ABOUT US
Meet the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly, along with our three adventurous children. Nine years ago, we embarked on an incredible journey, leaving our home in Alaska, USA, behind to explore the world. As teachers, we were fortunate to find amazing opportunities in Chennai, India, where we spent two enriching years. Seeking new experiences, we then made our way to the United Arab Emirates.
Just as we were settling into our UAE life, the pandemic struck, but it didn't dampen our spirits. Instead, we saw it as an opportunity for another chapter in our journey. We moved to Indonesia, where we currently hold teaching jobs, and it has been a time of learning, growth, and connection.
As a family, we thrive on traveling and embracing the unknown. Adventures are our way of life, and through our experiences, we aim to inspire our children to be confident in meeting new people, trying diverse cuisines, and immersing themselves in different languages and cultures.

As a certified Hong Konger living in the US, I approve this video.
Thank you so much! Granite just mentioned that Hong Kong is his favorite city! 😀
Is there such a "certified Hongkonger"?
Certified by CIA???

@@huangzb8060 why so serious bro😅
Cedar thanking her dad for bringing them to the cat cafe shows how polite they are. Well raised. Lovely!
Cedar melted my heart with that thanks you. :-)
I was about to say!!!
This is nice your family can visit Hong Kong food 😃👍👍👍😋😋😋
Your kids are amazing, and they are really brave to try lots of new foods.
I love how you interact with your children. You're a lovely dad who encourages your kids to express their feelings. Growing up in Hong Kong, I was always scared of my parents.
Since your wife is vegetarian, I would recommend "Everyday" on Hillwood Road, Tsimshatsui. It is a vegetarian buffet restaurant. Lots of choices, very good, you can try different Chinese vegetarian dishes there. Price starts from $78 per person depending on what time and which day of the week you go. In fact, there are a number of vegetarian buffet restaurants in Hong Kong, they are pretty good and not expensive.
Fantastic short tour of HK eateries. Kids can be difficult at that age but love the fact they try anything and enjoy the tour. Look forward to more of HK
Glad you enjoyed it!
Although in 🇨🇦still miss HK, your videos caught my eyes recently and really love your parenting all your kids are wonderful and sweet they are so happy and they try everything, that is amazing and definitely a very memorable life experience for them, grateful for your appreciation in our culture, keep your great job going 👍👍 well done!
Thank you so much!
As a Hong Konger myself, it is good to see you and your family are open and brave enough to explore the local foods which are really delicious rather than only wanting to eat burgers in MacDonald all the times but honestly, the environment of and surrounding these eating places do make me feel a bit ashamed (even myself maybe a bit hesitant to go there 😅). You should try Yum Cha as well if you guys are still in Hong Kong.
Thanks for the tips!
dont be ashamed usa's biggest cities are far dirtier than hong kong by 1000x
Hesitant? Those hole in the walls are the best
yum Cha? often reservation and waiting....these places exist for a reason.....there is a demand for it.
Oh that lemon tea is one of the iconic drinks in Hong Kong!
Good kids and good parenting. Thank you for sharing the videos in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 trip😘
Our pleasure!
Your kids are real foodies!!😘😘 They are open to different food, thanks to their parents!!
Oh my, I am salivating just by watching this video! 😅 Jon, you might have had the meats in reverse though. The roasted pork that you are referring to is actually the suckling pig and vice versa. Nevertheless, amazing, amazing food! I really love your videos!
Ha! Thanks for the correction. :-)
Your kids are so respectful to other cultures and cuisines! You and your wife are good parents! Respect! ✊🏼
Thank you so much
Thank you for doing this. Hong Kong is a place where I grew up in, it meant a lot for people enjoying their time and culture here after what we have been through.
Yes, apparently a poll showed that the vast majority of HKers want the UK to take over HK again. Not sure if HK doesn't legally belong to mainland China though and that it was only a colony under the UK. Furthermore, HK actually depends on Guangdong for fresh water. In any case, it seems like Beijing wants to turn HK, instead of Shenzhen, into China's semiconductor manufacturing hub. I gather that it'll boost HK's economy.
Your kids are so fortunate to be able to have all the unique travels and adventures you take them on. The foods looked delicious!!
Thank you so much.
Your children are so cute. Happy to see them.
Thank you so much 😊
Your meat choices omg so good that is what HongKong is famous for. The guy gave Forest a tea so kind
He was a very nice man. :-)
A great dad, always getting the family together for a happy time. 😊
Big sister has the most descriptive and vivid comments on what she tasted! 👍🏻
Love your fam. The kids are very adorable and obedient
This is the real HK! Love how you get the rids involved in the food reviews as well.
I am a foodie in HK , born and work in HK while spending some time studying and living in Canada. Kudos to youas you are training your kids well on how to appreciate food! Joyking used to be my favorite but the Charsiu quality has dropped or others have improved significantly. The rice cheung fun is also not bad. These are places I would go from time to time! I would go to Cat Cafe or even snake, owl and porcupine cafe in Tokyo only as requested by my kids~ Gelato-to-go is actually alright too!
Awesome! Thank you!
Such a lovely video of all the traditional eats from HK. Being Chinese I really was encouraged by the way your family has wholeheartedly embraced the food!
Thank you so much! It's one of our favorite parts of traveling!
I love that your kids are very open and willing to try different foods from different cultures😊
Welcome to Hong Kong. There are more beautiful places to visit!
If you love Hong Kong you should look into the NET scheme as it is an excellent teaching job. I taught in HK under the NET scheme for 13 years and loved it.
The salary (housing allowance inclusive for the NET teachers) is nearly the salary for local primary school principals. The workload of NET teachers ,however, is just 1/4 to 1/3 max of local teachers.
Now these would be on my list for my next trip. Thank you!
The best day is a new video from you all! Love it! Glad you're taking advantage of being surrounded by so many beautiful countries!
Thank you so much!
Happy that u and your family had a great time in HongKong! Thank you for visiting:) love your kids sooo much!
Thank you for making videos of my hometown! Hopefully more people get to know Hong Kong through your videos.
How amazing your kids would try all the food! Their comments on food are professional!
Love the video!
Wohoo! Very nice list of restaurants! Glad you went to joy hing cuz that’s my top 3 for bbq charsiu! Poor Kelly but you can order “Lai fun” (soup noodle with no meat in it) next time whenever you go to those charsiu restaurant.Glad Forrest is starting to enjoy the local food and grow up right in front of our eyes! Looking forward to his food review comments in the future!
but the Lai fun noodle would probably be put in bone broth, need to check with the waiter first 😅
@@2soulss you are correct! I forgot to mention that!
Your video is sooooo good!! As a HKer in the US now, I miss all these places!!!!! And your family is just soooo sweet and adorable!! Thank u again!!!

You surely hit all the right spots for local food. What a great family you have and your children all seem very polite and quite the food reviewers themselves. Hope you had a good trip and will return again.

Love that you all open to trying food from a very different culture. Looks like you had a good time in Hong Kong. I'm glad :)
Great to know that you and your family love Hong Kong cuisine and street food. As a Hong Kong local, LAN Fong Yuen's tea-coffee and Hop Yik Tai are my favorite food shops. Definitely delicious!
Thanks for sharing this on HK food, and your kids are so good at commenting on the taste, even better than our TV host!👏👏 Hope to see you and your family coming to HK again!🎉🎉
This is nice video.
I'm really enjoy it❤
Wonderful family, enjoy watching your video. 👍🏼🫰
Thank you 🤗
welcome to hong kong .hope you enjoy all
The crispy, thicker skin one is called crispy pork. The one with thinner skin is the suckling pig. Actually, Joy Hing’s Cha Siu is the best of its all dishes!
I love watching Forest eating the rice by himself. I live in HK and amazed your family is open to trying everything
What a fun video
Nice, you even went for chongfan (stream rice rolls). The sauce was the major favour. Used to be our street breakfast on our way to school. 😊👍
thank you for showing the world on the great things n great food in HK ❤❤ my city needs that fun and joyful vibes to be back as the international city again ❤❤ thank you 🙏🙏
Selalu tthibur dgn tingkah laku forest apa yg dlakukan dan yg dibicarakn forest, uhhh gemes nya forest cute, begitu lahap dn mnikmati sekali makan nasinya forest
Terima kasih! Dia adalah anak kecil yang baik.
I lived in Seattle for 3 years, and I have met some extremely nice, kind, and wonderful family just like Jonathan and Kelly's. I am glad to see the whole family was having a good time in Hong Kong. Thank you for choosing us, and I am quite sure your family is going to be welcomed anywhere on earth as long as it is safe to visit.
I'll definitely put Alaska on my list to visit, as the landscape and glaciers are absolutely stunning.
Such a great video ,and so many options of food in Hong Kong. Love how the kids are so respectful and they love the foods !
Thank you. Hong Kong street food is amazing!
There’s also a Disneyland in Hong Kong 😊I would love to go some day I heard it’s not packed

Welcome to HK, it is glad that your family have a good time here.
Thank you! 😃
Look Yummy😋hopes Kelly get to eat on the next restaurant. 😀
Forest is so cute
Thank you very much BPF very good 👍🏻
Welcome to travel to Hong Kong and introduce Hong Kong’s culture and food. Thank you and your family for your positive review of this place. In fact, if you go to a supermarket or truck shop to buy daily necessities or snacks, the price will be about 30% lower than in a 711 or Circle K. In addition, Cha Chaan tang also a good choice, and locals often go there for Tea set.
Hong Kong is really amazing and cool!
16:45 that's the famous beverage in HK. like lemon tea. i love this one too ☺☺
Amazing how you n your kids can used the chopsticks so well which I’m struggling to use 😁
welcome to Hong Kong, have a good day
The little boy is lovely ❤😂🥰
I think you've mistaken the Roast Pork for the Suckling Pig, I watched closely at the 3 to 4 times when you kept pointing at the roast pork while referring as suckling pig, and point back to the suckling pig then refer it as the roast pork! Either ways, great video, and a very charming family, I'm a fan!👍
The food look so yummy! the BBQ pork, would love to visit HK and try it one day
You should!
I love the cat cafe. 😻😻😻
The kids are so cute and very well behaved they are so lucky to get to travel to every country and they are so good at reviewing their all the foods . Fantastic kids 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏💕💕💕💕💕
beautiful family breaking bread together it gets as good as it gets just treasure the moment happiness is beyond measure Congrat
Welcome to HK🎉 enjoy
Really nice 😻
Happy to know that you and your family enjoy our food so much. We have the best (Char Siu, Honey Barbecue Pork ) in the world. Though it was originated from the Chinese of region Guangzhou or otherwise, some people including me still like to call it Canton .
Thank you for the added information!
Definately, that's one dish I look for when I come to HK, it's incredible. We didn't think much of the Duck but once we tried the Char Siu, there was no looking backwards.
enjoyed your video, beautiful and cute kids
Nice. Thankyou
I recommend the cat cafe 😀 Seriously though, I didn't realise how varied the food is in HK and how family friendly the places are. Great video!
First time i see your video and I'm Hong Konger who lives in Canada!.. i'm happy to see your family enjoy our home food... but there are more you should try later!. Your family is very lovely as well! cheers.
You know Hop Yick Tai! That’s good!
That's was sweet happy ending with ice cream for the dessert.
