A small tip for the clutch cable problem: widen the hole that connects the cable to the lever and change the cable to a bigger one. I've done the same to my Rotax 122 bike and it hasn't snapped in a while. About the oil mixer, personally I haven't had any problem with it (24k km), I guess it's just a matter of preference and checking on it once in a while. Let's just say it could be a MUCH worst experience to own one lol.
@@Gigaguenther it's not really bad, but let's just say you have to treat it like a 2 stroke should be treated lol. If you keep in check the small things nothing big will happen to it.
2 stroke oil pumps rarely fail, its mostly user error. when coming back from high rpm its wise to blip the throttle a few times to squirt extra oil into the cylinder.
I don't think throttle blips make a difference for oil injected systems, but I've been pondering to add a wee bit of premix to fuel as well (as having oil injection), boost the overall oil intake into the engine, and if you do get a pump problem on the road then your engine gets at least some oil and doesn't blow up! Maybe add 1:200 oil:fuel? Belt-and-braces.
@@ChrisMacdonald-ns8rx cable operated pumps do work with the blips of throttle , there is always a possiblity of the pump failing due to a loose tube or something but i think the chance is too small to alter the bike for it. i would however add oil to the gas in the tank to prevent rust

It happens, I think it is due for a new top end. Maybe just the rings. We'll see! Ah! the joy of 2-strokes.
@@ChrisMacdonald-ns8rx I believe in mineral based 2 stroke oil it’s been tested and showed that there is a power decrease and a wear rate increase when a full synthetic oil is used. 2 stroke oil does prevent corrosion definitely that’s why old Italian 2 strokes always have good tanks due to the oil in the gas tank the Japanese bikes with the injection suffer from the ethanol and tend to rust when sitting over a long time. As to your specific case I wouldn’t be comfortable as to give the blame to the oil as I don’t know how you prepped the cylinder and piston.
I had ridden 50cc 2 stroke bikes for the first 3-4 years of my motorcycle riding. By far my favourite was my Aprilia Red rose which is a cute little cruiser. I rode that thing everywhere and surprisingly I didn't have too much issues with it apart from having to stop to let the coolant come down in temperature on the side of the rode a couple of times when I rode it a little too hard.
I remember seeing one of those a couple months ago while riding my classic Vespa! Its definitely weird hearing a high revving two stroke and then seeing the kind of bike you'd last expect to hear that sound from!
From what I've heard it really helps to change out the reed valve for a Tassinari carbon one if you want a little more responsive throttle on the lower rpm's.
I had a few rs125's various different years from the rotax 123 to the rotax 122 engines. I never really had any major issues with them bar one. Where the flywheel cracked that was worse problem i had. Made the bike run rough at certain rpm but once power valve was open it went fine. Took a while to get to the bottom of that one. I absolutely love these bikes :-)
loving the 2 stroke content. my oil pump stopped working while i was doing 80mph in a business suit on one of these. last time i was not in full leathers as it scared the shit out of me the back end seizing at that speed. amazing little bikes though and ok i've not been on one since i was 19 (i'm 51 now) but i just remember wringing it's neck to get as much GO out of it and how flickable it was in the corners, was the first bike i got my knee down on and it was so easy to do it, the bike just wanted to lean. but anyway, thanks for the RS125 content, i've been hoping someone would make a good video about on, there's very little out there about these bikes or at least very little that's actually entertaining.
When I was 14 I had the Yamaha TZR50, my frien had the Aprilia RS50 and I found it too fat ass for my taste then. The Aprilia RS 250, that was the dream bike for me!, It was beautiful
@@JP-xd6fm yeah the RS 250 was an amazing machine, I started on a Kawasaki AR50, with a micron race exhaust, I fell off it the first day I had it 😂 loved that little 50 tho.
@@karlj1717I never saw that little Kawa in my country. In the late 90s early 2000s the most popular little bikes was: Yamaha jog 50 (mopped), Honda SFX 50(mopped), Piagio Vespino, Derbi variant( that little thing was very moddable even reaching top speeds of 140 km/h). Then with gears like the Yamaha TZR50, Honda NSR50, Aprilia RS50, Cagiva MIto 50, Rieju RS1 and then dirt bikes like Derbi Senda and alike... When I was a kid the 2Strokes where at it's peak, many of us had replaced the cylinder to 80cc instead of the original 50cc with bigger carburators etc
I have a (by now) 20+ year old rsv mille. Awesome motorcycle, i absolutely love the way it looks and drives. Before the rsv mille Aprilia only made 2 strokes which shows in the handling of the rsv mille. Also the engine is from Rotax and tends to be quite reliable if it was maintained properly.
Yeah, internet is full of rubbish and stereotypes. Any bike will break down when maintenance is bad. I had only italian cars and bikes in my whole life except my first bike which was an rd350lc 31k (49 now) and never ever broke down or having any hard issues, while familymembers with french, japanese and mostly german cars did! But I do maintenance on my cars and bikes myself and with care... If anything just suspicious it needs to be addressed, not just leaving the time bombs ticking... Owning a car or bike doesn't mean just driving/riding it.
I had one, the power valve is very soft and gums up easily. A good clean and decarbon every couple of months is advisable to keep it free. Be gentle with it. The metal is very soft. I put a 150 polini top end on it after it blew up at 35000 due to a failed small end bearing. Added some low end torque and a tiny bit up top. Great handling bike. Never had a problem with the oil pump, most guys let it run out and then don't prime it well to get it pumping again. Silly. Rear shock is shit. Feed it decent oil and do the rings and small end at the schedule and it'll keep going, not a hard job to do.
Great content, as an older rider and bought up with castrol 2 stroke in my veins it’s just magic to see a young man experience the highs and lows of an Italian oil burner, teaches you a lot about life. Next get yourself an RGV250.
You know what man, a rs125 was my first road bike and I loved it!! Currently have an r1 big bang, Harley sportster and a bandit 600 and I’m really tempted to get rid of the bandit for a rs125 as a winter project!
Another great video!.... to anyone reading this, don't engine brake a little 2 stroke (use your rear brake!!) Just a tip from someone who rides a 75kg 2001 RS50 with around 30hp... top speed is unknown, the clock only goes to 100mph and the engine continues to rev in 6th for another 3000rpm
@freddieboi3608 Actually it goes past 100mph but the RS50 clock only goes to 100mph,.. so it does 100 and something mph lol... The spec sheet for my bike is huge.. and expensive lol its done about 1500miles on the most recent engine I built.
Ah dude you're reliving my rs50 days for me. In the last video you skipped school and now a busted starter motor. Mine was intermittent at best but it was so easy to bump start I didn't care. (Plus you bump start race bikes so....)
I have the 2009 (new shape) version here in Canada. The power valve on these is a pain in the neck, and the whole bike is a bit of a Rube Goldberg contraption in terms of maintenance access. It is a ton of fun on a small track though, so much lighter and more fun than a modern 250 4-stroke. I wish it had a little bit more jam to better keep up with the 390s and Ninja 400s that are very common on the track. Yours sounds like its running pretty good, they'll do about 155-160km/h indicated (maybe 150 true depending on rider size) at full power so that's a good indication if yours is running right.
I ride a 32 year old Suzuki RG125FN. I run premix and it's not a big a ballache as you make out... I measure 320ml into a used, dry 500ml water bottle and keep it under my pillion seat. When I hit reserve I know it's 10litres to fill it again; 32:1. Put the oil in the tank, add 10 litres of fuel at pressure and it mixes it, quick rock on the suspension, a sideways shaky shaky and jobs a good'un. Empty bottle goes in the bin. You are right about over oiling, if I'm sat in traffic, using low revs it can splutter some oil out of the exhaust but just use the revs and clear it out and in true 2 stroke fashion! I just couldn't trust a 32 yr old pump to be reliable!
love seeing you living the dream bruh, i did had one of these when i was 17, numerous problems, from powervalve to overhauling the clutch, from oil pump to cable snapping, everytime something broke, but it teached me a lot of things, i suggest from the videos to try and engine brake less, the piston's very fragile on braking due to not get lubricated and is also a ton of money, keep up the good work 🫶🏼
I’m glad you didn’t go premix. You didn’t mention it but the carburetor is jetted to flow gas. Not gas and oil. If the pumps work I never like to see an injection system deleted.
in italy it's very popular for people to buy a pneumatic exhaust valve for that motor, made by companies like italkit and NRteam. It's simpler, more reliable, it allows for more customization and gives you a better performance overall. the only drawback is that it needs a hole to be drilled on the exhaust port outside the cylinder, but it shouldn't be too hard if you follow the instructions
Another good reason to keep the oil pump system is the fact that ethanol and 2 stroke oil don't mix properly. If you premix, the oil will sit on the ethanol(E10) and this results in startups without any oil. If using premix, allways wobble the bike to mix the fuel before cold starting.
Ethanol and mineral oil do not mix. It will fall out of suspension. You must use castor oil to mix with ethanol. Castor only falls out of suspension in extreme cold.
I rode one of those, thoroughly enjoyed it(coming from a 1000cc) but the best, ever was the RS 250 ! What a ride !! 2Strokes are what they are. A bit of attention but such fun !
I HAD A SIMILAR STARTER ISSUE THIS WEDNESDAY! I've had these problems with starters before: Starter collects water (my fault, bought it with missing starter screws) Battery terminal got rusted (Yes, this stupid and after 5 hours of work and finally realising I could use a multimeter i found it)
Hello, If you push the starter button and can't hear anything it means that the power isn't getting to the starter relay. I pretty much bet that there is corrosion on the contact surface of the starter button. I had the same thing on my gixer. Tested everything from wiring to starter solenoid only to find out it was the damn button :D
I have the exact model and color as yours, today my brake caliper came off whilst braking as the front hose with the brake fluid exploded under pressure. Thank God I was able to still stop the bike 😂
I think the issue with your bike not starting has to do with the side stand indicator light. I removed it from my bike after getting stuck. Also my power valve broke and now the bike has no more power at the bottom but it pulls harder than before. I wanted to buy a new power valve but they are over 5k and you must import them which sucks
I'd love another old Aprilia but I don't have the space for yet another bike at the moment. I owned a 2001 model RS125 in 2004 as a 17 year old. Great reliable little bike... for two weeks. Then it needed a £1000 rebuild. It only had 8000 miles from new. I still loved it though. I've only had 4 strokes since. One day I'll get another Aprilia.
Hello from NYC Justin. It doesn't matter what you ride as long as it's your Ride. 30 years GO I married into a family that rode nothing but Harleys. "IF it isn't a Harley it its a real motorcycle !". Well when I rode up on my 1999 Honda Shadow 759 ACE Custom deluxe. That laughed. When they found out I paid 5500 dollars for a bike that had more chrome, that started Everyday, that didn't leak any fluids theY ALL CRIED!! I TRULY ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS AT 60!. I recently returned to riding and bought a 2016 Tiger 800Xr. I love this bike. It blows me back onto the pinion with every T.W.O. 😊
You should have cleaned the power valve when you had it out. Clean the carbon off with a wire wheel brush on a drill. Here in Canada we still ride 2 stroke snowmobiles and cleaning the carbon off the PV's is regular maintenance.
I just "Liked & Subed"... Im restoring my Girlfriends RS125 at the moment. Its a 97 model and an "SP" version.. Its been left to rot for quite a few years after her local garage broke it and denied any blame.. The wiring loom has been the worse thing, It seems to have rotted away from the inside.. The engine is having the lot done to it.. 140cc barrel, new bearings etc.. Then im going to make an expansion chamber to match the porting.. That's after i finish fiddling with my Firestorm and get my health back on track again!! I have (at the last count!) 18 Bikes... ive restored about 4 or 5 of them so far.. (can't remember)...(Diabetes is crap!)..lol.! Looking forward to your future vids.. Thanks mate..
Id kill to get my hands on one of these or a 250 here in Canada. I have a 1976 RD400 that I spent 6 months rebuilding EVERYTHING and put it all back to stock. Its pretty reliable but smokes like a B when Im sitting at lights or needing to full throttle it going on steep inclines. Thats really the only thing that annoys me.
I would love to experience to own an Aprillia or Cagiva Mito sp 405. I lean towards the Cagiva mito for it's uniquesness but for Aprillia i could get parts easier and they are better known. But Cagiva Mito would be to me a bike that I would keep. Because it's italian, not really well known and it's a 2t. The Aprillia fully unrestriced is 30hp, the Cagiva Mito is little over 30hp to my knowledge, some where 31-33hp. To Aprillia Cagiva has a big leap what i have seen in person to the small details. I ones saw a Cagiva sp 405, I stood there for like 20+ minutes. I just fell in love with the small details. I like Cagiva Mito more than the Aprillia, but the Aprillia also looks great.
Power differences are tiny, and the difference between models of each bike are WAY bigger than the difference between each on (ie, RS125 over the years had 3 different carbs, 2 different engines and exhausts that went from very good to awful - the Mito als used 3 different carbs, the early 7 speed and later 6 speed engines, with a significant number of different barrels, and various exhausts)
I have an Aprilia rs 125 2006, the updated fairings but still the rotax 122 engine like in yours. your problem might not be starter motor, it might be because you had the kick stand down and in gear, i cant tell if you where in neutral or not. Even if the bike is in gear and with the stand down it wont crank over. Hope this helps.
my little brother has one of these. Actually the model after that. I rode it till 160km/h and I'm 6ft 3 85kg. I'm too big to enjoy riding the Aprilia but my brother is smaller and has a lot of fun. For me it is really a pain. I would have to change the clip-on plate and the clutch and brake lever to have a more comfortable position for my arms and hands. But in that case my brother would not fit in
😂.. this was great! That's a cool bike man. You reminded me of some of the headaches My 1st bike was a Suzuki TM100. Dirt bike. Given to me by friends of the family. I never knew it had an oil pump and premixed it the whole time. And had to carry a quart of premix with me everywhere. Good tines! Love that sound!!
dude i started riding the exact model just about when you made the first video about yours. Yesterday i had the same issue of wanting to go home but the starter didn't do shit. About an hour ago i went to check it and it magically fixed itself.
I'm rebuilding a aprilia sx 125 2009 2t ATM just fitted wheel bearings, one step closer getting a mitaka 140cc and 34mm carb set up can't wait until she's ready still a long way off. I've own the mx 125 the pain of owning the rarer models , the parts are hard to get. The aprilia love it (pain, love, depression, joy)😂

I bought a Suzuki RGV250 20 years ago. It was converted to a track bike, which was premix, it was frustrating, but I've enjoyed rebuilding the engine all 5 times! Luckily it shares the same engine a the Aprilia RS250 and aftermarket parts are easily available. I can't ever see myself letting her go...
Nice video, it made me realize how happy I am that I never sold my first bike! (2t RS125 Tetsuya Harade) Fixing problems with an Italian two stroke is indeed a neverending story!
6:34 To my knowledge the oil pump is purely mecanical and the only variable is the throttle cable, so it injects very lilttle oil when the throttle is closed. I wouldn't recommend engine braking at all.
I have one of these, i was like you, saying the oil dispenser is a good thing, but still, maintained correctly it failed and took a fresh engine with it barely 6K km on it. Rn im running premix and i won’t go back ever again, stock jetting is usually bad anyway, rejetting a 2 stroke is something you have to do when you change anything in the intake system anyway.
@@ChaosCauses yeah no..last time I rode a 125 like that I ended up spending 6 weeks in Addington. Was a long time ago. Haven’t learnt much since..ride my Duke 390 a bit like that. In my defence she just wants to run. And she’s pretty.
still have my 2013 zx150. so fun to ride. same as yours, sometimes they suddenly has a ton of issue at once 😅 but all of that paid when you ride it again.
Seems about right for an Aprilia. The gaskets ain't that bad depending on your country, I guess. Yes the power valve does need cleaning every so often and yours looked like it was needed tbh. Also with the starter motor. The relay can be kinda questionable. If it just makes a clicking noise. It's most likely the relay.
I have an Italian 125 2-stroke too, but it has a Yamaha engine in and has been reliable for me so far ... hoping it stays that way, fingers crossed. 2-stroke 125cc are amazing because they are such a pure form of sports motorcycle, lightweight single cylinder that flick from side to side and around corners but still keep up with most anything else on roads (when running right). FWIW, on your power valve check, I'd suggest you check the cable adjustments (more cables to go wrong!). You may have unintentionally adjusted the cables for the better when you removed it (as well as loosening up the spooge on it). On Yamaha YPVS, which is a rotary valve system, small changes to the control cable adjustments can make a relatively big difference, so worth making sure it is adjusted, and TBH worth trying a few tweaks either side of standard position to see if that improves things on actual rides, as changes to exhaust pipe and rejetting will change the exhaust pulse phasing. The Yamaha engine is nice because it is already homologated to be derestricted (restricted simply limits the power valve, derestricting allows full power valve opening). Aprilia needs hacking to derestrict, isn't road-legal after hacking (according to Aprilia's own workshop manual) and results can vary, depend on the skill of the hacker. I think bodged derestricting adds to RS125's reliability reputation.
They make SO MUCH more sense on track, take it on a track day and you'll fall in love. They just feel so right and it's the bike that made me fall in love with riding, track time on a race prepped rs125. Thankfully parts are really easy to find because the motor is the centre of a lot of go kart motors. Derestricred and in the 33bhp trim They are amazing, I love the lunatic full power bike
My most favorite 2T( the engine lubricant) was Duckhams(fully synthetic) the smoke smells kinda bad but i love it, as its a branded racing oil(last time)
I have rs aswell, I also had 2 snaped clutch cables, my oilpump broke aswell. And mine has a dead powervalve. So you have to shift alot to avoid 6krpms😂

Its funny to see how that bike was lusted after by many 16 year olds around the globe. Back in the day i couldn't afford one and didn't have the licence for it, but oh boy did i wanted to own one of these. When i got my big bike licence two years ago i've scrolled past a few of rs 125s and thought "wouldn't it be awesome to own one now?".. i guess you showed that it is possible but maybe not the best idea to do lol Still enjoying your trip down memory lane with this one mate, stay safe
Power valve need to be adjusted . You can do it by adjusting the cable on the solenoid side . Next to the solenoid should be a sticker thet show the correct position
my son had the same issue on his Aprilia, a 2011 model, even if the bike is in neutral if no green neutral light is showing it wont start, i traced it to a loose wire on the neutral sensor, im sure its offside middle of the motorcycle, behind the rear brake pedal, a single wire pushed onto a round sensor pin, so crimped it and a good connection now and it hasnt done it since
I had a Cagiva Planet 125 which was like the Ducati Monster version of the Cagiva Mito. I loved that thing but it went through batteries so it spent most of its life being bump started. Luckily 125 2 strokes are the easiest thing to bump start.
I just sold mine, absolutely hated the thing - It was modded to be a 140cc but there was so much about it that I didn't like, almost every ride I took out on it was a gamble on making it back home, the starter motor, radiator, engine all failed multiple times even before it was modded, I ended up part exchanging it for a brand new UM DSR EX 125 and I absolutely love it, makes more sense for the countryside, dirt roads around where I live too. Note : The oil reservoir on these things are extremely dangerous to use, they work for a while, stop working then work again the next day, they mix the ratio wrongly half the time and it was suggested by every mechanic I spoke to, not to use it at all despite spending hundreds on replacement parts to get it working properly, I was told that even if it was brand new from the factory you would still be risking a lot by using it and that's why the majority of 2t don't have these reservoirs.
You can get most parts for these in the uk from a place called pjme i do belive they will ship world wide also would love to see this against the slighlty quicker cagiva mito or even planet
Hey, nice bike and great video 👍 these Rotax motors aren’t known for their bottom end torque but it would be wise of you to check/replace the rings. The usual first symptom is hesitation before the powerband or a general gutless feeling down low. Poor cold starting too. Any new 2t bike purchase I usually pop a new piston/rings in and check the bore for scoring. Given the grief of keeping one on the road you want 100% of the performance advantages when it is running 😂. Also I hear great things re big bore kits. Something in the 140’s range. Best of luck
I just bought an rs 125 2011 model and had many problems but nevertheless i still love it and could not have made a better purchase. Im 18 btw so yes im the cool kid around town🥰
Knowing what you know and not giving a bit of preventative maintenance to the oil pump cable is a bit silly, isn't it ? ;) I've had my '97 lose power for no reason, and gain it back the same way after sitting on the sideline. Some say it's a starter engine relay, I guess a fuse wouldn't be out of the question. My mechanic seemed to use the gas tap as a makeshift carburation setting, and beware that too lean when it's cold (because there's more air) is a recipe to seize. Please also note that my manual said to get API TC ++ oil, and I only could ever get API TC + oil, which probably didn't help my seizing problems.
3:48 Wait a second you’re using a Amazon/China knock off makita impact wrench AND a knock off makita battery? 😂 or did they come together? Which “brand” is it? Any issues yet?
Had the oil pump running On my rx 135 and i could pull up full throttle to a signal, smoking like crazy and stop with close to no smoke... The bikes running premix are constantly smoky
I had 2 125TS series Suzuki in the 70's. Absolutely indestructible and reliable. Absolutely ZERO torque at low RPM...low meaning under 6/7000. A friend of mine, though an experienced big bike rider, asked if he could borrow it for a short ride. I gave him the key absolutely confident in his ability to ride my small dirt bike. 15 min later he was back : he was unable to have it star. "It constantly dies"...and I had to show him how to start : Kick the engine on Clutch First gear Full throttle until it reach 7000 Release the clutch slowly, keep it slipping so the RPM don't drop. When the bike is fast enough to rev over 7000, fully release the clutch When RPM reach 11000 shift ...with just enough throttle closed to avoid the transmission blocking... He was 😮

One of my next door neightbours has 125cc and I like the oddity of it. I do wonder how it is to ride when fully unlocked.
Very rare bikes
From what I've heard it really helps to change out the reed valve for a Tassinari carbon one if you want a little more responsive throttle on the lower rpm's.
I haven't heard of that yet. On what website could I order the Carbon reed valve? (Eu)
You definitely need to give the RS250 a try them things are rocket ships
PJME in the UK are a great source for parts. Good service and range of parts. I've had my RS125 for about 7 years. I might finish it soon!
DO IT !
Do ittttt
Another great video!.... to anyone reading this, don't engine brake a little 2 stroke (use your rear brake!!)
Just a tip from someone who rides a 75kg 2001 RS50 with around 30hp... top speed is unknown, the clock only goes to 100mph and the engine continues to rev in 6th for another 3000rpm
RS50 owner here! 100mph though?
@@freddieparrydrums the am6 motor with a bidalot kit will do excess of 100mph
@@mohba01 Might look into doing that, doubt it'll last long though
@@freddieparrydrums it's a single ring piston, it's not meant to last, it's meant to go fast.
@freddieboi3608
Actually it goes past 100mph but the RS50 clock only goes to 100mph,.. so it does 100 and something mph lol...
The spec sheet for my bike is huge.. and expensive lol its done about 1500miles on the most recent engine I built.
The nsr125 is also a legend, maybe check that one out next? Or maybe an rs250
You dont have to own the latest flavor, to tell a good story!
Ah dude you're reliving my rs50 days for me. In the last video you skipped school and now a busted starter motor. Mine was intermittent at best but it was so easy to bump start I didn't care. (Plus you bump start race bikes so....)
RS50 gang
I have a 125 aprillia(a classic not rs125 tho) and i love the rotax 122 motor in there
You can try a new sparkplug for more power, 2stokes like to eat them like McDonald’s. Made a big difference for me when i was troubleshooting
Damn, my unrestricted '97 went past 180 indicated without a sign of slowing down.
I just couldn't trust a 32 yr old pump to be reliable!
love seeing you living the dream bruh, i did had one of these when i was 17, numerous problems, from powervalve to overhauling the clutch, from oil pump to cable snapping, everytime something broke, but it teached me a lot of things, i suggest from the videos to try and engine brake less, the piston's very fragile on braking due to not get lubricated and is also a ton of money, keep up the good work 🫶🏼
My old 1987 70hp johnson outboard had a crazy powerband, would be nothing nothing, almost struggling then bang just feels like it would holeshot lol
It's simpler, more reliable, it allows for more customization and gives you a better performance overall. the only drawback is that it needs a hole to be drilled on the exhaust port outside the cylinder, but it shouldn't be too hard if you follow the instructions
and there I thought the pneumatic valves were the inferior ones
5:38 I don't think it could be useful on all bikes, my 2 stroke only smokes when It's cold, after it heated up it doesn't
Castor only falls out of suspension in extreme cold.
i have aprilia af1 125cc with rotax 123 2stroke engine and i can relate to this video - i like this bike
I've had these problems with starters before:
Starter collects water (my fault, bought it with missing starter screws)
Battery terminal got rusted (Yes, this stupid and after 5 hours of work and finally realising I could use a multimeter i found it)
The memories this video brought back to me 😍 I should buy another
Hello, If you push the starter button and can't hear anything it means that the power isn't getting to the starter relay. I pretty much bet that there is corrosion on the contact surface of the starter button. I had the same thing on my gixer. Tested everything from wiring to starter solenoid only to find out it was the damn button :D
10:15 that stroking the tank haha we've all done it
I've got a honda cr125 that I plan to make a supermoto and get another for dirtbike use. Those 125s are fun yours look so good
I have the exact model and color as yours, today my brake caliper came off whilst braking as the front hose with the brake fluid exploded under pressure.
Sounds like you need to experience the love of a rs 250 much quicker more expensive and less reliable
I had an RS250 - it was an absolute beauty, and was heaven.
You should have cleaned the power valve when you had it out. Clean the carbon off with a wire wheel brush on a drill. Here in Canada we still ride 2 stroke snowmobiles and cleaning the carbon off the PV's is regular maintenance.
I used to have a Yamaha RZ350 and a Yamaha TDR250 back in the 90's. I wish I still had them. They were so much fun!
Love the small two strokes!! and big ones even more!!
Man seeing you ride that bike at the end like that.... I would love to experience that
dude i started riding the exact model just about when you made the first video about yours. Yesterday i had the same issue of wanting to go home but the starter didn't do shit. About an hour ago i went to check it and it magically fixed itself.
Friend had one. It had a bigger bore and maybe different power valve. I don't remember exactly. But that thing was fast. And the sounds it made...
Love videos on older bikes I was brought up around older race bikes n owned /rode a rd350lc on track when I was 18 always prefer smaller cc to the big 1000cc you can ride them to your ability
(2t RS125 Tetsuya Harade)
Fixing problems with an Italian two stroke is indeed a neverending story!
Dude rides like I do..balls to the wall. 😂
Only way to ride a 125!
@@ChaosCauses yeah no..last time I rode a 125 like that I ended up spending 6 weeks in Addington.
Was a long time ago.
Haven’t learnt much since..ride my Duke 390 a bit like that.
In my defence she just wants to run. And she’s pretty.
I love that you ride anything and love something about each bike.😊
still have my 2013 zx150. so fun to ride. same as yours, sometimes they suddenly has a ton of issue at once 😅
but all of that paid when you ride it again.
You can lock the steering on these you just need to twist the handle hard left
My DTR 125 still runs with 50.000 km, almost never had Problems. I also use the Oil Pump
It’s not Italian that’s why
I think bodged derestricting adds to RS125's reliability reputation.
honestly this makes me so grateful i went with a yamaha DT125R
They make SO MUCH more sense on track, take it on a track day and you'll fall in love.
They just feel so right and it's the bike that made me fall in love with riding, track time on a race prepped rs125.
Thankfully parts are really easy to find because the motor is the centre of a lot of go kart motors.
Derestricred and in the 33bhp trim They are amazing, I love the lunatic full power bike
I have an Italian 2 stroke, bullet proof. 1978 vespa p125x. Premix. Don't need to carry a large oil canister, just a small one
My opinion, keep it and do a whole race bike series on building it, probably not the most financially best option but it would be great
I'm loving this little Aprilia. Keep them coming.
I bought a Yamaha 2stroke 125 A7 from 1975. I brought it home by riding with it. The trip em was 315k, she made 140k, not bad! I loved to ride it
I had a Honda NSR-250 two stroke dual cilinder. it was a lightning, so fast that you get scared, but a lovely bike.
So you have to shift alot to avoid 6krpms😂
its not the oil dispenser that fails, they can last up to 70kkm. its the oil filter that clogs up and doesnt provide oil for the pump
Love watching your vids because I love bikes but also because I used to live in SA and it's cool to watch you ride the exact same roads i used to ride on my Husky SM 125 :)
Very good in film making!!
Im missing my FSX150 from 22years ago
Its funny to see how that bike was lusted after by many 16 year olds around the globe. Back in the day i couldn't afford one and didn't have the licence for it, but oh boy did i wanted to own one of these.
When i got my big bike licence two years ago i've scrolled past a few of rs 125s and thought "wouldn't it be awesome to own one now?".. i guess you showed that it is possible but maybe not the best idea to do lol
Still enjoying your trip down memory lane with this one mate, stay safe
The Oil Pump is knowing for work very well. I will never understand why people disassamble the oil pump 🤷🏼♂️
I want one of these to restore and have it for fun next to my tuono v4😊
Power valve need to be adjusted . You can do it by adjusting the cable on the solenoid side . Next to the solenoid should be a sticker thet show the correct position
my son had the same issue on his Aprilia, a 2011 model, even if the bike is in neutral if no green neutral light is showing it wont start, i traced it to a loose wire on the neutral sensor, im sure its offside middle of the motorcycle, behind the rear brake pedal, a single wire pushed onto a round sensor pin, so crimped it and a good connection now and it hasnt done it since
Just double checked and the sensor switch in directly below the front sprocket
I drived a rsaprila 250cc when I was 16. A dream on two wheels.
Watching this vid is a flashback to my multiple rs125’s 😂
Everything you have experienced so far is normal for an rs 😂😂
Also, your bogging alot:
You can get most parts for these in the uk from a place called pjme i do belive they will ship world wide also would love to see this against the slighlty quicker cagiva mito or even planet
This is my dream bike and im 16…. So i bought one and i love it. Cant wait to ride
Quality content as always man
Hey, nice bike and great video 👍 these Rotax motors aren’t known for their bottom end torque but it would be wise of you to check/replace the rings.
A guy that comes into my work rides in on a 88 yamaha rz350 and its a cool bike. I love 2strokes and always wanted a 2stroke streetbike
I just bought an rs 125 2011 model and had many problems but nevertheless i still love it and could not have made a better purchase. Im 18 btw so yes im the cool kid around town🥰
My first bike was a 2008 Aprilia RS125, this video is the most relatable thing ever
I have a 2005 Aprilia Tuono 125.
It breaks every 5 seconds, but for the other 5 it is an absolute hoot to ride 🤣
Knowing what you know and not giving a bit of preventative maintenance to the oil pump cable is a bit silly, isn't it ? ;)
I've had my '97 lose power for no reason, and gain it back the same way after sitting on the sideline.
Any issues yet?
how did you lean the bike that much and keep it like this? awesome video homie🤙
Had the oil pump running On my rx 135 and i could pull up full throttle to a signal, smoking like crazy and stop with close to no smoke... The bikes running premix are constantly smoky
What i would do for a 10min pov of that beast! I own a two stroke 125 myself, but its nowere near this fast.
"It constantly dies"...and I had to show him how to start :
Kick the engine on
Clutch
First gear
Full throttle until it reach 7000
Release the clutch slowly, keep it slipping so the RPM don't drop.
When the bike is fast enough to rev over 7000, fully release the clutch
When RPM reach 11000 shift ...with just enough throttle closed to avoid the transmission blocking...
He was 😮
