When the video started I thought her house would look gothic. I'm was surprised at how wrong I was. I'm so inspired by her style, and how she made alot of her pieces. She also doesn't spend alot of money. This is one of the most beautiful homes I ever saw, it's so dreamy.

If this was my house - I wouldn't want strangers in my house. Let alone touching my things, maybe even breaking them (yes airbnb guests will often break and/or scratch your shit)..

I really hope that whoever buys this house keeps the aesthetic of it and just genuinely appreciates everything that Christine put into it. Like the painted wallpaper is so delicately made and the cupboards in the kitchen are so quaint. It just makes me sad to think that those types of styles are so easily dismissed when it comes to buying/redecorating houses

Debra Meyers 🤔 I might have some ideas? Maybe it’s a time in your life that it’s not that you ARE old (65 is not old:) it’s a wonderful age) but u FEEL old. You’ve been around the SAME things for a long time. What if you can sell some stuff? Like on Facebook marketplace? U can have them come pick it up so u don’t have to do too much labor. I know the mindset of wanting to keep things makes it hard to let stuff go tho, I understand that. But maybe you could make some money doing it. Giving yourself a fresh new canvas to work with. Personality comes not just with stuff, what about plants or something? Not too much labor and u could fill a house and make it a personality (it’s so hard to put into words the mental picture I have I’m sorry) 🤔🤔 hAha if I could I’d totally wanna help you. None of what I said probably helped , I’m just rambling
Debra Meyers I hope you you can check some of your items and maybe you can let go of some things that you can part with and start slowly to chip away at things so you can display your precious vintage items.
The problem with that is usually money, when you're young and trying to make it financially.
@Debra Meyers don't be depressed! Is there anyone who can help you? Take your time and slowly pull those treasures out of the boxes. You are NOT too old to enjoy them, love your treasures and set your house up. Just take your time, don't worry so much about making a lot of things, just set up what you have, it will be beautiful.

Oh my God she is amazing! I can't believe she built and painted all that by herself.
We do the same with our pets. My boy is my first splurge, he came from my dad's pure bred husky, but all the others are rescue. Our newest rescue was covered in poultry gleas, on the verge of death, found on the freeway, and we named him Fyodor Baklava, but we started calling him Stinks. Alllll of our animals have their official names and two or three evolved(devolved) nicknames.

It's so refreshing that Christine McConnell is candid about limited budgets, not being organised, and not consistently being as tidy as we see when the house is "camera-ready"! It does not make a dent in her mystique if you ask me; on the contrary, I find her even more impressive and relatable!

Well she wants to move from California to the east, area is a BIG deal. Plus, she’s a creative that wants to decorate and create everything, working on a new blank slate must be such a temptation.
@@Frankenzebra house boat kitchens are better! They are small on purpose and include fix+fits made for small spaces, our house kitchens have standard cupboards and appliances in them that don't actually fit, lol! Last place I had did not have space for the kitchen door, also I don't think you could open the oven when someone was in the bathroom either. But yh, for her level of art she needs more kitchen space, I am amazed she has managed so much in that, admittedly adorable, space.
@Michele no worries, it was kinda true and it is very funny. So, yes, our kitchens often have doors, but the door was removed because it couldn't have opened.
The door to the bathroom on the other wall only opened part way because the kitchen counter was in the way (cut at an angle to allow door to open). The oven door opened across that entrance/exit space, so anyone in the bathroom could not get out if oven was open. It was just a really bad landlord fix up cheap job, but.... I don't live there anymore (yay!).
What I love is that your house LOOKS like you spent millions on redoing it, but everything is like refurbished, or bought on craigslist, or from garage sales. The rest is just pure talent. Love it.
