We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, eight years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in Chennai, India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. We hope that our travels will inspire and provide our children with the confidence to meet new people, try new foods, and enjoy learning a new language. I had my lesson there too in Feb. I was actually just cooking a green and yellow curry and pad thai as this showed up in my feed. My pictures of the building didnt do it justice and so i showed my husband and we watched this together. It tasted just as good too. Our new favourite go to is chicken and coconut soup that i made there. Great video

ปกติคนไทยจะไม่ตักข้าวใส่ลงไปในแกง แต่จะตักแกงราดลงบนข้าว เช่นถ้าคุณมีแกง 3 ถ้วย คนไทยจะเอาแกง 3 ถ้วยวางรวมกันไว้กลางโต๊ะ แล้วตักแกงราดลงบนจานข้าวของตัวเอง อย่างละนิด เพื่อที่คุณจะได้กินแกงทั้ง 3 ชนิดได้ครบทุกคน
เด็กๆ อาจจะกินข้าวไม่มาก คุณสามารถออเดอร์ข้าวเปล่า 2-3 จาน แล้วขอจานเปล่ากับทางร้านเพื่อแบ่งข้าวให้เด็กๆ ครบทุกคน ทุกคนก็จะสามารถกินแกงร่วมกันได้โดยตักแกงราดลงบนจานข้าวของตัวเอง (การขอจานเปล่าเพื่อแบ่งอาหารเป็นเรื่องปกติสำหรับประเทศไทย)

The youngest in the family is bored stiff. Good cooking class for grown up but certainly for the kids and the little one the safety standards in the cooking class is not well thought through as yet. For example the height of the table, the tools safety and suitable equipment and supervision during class. Though it is a marvelous idea for the whole family to get involved as an all rounded activity that everyone takes part. ❤

As a Thai, I think the red curry is much hotter than the green one ( the colors come from the chillies). The yellow one is the hottest because it is a Southern style cooking. For me the Southern Thai dishes are the hottest.
Btw, for me, the yellow curry is not a Matsaman มัสมั่น

Herb vegetables to be put in Tomyum Soup /coconut milk soup is galagal not ginger.
Galangal root makes the difference! Completely different from ginger, but for Americans who may have a difficult time finding galangal root, ginger root is a decent substitute. My favorite Thai soup is Tom Kha Gai!🥰

@@carriejames5038 In Thailand we eat steam rice with side dish such as tom yum,tom kha kai(chicken coconut milk soup)green/red curry,panaeng curry,musamun curry,stir-fried vegetable,pad gra praw etc. This way of eating can reduce the spicy of curry if you put less curry soup on the rice dish and you will enjoy eating more.
@@carriejames5038 Thailand has many types of side dish, in addition to various curry soup and tom yum we also have various yum, fried and stir-fried,boil,steam to be eaten with steam rice in various menu.
I appreciate people who learn atleast a basic of cooking what they eat. Otherwise it just looks like some obnoxious food critic from the movies. Good experience for the children
