I watched the Hall of Presidents show for the first time last month, and it was honestly disappointing to hear people boo certain presidents and cheer for others during the roll call. It felt immature and took away from an otherwise great show.
I agree that the boos and cheers are disappointing. The last time I say the show, in June, the audience remained respectful and quiet. It was very enjoyable.
Last two times I saw the show, 2018 and 2023, people were booing and cheering for certain presidents, namely only modern ones. Specifically in 2023 there was a group that just booed over Biden’s speech. Politics shouldn’t be this uncivil, I wish that it wasn’t fueled by fear and hatred.

I loved Walt’s patriotism. From Hall of Presidents to America the Beautiful 360 to America Sings. He believed in the experiment of democracy. I hope that one day we can all get back to that optimism and pride in our country so that whatever party is in power, we know that it’s all for the good of the country and the dream and promise it holds for people seeking a better life.

If Disney is smart they will continue to support the American story. Perhaps after a while, they could move some of the older presidents to video and have just like the last 10 presidents in animatronics. My family got to see that show for the first time 2 years ago and we loved the patriotic vibes. We should never shy away from American History. It is who we are and what makes us what we are today.

We should never lose the Hall of Presidents. Most people, this is the only time they can see the Presidential Seal in a building. It's a wonderful show and really captures the spirit of the United States. Let us not forget how patriotic Walt Disney was.
As a mom, I love watching the presidents and the presentation about America in Epcot with my kids! It's like seeing history come to life! I hope it's something they never replace!

As a Canadian, I can very much appreciate it for what it is and its importance. We don't have anything at this level for Canadian history and it perhaps it is a shame that we don't. As fascinating (and largely unknown) as Canada's story can be, and trust me on this, it would not be difficult to generate WAY more controversy in a presentation of Canadian Prime Ministers!

I'm going in early January so I'll probably miss this yet again. Last time I went was 2017 and it was closed for the lengthy refurb then. The Hall of Presidents is an iconic and important piece of Walt Disney World park history and regardless if you are for or against a candidate the sitting president deserves to be added to this attraction. Whoever won this election should be added, Trump or Harris. And since Trump won I'd just return his figure to the front. No need to overcomplicate or record new material. Possibly a new head as it is one of the worst Disney has done but whatever.
Sorry but Disney will be scummy if they get rid of it because a nominee they didn’t like got elected. Hall of presidents is so much more than just the current president, it’s so much more than just even the history of all presidents, it was Walt’s literal passion for American history and presidents there in, and a brother honoring his dead brothers passion.
They need to keep the Hall of Presidents and always strive to show each president in the best light possible regardless of political or personal opinions. Keep the attraction classy and positive and a place where people can come together and enjoy learning instead of being a device of partisan division.
It seems that the Hall of Presidents should close now in order to get the change up and running sooner. Thank you for trying to be an authentic news show.

I actually like the idea of putting Muppets in hall of presidents I believe it would attract new crowds and put the Muppets back in the spotlight in some shape because after all they are a disney property it would also become an e-ticket attraction because as of now it's not a popular attraction just My take tho

I haven’t been to the Hall of Presidents since 1974 and there was controversy at that time as well. To quote Forest Gump, “That’s all I have to say about that”. Lots of good information in here. I do enjoy the podcast and it is a great resource for anyone thinking about going to the theme parks.
The hall of Presidents should just add the Donald Trump oath of office they already had back in maybe they can look into fixing how Trump, Biden & Obama look to look more accurate. Also thank you Tom for explaining that the Hall of Presidents was something Walt wanted and is original to WDW also it’s dedicated to the memory of Walt Disney and also the current version of the show is excellent
Indeed Hall of Presidents and Liberty Square (as Liberty Street) began as a cancelled Disneyland project. Didn't know about the Ice Palace being for FL though! I hope they don't remove the Hall of Presidents, though I think they could improve it! It'd be cool to have more interactions between the presidents or something more than just the nod they do...the show is very film-heavy
Regarding the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights…..I wonder if it has to do with preserving the architecture of the castle itself as well? Our historic county courthouse used to have beautiful lights strung all over it and the local historic society pointed out that every time those lights were hung and pulled back down it risked creating damage to the historic structure. So they’ve done projections for the last 5 years or so. I’m no lighting expert nor a historic building expert but I’ve often wondered if this was one of the reasons the stopped doing it…..
I so wish i could come down for Dinoland’s last Christmas. I just love the Restaurantosaurus decorations and Christmas theming! I’m waiting for surgery to be scheduled and just can’t come.
Get rid of the Hall of Presidents and replace it with the Lincoln and Walt Disney presentation like Disneyland. It’s too divisive these days and needs to go.
I have not been back to Disney during the Holidays since they did away with the Dream light and the Osborne Lights. It's just not the same anymore. They should do some thing like the Osborne lights down Main Street.
I love the HoP, this is coming from someone in the UK. American patriotism is often joked about over here by people but i think it’s great to be able celebrate your own country and stay true to what Walt originally planned for the park. Also those seats and so comfortable hehe

It could be fun to have all of the presidents recite the oath together. Obv not all the voices would be accurate, but having them recite them as a group would be more impactful and less specifically political since they have all made the same oath and commitment.

Idk how I feel about this. Last time trump was in the center. Disney got rid of reflections of earth, great movie ride, and Bob Chapek was in full effect.
I think, my humble opinion, there is so much going on at the MK, they just put the old animatronic back in the center as is with the old recording, and done. As for the show itself, I haven't done the Hall of Presidents show in aaaaages, perhaps even 20 years. I have done the Epcot America show whenever I need a nap in air conditioning, the animatronics are fantastic, but the story itself needs updating and the illuminated statues around the theater are so jingoistic.
I love watching The Hall of Presidents. Sadly I'm not gonna see the slightly updated show because... well I already saw it when Trump was President during his first term. I'll watch it again when we elect someone new.
My thoughts are: (1) if the Disney management wants to respect Walt’s wishes, i think the Hall of Presidents should be kept as a museum. Put the sitting president somewhere with the others and remove the part of the sitting president speaking. (2) if Disney management wants to continue down its course of disrepecting park history and Walt’s dream ( that is, replacing Rivers of America and the steamboat with Carsland), it should remove all the Presidents (after all, the great sculptor making realistic President faces retired) and put in a Muppets-based comic American history show. It kills me that i didn’t get to see the Muppet “Great Moments in American History” before it was removed. Plus, if there are more Muppets in MK, maybe they can destroy my beloved Muppets 3D in Hollywood Studios as it converts that part of the park to Monsters Inc.
I’d be heartbroken if the Hall of Presidents was removed. I agree it seems “problematic” to some, but people need to understand that it was Walt’s dream and maybe that needs to be re-iterated as part of the attraction? Growing up it was my favorite part of my park visits. Regardless of your belief, it’s part of history!!!

I rode the hall of president's on 11/6, there were 2 disney security guards inside the attraction the entire time. One in the museum area and the other in the theater. Sad that this is what our country has been reduced to.
I found the Dream Lights to be an eye sore during the day. It looked like that house that leaves a mess of Christmas lights up through summer. It is debatable whether the evening payoff was worth having a messy castle for 70% of the parks opening hours. Looking at photos online now to refresh my memory, I'm personally not a fan of the Dream Lights, even at night. It was from a time in history. Nostalgia is a funny and subjective thing (like the cake castle). I am glad we have moved on.
I hope Trump's animatronic starts by saying, "As I was saying."

If you close the HoP, just change the name of the park. If you take that, Tom Sawyers Island and Rivers out of MK, it stops being anything DISNEY.

They have said several times "there are no sacred cows". I think it just comes down to if a current attraction is in the way of a new one.

It could be fun to have all of the presidents recite the oath together. Obv not all the voices would be accurate, but having them recite them as a group would be more impactful and less specifically political since they have all made the same oath and commitment.

Idk how I feel about this. Last time trump was in the center. Disney got rid of reflections of earth, great movie ride, and Bob Chapek was in full effect.

I love how when this happened I 1st panicked and then wondered where Trump would stand during that ride lol.
I think, my humble opinion, there is so much going on at the MK, they just put the old animatronic back in the center as is with the old recording, and done.
As for the show itself, I haven't done the Hall of Presidents show in aaaaages, perhaps even 20 years. I have done the Epcot America show whenever I need a nap in air conditioning, the animatronics are fantastic, but the story itself needs updating and the illuminated statues around the theater are so jingoistic.
I agree! Bring back the Dreamlights! I saw them once and have great pictures! I wish future people could enjoy them too!

I love watching The Hall of Presidents. Sadly I'm not gonna see the slightly updated show because... well I already saw it when Trump was President during his first term.
I'll watch it again when we elect someone new.
My thoughts are: (1) if the Disney management wants to respect Walt’s wishes, i think the Hall of Presidents should be kept as a museum. Put the sitting president somewhere with the others and remove the part of the sitting president speaking. (2) if Disney management wants to continue down its course of disrepecting park history and Walt’s dream ( that is, replacing Rivers of America and the steamboat with Carsland), it should remove all the Presidents (after all, the great sculptor making realistic President faces retired) and put in a Muppets-based comic American history show. It kills me that i didn’t get to see the Muppet “Great Moments in American History” before it was removed. Plus, if there are more Muppets in MK, maybe they can destroy my beloved Muppets 3D in Hollywood Studios as it converts that part of the park to Monsters Inc.

I’d be heartbroken if the Hall of Presidents was removed. I agree it seems “problematic” to some, but people need to understand that it was Walt’s dream and maybe that needs to be re-iterated as part of the attraction? Growing up it was my favorite part of my park visits. Regardless of your belief, it’s part of history!!!
Are you kidding? The CRANE is the reason they're giving for taking the lights being taken away? People can photo edit a crane out of a picture. BRING BACK THE LIGHTS, ALREDY!!
I rode the hall of president's on 11/6, there were 2 disney security guards inside the attraction the entire time. One in the museum area and the other in the theater. Sad that this is what our country has been reduced to.
I found the Dream Lights to be an eye sore during the day. It looked like that house that leaves a mess of Christmas lights up through summer.
It is debatable whether the evening payoff was worth having a messy castle for 70% of the parks opening hours. Looking at photos online now to refresh my memory, I'm personally not a fan of the Dream Lights, even at night.
It was from a time in history. Nostalgia is a funny and subjective thing (like the cake castle). I am glad we have moved on.
