So another Shoshana Zuboff fan. Zuboff spoke at the International Grand Committee on Big Data, Privacy and Democracy in Ottawa. She gave the first half of her speech on May 27th, and gave the second half of her speech and took questions from politicians around the world on May 28th. Only the second half is youtubed, so gave you the Parliamentary link for the second half - just click Watch - it is set to English.

Deleted my account 2 years ago precisely about election time due to the political bombardment and to see family and friends arguing over that.
And i literally started feeling like a heavy weight lifted off of me. I have to say one of my best decisions to close up FB.

0:21 yeah .. if you wanna get serious about fines .. you don't go after fixed values ... you go after percentages .. we are going to fine you 25% of you yearly revenue ... that way its self adjusting to hurt in proportion to the size of the company automatically...

The Cambridge Analytica 'factor' is the smelliest corpse in this whole thing. It is the smoking gun between the Trump Campaign and Russians. Bannon should be arrested. These clowns (Bannon. Murdoch, Farage, Koch's and Putin) have NO right to decide what political 'evolution' is appropriate for entire countries.

If people would communicate directly instead of being connected-disconnected, many, many problems would be solved -- less personal data losses, more personal time, less programming, less stress and who knows what else.
We pay these systems to derail and devastate us. People give their power away constantly. We must seek something higher within ourselves and move forward with insight

Sounds like there is some opportunity to start a fresh new social media platform that respects they’re users privacy. While it will not be easy to make the world understand that a change in a social media platform is necessary for there own good, if someone would be willing to attempt going up against Goliath it’s pay off could be astronomical. If the terms and condition could be transparent enough to gain the trust of the users by not allowing your private information to be used by ANY third parties at all for any reason we may be able to take the power away from the giant. #FreeSpace

All you need to do is go on to youtube, facebook, twitter, and look up some random topics that have nothing to do with your interests. Do this several times and day and you'll completely screw with the data they have on you. If we all do it as a society the data industry will become worthless.

That's roughly $585 for each of the 85 million people affected. I think companies like Equifax, social media, capital one would take life a lot serious if they were fined for each user. Now Facebook wants to get into banking. That the fine grow more.

I would have enjoyed hearing the thoughts of these perceptive film-makers much more if the shrill interviewer had just asked them questions rather than theatrically signally her shock with hyperbolic statements such as "we're slowly being poisoned to death". Is this just the way US TV works?

Can our innovativeness keep pace with our innovations? Clearly, our human and societal development is not! It isn't merely that people like Zuckerberg seek to profit from that gap, in his case using social media, it's that they put profits before people.

Lets face it, money talks and bull$hit walks. THEY DONT CARE how it impacts their reputation or what they harm, the environment or all life forms.
I say fine everything by a huge % of the PROFIT plus a fine. Made 537 billion-- fine them a huge 75% of the profit of that violation plus a fine.
Than use that money TO HOUSE THE HOMELESS. Guaranteed it will never be done again.

I mean...you are a rational, thinking human being who can search and analyze the platform of each politician, his/her past actions or work and see if it aligns with your values, morals or ideas. They’re going to try to advertise to you. That’s what politician have been doing for centuries. We have technology now. Stored data, fast data. Why are we surprised?

such companies are parasitic on the progressive dementia of people who do not live their lives, not their head ... everything that is put on the Internet ceases to be only yours ... does anyone have any illusions about this issue?..
and the question is not that they are trying to use you - the question is why you play this game ...
instead of this company there will be others-humanity has not given up any bad things that invented and tested ...
and always those who do evil will be justified, trying to become a victim of the criminal, like the Nazis who said-we just did our job ...
