@@tink6225 ...Vi calls Caitlyn 'cupcake'. Jinx said she "made her [Caitlyn] a snack" leading Vi to think she was about to be served Caitlyn's head on a platter, but it was an actual cupcake instead of HER cupcake.
As someone who literally just stumbled onto clips from this show, never played League of Legends or ever even watched gameplay, I dig that Jinx's psychoticness isn't just a quirky thing (even though it's used sometimes for humor) and is actually a character trait. Harley Quinn, the closest match I can think of, is sometimes portrayed as too goofy and just "Hahah quirky", but at least with Jinx there are moments when she seems genuinely unhinged and not in a humorous way. It's kinda cool and definitely a refreshing thing to see on a character. I can definitely see why it's sorta believable that Jinx could fucking decapitate someone and serve it as a "joke" to her sister.
I honestly appreciated how her mental health really isn't glamourised at all. It constantly leads her into making terrible choices that make things worse for herself, which perpetuates the cycle of abuse and self-harm into further terrible choices. The 'quirky-crazy' archetype often presents mental health problems as giving a character some special gift or insight that their neurotypical peers lack, but 'Arcane' very much presents Jinx as an extraordinary person whose tragedy is that she is *held back* by her mental health struggles.
I don't think it's necessary or appropriate to make that kind of diagnosis. Jinx in the game isn't depicted as having any magical abilities outside of her extreme adrenaline rush from killing champions; which could perhaps be linked to her shimmer-treatment from Singed, but nothing else. Her abilities are all weapons and gadgets of her own design. That intelligence is what makes her character interesting. Jayce and Victor both comment on the ingenuity of her engineering and Silco's comment that Powder was the better of Vander's progeny than Vi at least partly comes down to her extraordinary mental abilities that cause far more damage than Vi's punching ever could. She is highly intelligent, and in a more equal society would have received the same opportunities as Victor and Jayce that would have allowed her to develop technology that helps people, but instead she grows up in squalor, oppressed, and traumatised by a web of political and abusive cruelties that forever hold her back from being the person she could have become. Her story is so powerful because the mental health problems that hold her back all stem from the very real, political and personal problems that she faced growing up, not because she secretly has some cool magical ability that makes her special. As for the council, Heimerdinger's aversion to magic is fairly well encapsulated by Jayce's outburst over his long lifespan - Heimer is a member of a privileged economic elite and doesn't really care about the poverty and exploitation his city is built on until it is finally rubbed in his face. Until that point he is eager to shore up his position as an economic elite and is terrified of any technology or magic that might be used by the underclasses to take power from him and his peers, hence his desire to stop hextech even if it means more people living in poverty for longer. That's the ulterior motive - a cynical desire for stagnation that keeps him and the rest of his class safe from the anger of the poor who would eat them alive in a heartbeat if they could.

@@tusharsrivastava370 vi didn't go through what jinx did, because she went through a completely different trauma all together. She had to grow up way WAY before her age, was thrown the responsibility of taking care of not only her sister but also the whole group, she was like what 7 years old when her parents died which is even worse since that means that she remembers her parents death way clearer than jinx does. She had to go through the death of almost all of her family who was killed _by her own sister_ and yet she managed to not harm her more than she had all while being a 15 year old teenager. Just because her trauma isnt shown on screen doesnt mean that it doesnt exist. You can't compare someone's trauma and say that one has suffered more than the other since everybody processes trauma differently. But that's not what i was talking about in the first place. I was just saying vi is also many people's favorite (ehem,me) and that let's not forget about that here.
@@granolabar8432 you may have your own opinions, but everyone knows that no one has suffered more than Jinx, who got abandoned by her own sister (even though it wasn’t Vi’s fault but the situation made it like that) , had to live her whole life with the guilt of killing her adoptive brothers with their voices in her head telling her to do things… that trauma she has suffered far exceeds anyone in the show.. imagine trying to do something and multiple voices in your head are debating among themselves on what you should think / do and not even your own sister trying to accept you for what you’ve become… cuz Vi never tried to understand her sister… she had a responsibility but failed to do so, whereas Silco understood her and accepted her for what she was
I mean, Jinx clearly now has some kind of superhuman strength, we saw her carrying around BOTH of vi's gauntlets nonchalantly despite one of them having the antigravity system busted. So clearly she hit her pretty damn hard 💀
Here's how I can sum up Jinx: I wanna give her a hug so bad, but at the same time, the thought of being in the same room as her genuinely terrifies me. Never thought any writer could pull that off.
I love how the three of them represented different forms of trauma: Vi was recently out of prison. She was still stuck in the same mindset, trying to protect a sister who no longer existed. Jinx was constantly dealing with her shattered mindset, something which influences her every move in the present. She can only focus on what she is doing any given moment. Caitlyn represents what is to come. Her naivety and protected mindset is going to be broken throughout Act II. If you have a working knowledge of League of Legends or not, you just know deep down her story will not end well.
I’m just imagining Jinx baking a cupcake. Like you have an elaborate plan to kidnap three people, tie them up in chairs and decorate a ginormous table to question them about how you will act for the rest of your life. AND then you either steal a cupcake from a bakery and take it to your little banquet or you take like two hours to make one just so that you can say to your sister that you made her “girlfriend a snack”. I know Jinx’s crazy but I didn’t think she was that insane.
I don't play League of Legends so I was cheering for her to come around and make up with her sister. It broke my heart when I realized, at least so far, there is no getting them back on the same side. This show is so fucking good and I hope to Christ the next season will be just as good.
I never played LoL but when I realized that Powder became Jinx and that it showed them fighting in the intro I knew that they were probably going to go at it at some point but it made me really happy when they reconnected after all those in years now that they're all grown up. They clearly love each other so much, but after the events of the season finale I know they're definitely gonna fight.
You see it play over silco's face when Jayce gives him the ultimatum to hand over jinx. Really excellent animation there. Everyone brought their A game on this show.
Jinx is such a fascinating character. The way they show the development of her mental health issues and everything that leads up to her mania is really really interesting. The creators of arcanr took what was originally a relatively one dimensional character whos only point was to be a crazy fun villain and turned her into a deeply complex character.
i like that she is portrayed as actually insane, she is a person who suffers from insanity, not someone who is insane (eg, harley quinn, who’s really just… quirky)
Jinx and Silco were my favorite characters. I love how complex they are. Obviously Silco does bad stuff and he’s a bad dude but he’s not…a BAD dude. He’s a villain you have trouble completely hating because he has genuine connections with people and acts human. I love how well written he is. And Jinx- If Jinx isn’t a metaphor for “we wouldn’t have terrorists if we didn’t give them a reason to hate us” then idk what is. She’s been hurt, betrayed and abandoned. Jinx is…human, and we don’t really see that side of antagonists or villains.
One of the most relatable scenes was when jinx was listening to the music and silco was trying to get her attention. All parents have been there when the kids are distracted.
To be honest, she reminds me more of a child or teenager who loves to make faces. Once again I watch her "crazy" and understand that this does not impress me and does not even scare me (and I love it when crazy characters can show themselves so completely crazy that it gives goosebumps and inspires fear, as an observer of their actions ). It's strange that the uninhibited, impulsive behavior of a "child" is still considered insane.
I think it's crazy because she's a murderous child she has a mind of a murderous child the idea of children being scary and creepy scares a lot of people and understandably cuz traditionally children are supposed to be you know innocent. But the thing with jinx is that she has so much trauma that is like she has mind of a child but when you take a consideration that she has all these mental issues that goes unchecked it becomes very dangerous. But yeah she's like a child but that doesn't change the fact that she will have no problem killing you and killing other people. She literally has the mind of a murderous child and it's quite scary for me but even if she's not scary that's not the point the point is she's supposed to be insane and she does it well
Im pretty sure that is meant to be a part of her mania. She is "stuck in her past" for a lack of a better way ofputting it. This is also shown in the hallucinations she has of claggor and milo. She is kind of trapped in that mindset of when she was a kid because she was never given the help she needed to process her severe trauma. Im pretty sure thats why she often acts "like a child" with her drawings and the whole tea party thing. or at least thats what i read anyway.
I like how her shimmer transfusion making her tears and eye's glow purple. But also apprantly giving her a speed boost in critical moment. I think it's because of all shimmer inside her now whenever her heart rate increases enough it enables speed boost.
The one thing I noticed is that literally everyone is afraid of Jinx, even Silco, EXEPT Vi, (and maybe Sevika..) even in the tea party scene, Vi rlly doesn't seem scared of her, minus the platter thing
To see all the scenes together where Jinx is kinda unhinged, makes it extra sad when she shows her more vulnerable side. If someone would only know her crazy side, they wouldnt believe there's more to her
I dont know, her emotions and feelings felt quite normal to me. She is not crazy... she is broken, and yet she smiles... or scowls. Depends on the mood I guess.

@@granolabar8432 you may have your own opinions, but everyone knows that no one has suffered more than Jinx, who got abandoned by her own sister (even though it wasn’t Vi’s fault but the situation made it like that) , had to live her whole life with the guilt of killing her adoptive brothers with their voices in her head telling her to do things… that trauma she has suffered far exceeds anyone in the show.. imagine trying to do something and multiple voices in your head are debating among themselves on what you should think / do and not even your own sister trying to accept you for what you’ve become… cuz Vi never tried to understand her sister… she had a responsibility but failed to do so, whereas Silco understood her and accepted her for what she was
3:01 how hard did she hit her tho 💀
I mean, Jinx clearly now has some kind of superhuman strength, we saw her carrying around BOTH of vi's gauntlets nonchalantly despite one of them having the antigravity system busted. So clearly she hit her pretty damn hard 💀
@@Dave-cw2mj I didn't even think about that, it makes sense that the magic
would make it lighter.
That's payback for the slap in ep 3
Damn Powder holds grudges a long time then
Also just imagine her towing her sister's trough the streets of the undercity and the other people just looking at her like: wtf bro
The funniest thing is that Jinx calls the bartender Chuck
That is a rly common name in those comedy series or cartoons
One of my favourite aspects of Jinx's design is that her tatoos are mimicking the smoke from bombs rather than clouds
It isn't smoke from bombs, it's blue smoke from the flare her sister gave her. Blue smoke would lead her back to Vi.
Love, when she says:
"Sheeh, I'm not thaat crazy"
Anybody else love her voice? It can go so flawlessly from calm to enraged to then sad. Casting director deserves a raise.
The bonk at 3:02 was perfectly cut
Here's how I can sum up Jinx: I wanna give her a hug so bad, but at the same time, the thought of being in the same room as her genuinely terrifies me. Never thought any writer could pull that off.
3:24 I love the last part when she shoot the racket
Jinx being crazy for 3 minutes, she's crazy though the whole series
3:00 perfect cut... it made me laugh so hard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:13 yeah that is like the first time a show has gotten me to actually shed a tear besides maybe some of the monologues in Daredevil
Don't care if she's a maniac and all this shit thats happening is her fault, she's my favorite and you cannot change my mind
She made harley quinn look healthy.
I love how the three of them represented different forms of trauma:
Vi was recently out of prison.
Jinx just vibing there, and then "JINX!!!" And jinx's reaction: "Watdoyouneedimbusyy"
From the animation to the writing, this show was just one of the best things I've ever seen
I literally have just recently stumbled upon clips of Arcane and OH MY GOD every single frame of this show looks like a goddamn painting
Jinx is so amazing, i love her so much.
I dropped to tears when she fired that missile at the end.. Such a perfect end that I missed in GOT. Go get'em girl!
Sisters, right? You can't live with them, can't stuff 'em back in the old baby maker.
Eh hehe.
Phew. Phew. Phew.

Jinx:uh hi🥺
5 seconds later
Jinx:-machine gun in hand-
the sheesh im not that crazy line made me go insane
Saddest part of the show is still silcos death, the was he said you're perfect to jinx because he truly loves her, godamn
You see it play over silco's face when Jayce gives him the ultimatum to hand over jinx. Really excellent animation there. Everyone brought their A game on this show.
My favorite is her childlike joy when Silco yells at her for commiting genocide on law enforcement
She's genuinely so cool
0:25 why is this relatable
Jinx is crazy in every scene lmao i love her voice and just everything about her!
I swear, I literally cried watching episode 9! :,)
omg same though!😭
Same
jinx with the weird glasses and singing while she makes that thing is so cool
Jinx is such a fascinating character. The way they show the development of her mental health issues and everything that leads up to her mania is really really interesting. The creators of arcanr took what was originally a relatively one dimensional character whos only point was to be a crazy fun villain and turned her into a deeply complex character.
i like that she is portrayed as actually insane, she is a person who suffers from insanity,
not someone who is insane (eg, harley quinn, who’s really just… quirky)
Jinx and Silco were my favorite characters. I love how complex they are. Obviously Silco does bad stuff and he’s a bad dude but he’s not…a BAD dude.
He’s a villain you have trouble completely hating because he has genuine connections with people and acts human. I love how well written he is. And Jinx-
If Jinx isn’t a metaphor for “we wouldn’t have terrorists if we didn’t give them a reason to hate us” then idk what is. She’s been hurt, betrayed and abandoned. Jinx is…human, and we don’t really see that side of antagonists or villains.
One of the most relatable scenes was when jinx was listening to the music and silco was trying to get her attention. All parents have been there when the kids are distracted.
“Don’t cry, your perfect”
How can someone be so adorable and terrifying at the same time?
her smile gives me butterflies.
This compilation is what finalized me watching Arcane so like… thanks for the obsession lol
Jinx is that one child you knew in elementary school that had destructive tendencies and probably liked fire.
1:49 just because of this scene they should create a new character named Chuck
Jinx is that friend that is just badass and u want to stick around her the most
I love how whenever she causes chaos on she always leaves that monkey logo and how creative her attacks and bombs-
"to the realm of heebie-jeebies" will forever be iconic
3:02 *bonk*
Slæp
"I'm not that crazy."
*Proceeds to kill the entire city council. (because why not?)*
They deserve it
*That's...actually rather tame.*
I have never had such a connection with a character this much
Jinx hearing Silco's voice at the end then crying just.......... DAMN ONION NINJAS!!!!!
I love Jinx, she's such an interesting character.
It’s always the crazy ones I fall for🤦♀️
The scene where jinx is jamming out is literally my Mom when I don't respond when I have my airpods in blasting music😭
Just love how jinx dont hurt other people except.. officers.. and whoever lie to her.
she carried the entire show and the entire fallout show
I like how her shimmer transfusion making her tears and eye's glow purple. But also apprantly giving her a speed boost in critical moment. I think it's because of all shimmer inside her now whenever her heart rate increases enough it enables speed boost.
“I’m not that crazy…”
Few min laters…
She went passionate killing the council 🤣
The one thing I noticed is that literally everyone is afraid of Jinx, even Silco, EXEPT Vi, (and maybe Sevika..) even in the tea party scene, Vi rlly doesn't seem scared of her, minus the platter thing
To see all the scenes together where Jinx is kinda unhinged, makes it extra sad when she shows her more vulnerable side. If someone would only know her crazy side, they wouldnt believe there's more to her
Jinx just being awesome.
Who else loves jinx?
Meee !
and yet literally half of the arcane and league fandom including me adores her. how does this work.
Silco:ENFOURCERS... DEAD!
Jinx:😀
There is something with Jinx that makes you love her so much.
I dont know, her emotions and feelings felt quite normal to me. She is not crazy... she is broken, and yet she smiles... or scowls. Depends on the mood I guess.
Jinx being herself for over 3 minutes straight. I always fall for the "mad" ones :D
