    This shade is phenomenal. Like Shelly I've been covering lamp shades for over 40 years in the techniques that you were using and learning as you go along are ones that were used by Victorian shade makers and dressmakers. When I thrift fabrics I look for silk lingerie and wedding dresses to use for shades. Sometimes I also stencil fabric after I've cut the patterns. My four cats are also a big help. 82 and still making lampshades.

    Little tip from an embroiderer for anyone interested, when we transfert a drawing by hand we use frixion pen because the ink disapears with heat so if your embroidery doesn't match exactly in certain parts it's ok because the outline will be erasable.

    • @amandacronwright3190
      @amandacronwright3190 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yes it is 100% forgiving unlike paint. There are also water soluble pens too, so you can draw and then once your done put water over the pen lines and they wash away.

    I LOVED her Netflix show, which is how I found her. I'm not going to lie, I check her channel pretty often, just to see if she's uploaded anything. I just love how she goes about her work and to see someone so talented just doing their thing. It's been 5 months since the last video and I'm pretty sad about it.

      She mostly uploads on Patreon. The basic tiers are super pricey $3 or $7 per month.

    Christine this lampshade is beyond fabulous! I love gothic style and I think putting the spider on was incredibly clever! Just gave it that extra grandness! I’ve been watching you for many years and you blow me away every time! You’re so talented..........when you say easy I know I’ll never be able to do it! I find them difficult to even image! Everything I’ve seen you do is on another level! Thank you for taking this mere mortal along for your incredible journey! I have lots of fur babies too! Couldn’t live without them! Thank you again for a wonderful video!

    Ok it might just be me but when I watch other TH-camrs videos I’ll think I’m going to go watch their video but with her videos I’ll think something like I’ll go spend some time with Madam McConnell like her videos just seem so personal and cozy!

    I had to laugh at your comment about your fur babies being attracted to you while sewing - I think it might be the same with children, too - lol - my mother was a very good seamstress - she made a lot of my & my sisters’ clothing, as well as her own & she always said that as soon as she would sit down at the sewing machine, my younger sisters would start crawling around her - they were only 15 months apart - she tried to be extra cautious, but just happened to look down one day & there was one of my sisters just about to put a pin into her mouth ! I don’t think she could relax at the sewing machine until they were about 5 or 6 ! That was a memory I hadn’t thought of for a long time & my mom is gone now, so thanks for jogging my memory ! All that aside, I’m sure I am repeating myself to say how just simply amazing you are at everything you tackle - I really don’t know of anyone who has such a wide range of skills - I just can’t figure out how you could have learned it all in the short time you have been on earth - it’s astonishing, truly …. thank you so much for sharing your life with us - I have never, ever attempted any of the things I have seen you do & pretty sure I never will, but I am nevertheless fascinated by it all ! Greetings from Florida ! 🥰

    I love it! This is the ‘old lady style’ lamp of my dreams, and you have inspired me into remake my own lamp. Although it is a modern lamp, it has this gorgeous ‘vintage style’ porcelain owl as a base but has a very plain lampshade; so now I want to remake it in this style. I think that moss green and earth tones will suit my vision and current decor. Thank you for sharing your process, it’s always so interesting and inspiring, and really gives us a starting point for when we want to make something similar.

    Woman, you are my Heroine! What CAN'T you do !? And may I point out that not only do you do ALL that manual stuff that involves hard working hands BUT you manage to do it AND maintain gorgeous, dainty, lady-like hands with a beautiful manicure!! My hands work hard at crafty stuff too but they look like those "man hands" from that Seinfeld episode! lol!

    I found a giant double layered old lampshade, it’s like two separate skins, sewn so taut like a tent. It’s all stained but in good condition and I’m so glad I found your new video here, I’ll learn what to do with it! 😍 Your numerous creative skills are beyond amazing, thanks so much for showing us all 🤩 (I am also a child-free woman with several cats, you made me laugh with that quip)🤣

    Crafting while surrounded by kitties is pretty much the life goal I set out to achieve. Kudos on living the dream! I think the hand-stitching was beautifully employed here. As much as I love hot-glue, you get so much more precision and longevity out of sewing those little details in place.

    I knit & crochet so I work with yarn & string along. What I've learned is that if you roll up the fabric or whatever it is you are using it helps a lot with keeping it together, keep it clean, keep from being tangled, etc. Totally understand about having animals when doing a project. We have mischief little children & little fuzzy critters too 😂
