Based on my experience on 3/9/24, another issue that seems problematic is large families/groups that rush the gate so that they can get in free. For instance, at DCA I saw a CM open gate for stroller and stroller, and multiple people entered. They ignored CM and tried to rush in. They were stopped and got into an argument with security. I left before seeing results. Same kinda thing happens at lightning lanes at DLR. 🤦🏻♂️
@@ReddOchoberagreed. Even healthy abled bodied people hurt like heck at the end of the day, especially after multiple days of 20,000+ steps and hours of standing. Because of this, many rent ECVs to prevent this amount of suffering from even happening. And it’s not just parks, it’s anywhere that requires that amount of steps. Plus, when you do feel that bad, when you are surrounded by that many ECVs, it’s really difficult to tell yourself that you don’t need one. That’s said, typically these are park rentals and returned at the end of the day, whereas the ones bringing them on busses either brought them from home, or had their rental delivered to their hotel. They tend to be the ones that actually do need them for medical reasons, because ECVs themselves are a bit of a burden. It takes them so long to load that I’m sure they would rather just hop on board and sit in a regular seat much faster if they could. Especially if it means avoiding an entire group of exhausted park guests who got in line before you from watching the entire process. It’s mostly a problem in the mornings when entire families want to get to the park as soon as possible. If there is already 2 ECVs, that means you’re family either has to board without you, or wait even longer, so that they may ride with you. When you’re leaving the park, it’s not that big of a deal because what specially magical moment are your missing out on?
Heres something intresting microsoft and google said they refused to use this technology at the border where it is needed for facial recognition makes you wonder why????
funny, they have it in airports, but not at the border- to concerned about John Dinglehopper flying to Dallas than they are MS-13 sneaking across the border...
Simple. You accidentally let in the wrong person using someone else’s park ticket and the risk is low. They still had to go through security anyway. However, you let someone in at the border by mistake, and the risk is much higher. Disney doesn’t do background checks on park guests, but if you’re traveling internationally, your criminal history is kind of important.
@@UmmYeahOk this legit happened not to long ago on a Delta flight, some guy took a picture of another passenger's ticket with his cell phone, and used that to get on the flight...
I assumed you meant they used it through a TSA checkpoint. I happen to fly out of Dallas all the time, both DFW and love field, and they never look at me, just my ticket. They only care at the TSA checkpoint. That said, my father once couldn’t board and had to take a later flight in 2004 I think because he lost his ticket somewhere at some airport bar. That might’ve been John Dinglehopper. Since it was paper, back then, you couldn’t reproduce it. I would think there would have been some issue with taking a photo of a ticket when the second person can’t get their ticket to work. The plane would not leave, because the real person would show receipts of the ticket purchase and an employee would actually check the assigned seat of whoever used the ticket first. Not in the seat (because they sat elsewhere or hiding in the bathroom) second person gets sat. Time to pull away at the gate, well, there’s someone who isn’t seated because either the criminal is sitting in their seat, and they’re too shy to say anything, or the bathroom stall is occupied, and they will not pull away. I guess that’s one of the perks of over selling flights. Eventually everyone’s ticket would be reexamined, and the culprit found. The only way this guy could fly would be if there were empty seats, and not enough people willing to state he’s in their seat. A guy moves from seat to seat, eventually someone will become suspicious and ask a flight attendant to check on him.
@@UmmYeahOk nooo this was at the gate- there's video footage of the guy taking a pic with his phone of another passenger's boarding pass- he then used that picture on his phone to get onto the plane- gate agents just looked at his phone and probably scanned that instead of the paper boarding pass
If anyone is looking for more information with the Facial Recognition tech, i would highly recommend reading the works of Kashmir Hill, perhaps the leading journalistic investigator of biometric tech in the world.
$20 bottomless mimosas? I know what happened. People wanted to get their money’s worth, and drank too many. It wasn’t that Disney was losing money with the order, but rather, guests were getting drunk.
Uh, HELL NO. NO FACIAL RECOGNITION. Also Trident might remind ppl of an old white man who was a king that sacrificed himself to save his daughter (Ariel) and as a major DEi participant for all the imaginary good it does Disney can’t have that so they renamed it to Wish. Not a fact but it is definitely possible.
You think they named it Wish instead of Trident because of Disney’s need to appease some all-powerful “DEi”? It’s also entirely possible they wanted to theme it alongside their upcoming major animated film of the *same exact name* that was advertised to be a celebration of Disney’s 100 year anniversary as a company-which do you *actually* think is more likely? Also, ‘Trident’ was just its project codename, has nothing to do with what they plan to name the *actual* product. Not a fact in your comment indeed.
@@goobert5485 yup that IS why I put that at the end of the comment. They have been doing stuff for DEi/ESG scores & THAT’S a fact, it’s just a matter of how much stuff is done because of that, that’s all.
Great job while Tom is away. Good luck!

Can Josh Gad get his wish grabted to become CEO? Seems like the next step.
well he's already tried to climb up into Bob Iger's lap to see how grown ups do business :)
They need to increase the number of busses not replace. And add drivers. They pack everyone in like sardines and it’s so uncomfortable!
@@johnnylongfeather3086 It’s infuriating!

We got a $100 Disney gift card and three fast passes for each member of our party for taking a DVC tour. This was obviously a few years back.
