Having done both. LVN/LPN all the way. Huge difference between a Assistant and a Nurse. The salary of an LVN is greater and the various arenas of healthcare you can work in as a nurse.

Yes !! Exactly I wish I could of gone straight to RN but my situation was different and happy I went the LVN route to get where I want to be ❤️❤️

Hey For anyone reading this. Get your MA through community college and apply for FAFSA. I did it this way and I don't have loans. I have loans of 22K for my LVN program now but with the money I have been saving up as an MA I will be able to pay it all off once I graduate. Just FYI its a good idea to go this route... Work full time MA and do LVN part time its a little hard but worth the hustle. trust me :)

I wouldn’t go as far as saying a Medical Assistant does the same thing as an LPN/LVN. 🙈 An LPN provides more extensive patient care like caring for patients on ventilators and tracheotomy tubes. They start IVs, do trach care, execute care plans, charting, insert foleys, pass meds, perform CPR. More responsibilities and education for the LPN. And even more for the RN.

Not sure what state you live in but I know many states don’t allow any of that stuff for LVN except for charting, CPR and possibly passing meds. RNs can only do IVs and advanced care

I have never seen a lPN take care of a patient on a vent. If a pt is on a vent it means they are not stable or require a higher level of care which an LPN is not properly educated to do.

As a medical assistant I make $ 26 a hour ! But I work at Kaiser permanente ! I feel it varies in states but in oregon and washington we get paid very well and the cost of living aint too expensive. I became a MA because eventually I am becoming a PA which is the best route instead to be on a waiting list for a RN program ! I would never work less than in the low 20s a hour !! Is crazy how some clinics and hospital under paid MA ! We do sooo much and we deserve the pay ! The best company to work for is Kaiser !

My MA program was 2,300 out of pocket and it was 11 weeks…DO NOT waste 2yrs or 20k - 40k in student loans for a position that generally starts off at 15 - 19/hr…I love my job at the clinic as a Medial Assistant but I just want to challenge myself and to make more money. I know LPNs that make 80,000 a year just by doing agencies…Medical Assistants don’t have many agencies like CNAs, LPNs and RNs do…those agencies come with great pay and amazing flexibility…I currently work 3days out the week ( 13hr shifts ) with the rest of my week to myself which gives me a nice work-life balance but it’s no where near as nice as the balance I see LPNs and RNs get that do agency…the pay is much nicer too…I’d rather take on a couple more responsibilities and duties to make more money in this field than work as a MA for 10 + years to receive the compensation I desire…also travel LPNs and RNs are literally making close to what NPs are making in a year…if you’re also an MA thinking about going to get your LPN let’s do this!! We got it. Nothing to it but to do it 💕

MA’s are Unlicensed Assistive Personal a LVN or RN is licensed by their states BRN. Outpatient and Hospital are very different ballparks. It’s not a good practice to say each role does the same thing.

I’d say it definitely depends on your state. In my state LPN only work in long term care. Some dr office but they get paid the same as CMA in the dr offices they prefer to hire MA because they’re cheaper they will hire LPN but they get the same pay.

For ma private programs I’ve seen the cost be like 15,000 and for LVN 35,000. Some adult schools offer the program for LVN about 3,000-12,000 and MA about 3000. Check your community college/adult schools first before checking private schools

Thank you for your video! I am studying MA program at the San Francisco State University and it is certainly not easy, a lot of material to cover and need a lot of memorization. The program is not expensive because it is a Public University. But I can imagine Nursing must be harder than MA because they have higher responsibilities in the hospital settings which is more complex and demanding than a physician's clinic.
My goal is stay as MA and become Lead MA or MA Manager in a Family Practice because I am passionate about a preventive care. I do not have desire to be LVN or RN. After I complete my MA program, I plan on taking advanced classes in the Geriatrics, Pediatrics. AAMA(American Association of Medical Assistants) has started such advanced programs in Geriatrics and Pediatrics now. Thank you!

I'm an MA and bout to be done with RN program. I think it depends on a state, I heard south states prefer LPNs while north like Washington where I work prefer MAs as dominant Healthcare support job. There is about 25% scope differences between MAs and LPNs. the only thing LPNs can do more is assess a stable patient, both work under supervision of RN.

Yea. LPN’s primarily work in long term care dr offices or clinics and in home health. Not to say that they don’t or can’t work in hospitals. Hospital work is just harder to find these days for an LPN. In my state they make the LPN’s in the hospital work as a PCT/CNA just with higher pay
