This is perfect for me. I'm getting back into reading in a more serious way and October has always been spooky month for me. So Z'October really gets me in the mood and your recommendations are amazing. I know this content takes a lot of time and effort to make, but believe me when I say that it is very much appreciated. Thank you for Z'October and keep up the good work.

@Mathieu Fortier Same here, I started reading more serious in 2018. I even count my pages, so I make sure I read more each year. I am unfortunately I am a slow reader, so I am behind this year so I am trying to rush this month. Which means more scary stories lol! I love spooky stories too!

I loved Christine. I think what pulled me into the story is that in the beginning King writes it from the perspective of the Dennis, Arnie Cunninghams best friend. And you can see the change happening in Arnie through his best friend and that gives the story a subtle creepinees that builds slowly throughout the book. I'm new to King myself. I'm 45 and decided I needed to finally dive into this man's catalogue of stories. I started with Carrie and 12 books later I'm in the middle of "IT" and my only regret is that I didn't start reading him much earlier.

I wish I was constantly reading King much sooner too. I took so many years off of reading in general so I'm playing a lot of catch up lol

Thank you for this video. Like many others have said, I have recently gotten back into reading and your channel has helped.
Novellas in my favorite genres are also great for reading slumps. You are not committing to a long book.

Great list, maybe i need to re-read Christine. I suggest you just throw them in the deep side with IT, The Books of Blood etc... Just Kidding. Subscribed!

The King book that got me into horror was Salem’s Lot. Having read more King since then, I think that it was a great introduction to his style and to the genre.

Does the book get better in the second half? I've been reading it but nothing much is happening and I'm losing interest in the story.

@@cdpunk_ The book really takes its time in the early sections really laying out the characters and the townspeople but yes it does pick up a bit later on. There are definitely faster paced King books though

@@BetweentheLinesJulian Thanks for the response. I will definitely finish it soon. I have read quite a few others of King's.

I would agree that's a good one to start with. I gave that 4 stars on my first go around but it's one I'm wanting to re-read for sure.

Some "classic" horror authors you might find interesting are Shirley Jackson The Haunting of Hill House and others; and Daphne du Maurier who Hitchcock worked with converting 3 of her novels to film Rebecca, The Birds, and Jamaica Inn.

Totally agree with you regarding Christine! It is a fantastic book, and does not get enough hype! I am working my way through all of Stephen King’s books, with Talisman as my next one. Hoping that is great as well!

Wish you released this vid 2 days ago, because I was confused about where to start and I finally started with The Shining, I am a very slow reader and it'll probably take me more than a month to read The Shining which I have bought finally. I am 30 pages down and it looks fine to me right now.

I think Carrie is an awesome horror book for beginners, especially girls. It was the first Stephen King I read and I have been a Constant Reader ever since
