stay safe.
Back about 1990, we had a couple of days in Seattle where the high was about 10F. Lake Washington started to freeze over and Portage Bay, where I was living on a houseboat, froze over. The sea water strainer on my boat's engine was filled with fresh water and froze and cracked. I might have been alright, had I been in salt water, like you are at Semiahmoo, as it would be unlikely to freeze.
Two Dad Jokes: 1) Why was the scarecrow awarded a Noble Peace Prize? He was outstanding in his field. 2) Did you hear that Snow White is down to 6 dwarfs? Yes, Sneezy had to be quarantined.
Nords are supposed to be able to handle transoceanic trips and harsh weather. It's good to see how it does in cold and snow. Now it's time for the Arctic.
I love the way your videos tell a good story. Boating is harder in the snow and ice. The scene about uncurling your dock lines says it all. I'll bet the eagle and Shawn were thinking the same thing (about Dino, perhaps?).
Another couple of days for you both. Even with the snow i know you had a nice time. The resorts looks just fine. Hot Tub works wonders on a sore body. Safe travels always.
Hi guys! We just had a week of -18 to -25 here in Kitimat. We had to put a little heater in our Lazerette too! And had frozen ropes lol. We have more cold snaps to come I’m sure! We had to drain all our hoses too and not use them all winter. We still go out and adventure 😌. Your snow looks fluffy! Look at our winter video of Derek snow blowing the dock haha!
The Indian Rope trick. Amazing. I wonder if you could get thermal blankets for the outside of the windows, similar to those on RVs. Probably stop the condensation.
The last few days I have been watching yachting videos, today I discovered you guys. The yachting lifestyle seems so intriguing to me but I’m too old and too poor to even think about it in this lifetime. So I will eagerly tag along with you on your adventures, thanks for sharing. 😁
You two are so neat, lovely couple. Love this video, made me laugh several times. The “balls” underwear was inappropriate, he has none now…..he froze them off in the cold. I am tired of the cold here in the NW too but come spring and summer, you can’t beat it. I remember when you went to Florida and wanted to move there. It is a trade-off because you would be more miserable therefor a long time in the summer with high humidity and oppressing heat stuck with the air conditioning on day and night. I like your positive attitudes. You make the best videos. Thanks for sharing.
Great to have you posting again. Not sure why you do not have more viewers. I have been following the Wynns for years and enjoy your posts as much. Enjoy when you show some of the challenges of traveling and living on your boat/house. Also enjoy maintenance and upgrade things you do. Please keep posting. and, take care.
There's a few things that are under spec, like the windows obviously being single pane. But the boats perfectly fine. A little water on the boat isn't any real issue.
Almost wish these videos were lifetime. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the TH-cam channel rebuilding the classic schooner tally ho but that’s where Leo is doing it to work in Port Townsend. Definitely something to visit while you’re there and also may be a little mash up of TH-cam channels. His channel is called Sampson boat building company
As a new owner of a Jefferson 53 at Roche, I was told there is no permanent moorage availability at Semiahmoo. I was also up in the area and made a video “So you want to go “Winter Cruising “ Love your videos!
You would think ,what you paid for a Nordhavn,it would be set for all kinds of weather, double glazed windows, insulated hulls, that would be the main reasons I would buy a one for, along with the fuel efficiency.
That eagle at 5:17 that was up on the mast was watching and waiting for the chance of a scooby snack. Eagles that have snached up a pet for lunch in the past will hang around newcomers waiting for their potty break.
Question, Why did you start the generator before you started the main. I understand if you were not on shore power. Curious, I just bought a motor sailer in Tampa and returned to Virginia. I have solar and a generator. I did different things depending on my situation. Just curious about your process. Thanks.
Normally we don’t need to run the generator underway, we have a large main engine alternator and inverter to carry normal loads; however in this cold weather we started the generator so we could switch our large heating loads over to the generator service before disconnecting from shore power.
Well I guess that will be a Christmas you will be talking about for a while. I hope Freedom didn’t get damaged from freezing temps. It looks like Sean is going to have fun replacing headliners. I would have been tempted to just keep going south after that weather and not stopping u til I hit 80 degree weather! Safe and warmer travels!!
Wow, I thought it was cold here in the desert which for here it was. My Sister said it got very cold and snowy up there when they were there for Christmas. Brrr. I am glad it wasn't me. The water always makes it feel colder so thank you for sharing your bravery. The pups seemed good with though. Thank you and be safe.
Aww, come on...... that's a fine boat, easy to live aboard. Even when temps dip down, like they sometimes do up here near the border, your boat's a comfy hideaway from the temps....
Battery Powered leave blower for the powder snow has to be a good powerful type like a DeWalt flex volt. Works a treat, and so much quicker and easier than brushing off. Although the Norwegians in Tromso harbour didn't think it was a good idea when I was there.
MV Freedom and coffee in the morning… the best way to start your day!! Love you guys!
I’m glad you are back to producing videos!
Thanks for braving the elements to keep us all entertained. I can now see why the N41 comes equipped with a standard diesel heater, heat pumps just can't keep up in conditions that you experienced.
Thanks!
Worrying about a few cm's of snow on a Nordhavn is like putting an insulated coat on a fury dog in winter.

Hope they continue to live in PNW and take a tour of southern Alaska this summer.

Those frozen ropes were the best! We’ll done guys on surviving the big freeze!
So cold! Golden Gardens was like the Arctic Tundra! Thanks for a great video, so fun to watch on a Sunday night!

Glad you are back online. Thanks. Are the Q&A sessions going to return soon?

I'm so happy you are posting more videos. Enjoy watching you guys. Haven't watch this one yet. Watching later today !
I see you are going to be featured soon in Motor Boat and Yatching. I am looking forward to reading it.

2) Did you hear that Snow White is down to 6 dwarfs? Yes, Sneezy had to be quarantined.
Loved the adventure and the scenery along the way! You made the bad weather seem fun to be in.
snow, a hot tub not bad.. my best Christmas was on a tropical island.. sun, sea, bbq and booz.
LMAO! The look on Sean's face last Christmas when you decorated the boat while he was out!!!!!!
Nords are supposed to be able to handle transoceanic trips and harsh weather. It's good to see how it does in cold and snow. Now it's time for the Arctic.
Love the new picture in the pilothouse. Super cool! Glad you're back to posting videos too! :)
Good morning. Glad you are back. Missed you
Thanks for sharing your adventures. You both do a great job. 👍
I love the way your videos tell a good story. Boating is harder in the snow and ice. The scene about uncurling your dock lines says it all. I'll bet the eagle and Shawn were thinking the same thing (about Dino, perhaps?).
Idea for snow removal --- A Milwaukee 18volt blower....Small, easy to store, 4AHr battery should be enough to blow all the snow off your boat...
Dad Joke:
Why do ducks wear feathers?
To cover up butt quacks! 🤣
Nothing wrong with winter cruising, as long as it is in the Caribbean :-)
That boat needs to move to Arizona with year-round warm temps.
Uggghhh! We’re weekend boaters on the east coast & never experienced snow on docks & the boat - that’s wild!
I enjoyed this! It’ll be fun to look back on when the weather warms up and it sounds like the boat weathered it just fine, even if it was cold inside.
Another couple of days for you both. Even with the snow i know you had a nice time. The resorts looks just fine. Hot Tub works wonders on a sore body. Safe travels always.

Love Beautiful British Columbia. Did two winters on board in Bella Bella. Won't do it again. Baja winter. BC summer.
Have you heard the “Dad joke” about the sidewalk? It’s all over town. Har! Har!
"Why do fathers take an extra pair of socks when they go golfing?" "In case they get a hole in one!"
Love your videos! Please keep them coming! would love to see more of the docking and undocking of that gorgeous Nordhavn!!

So cold ! We had a 43 Celsius day in Perth, Australia on Christmas Day. It was too hot !!
Yeh, we had 36 in Melbourne
Nice job on the video. I like the way you use the drone footage to enhance the story!
Bravo Zulu from CFV-"Mayhem" get to the Caribbean LOL
I have been told that a few inches of snow will act as an insulator from the Arctic air
That's true.
Dad joke: What did the fish say when it swam into a wall? "Dam".

A question: When it's 15F outside, what temperature does the boat maintain inside? Is that with a diesel heater?
I m surprise to hear that a Nordhavn is not suited for this kind of weather.
they are... these two are just being a little over cautious.
They definitely are, they are built like tanks. This a case of the boat's capabilities exceeding those of the crew.
There's a few things that are under spec, like the windows obviously being single pane. But the boats perfectly fine. A little water on the boat isn't any real issue.
@@brook316 Exactly, nothing critical that simple fixes like some sheet foam and a rag won't take care of.

Dad joke, What kind of donuts do pilots eat?
Plane.
Susan & Tony here, Sean has got to be freaking out. Your poor boat.
Great video…here in Montreal boating is impossible -35 deg…😎
Dad joke , a horse walks into the bar and trots up to the counter. The bartender says “ so why the long face?”
marriage savers, Love the comment, how right you are . Elisabeth, Love your brown eyes.
Love it! You guys go with the flow and are on top of all the eventualities.
Good memories. We boated out of Pt Roberts for 7 years so we know that area well. Stay warm!
As a new owner of a Jefferson 53 at Roche, I was told there is no permanent moorage availability at Semiahmoo. I was also up in the area and made a video “So you want to go “Winter Cruising “
Love your videos!
Hello, glad you’re back o YT. Question. What are some of you favorite nautical navigation Apps, from free to best worth it’s money?
Great Video!!!
What type of headphones (ie marriage savers !) do you have. Looking for a set
Awesome video!
It was 80 degrees with palm trees here on Christmas! 🌴Didn't mind it a bit.
Crazy you survived on a million dollar+ boat. You guys are nuts.
You would think ,what you paid for a Nordhavn,it would be set for all kinds of weather, double glazed windows, insulated hulls, that would be the main reasons I would buy a one for, along with the fuel efficiency.
Nice transition from the cold to hot tub--it stunned me.
epic! I am so envious of your adventures. Amazing life you have. Regards Mike. South Africa, South Coast, Transkei
Perfect 10 on the cannonball captain! 👍👍🤣🤣😂😂👌👌
That eagle at 5:17 that was up on the mast was watching and waiting for the chance of a scooby snack. Eagles that have snached up a pet for lunch in the past will hang around newcomers waiting for their potty break.
*Scooby
Its 50 here in Oly. 5 months of spring ahead
Great Jazz Music! It sure lends to the Atmosphere! Shawn is a great Captain!
Love it!......"Pushing the envelope"......
Gawd your dogs are troopers!

@@shawnkrenke3949I figured that was the reason.
I just learned a tip to apply shaving cream with a microfiber towel to windows to prevent moisture, cant wait to test it.
Here’s a dad joke for you,, what do you call a bulletproof Irishman????
Rick O’Shay. 😜🙄
Cool video - thanks for sharing

Nothing more majestic than the Bald eagle. To save on power a light bulb will emit enough heat in small places.
Love the music from the 30s timeframe.
Maybe install one of those diesel heaters all the van-lifers use. Then you'd have some real roasting capacity.
We were in Whistler-Blackcomb for Christmas, and it was cold!!!!
i loved your Dino .. hate your jukes :) keeep going on guys 👍 still watching you from Kuwait :)
I have been boating for 50 plus years. Never had I seen a frozen mooring line YOWSA.. be safe
Watching your videos is always a treat! Keep up the great work!
I so enjoy your travels, Thanks Elizabeth and Shawn, safe Voyage🛥, Bobby
Mr.Sully & Miss Martha ( Being the new crew member) Plenty of fun on Freedom!
In Victoria Bc yup that was a cold snap… Loved the music ya had playing
Any updates on the condition of MV Freedom after this trip? Thanks!
I think you should make him walk the plank for that last joke. 😁
Try an leaf blower for the snow next time....way easier and much more fun😀
get an leaf blower to remove dry snow
butane torch work for the shore lines?
$20 is a no-brainer for the Fitness center and pool
You had me at "the shower scene " 🤣 Thanks for taking us along with you.
The lines were a trip. Nice adventure.

What is green and not heavy... Light green
Very interesting. You visit some lovely places and your filming/editing is exceptional. I won’t be sad to see the last of Dino though! 😎😎

2 Table spoons Dawn liquid soap and 1 cup water in a squirt bottle spray windows before snow just spray and leave on ...
