Don't know what's different about my Punto 188 but with the suspension struts disconnected and the car raised and so the rear suspension arm dropped the springs sit so tight into the mountings that it was impossible to 'easily remove the springs without the need for spring compressors .......' I did try spring compressors on one side and struggled to get one off. In the end I used a small bottle jack between the end of the supension arm and the rear chassis member to make a sufficient gap to remove / replace the springs. Removal of the fittings from the end of the springs was also a challenge. The top rubber one was OK but the bottom plastic one kept binding on the corrosion high spots on the spring. Repeated chipping away at possible high spots and plenty of WD40 eventually worked after about 20 mins for one and 15 mins for the other. My Punto is 2004 and the suspension bolts were heavily corroded. Need a combination of WD40 and an induction heater to start the bolts moving. No joy with an impact wrench. Had to repeatedly loosen a bit / tighten a bit to remove them and stop the bolts binding completely. Once out, I used a 1.25 x M12 die to run up the threads to remove the excess rust. Refitting with copper grease was not then an issue. Probably an hour job took most of the afternoon which including multiple spring removal attempts and thinking time for workaround. The joys of car maintenance. Not even convinced there was anything majorly wrong with the old ones apart from surface corrosion but I was fed up with seeing advisories each year on the MOT. ...... Managed to pick up a pair of springs of eBay for £26 from a reliable auto parts seller I have ued many times.
Great how to just what I need. I have a question the plug attaching to my heater blower resistor just under the dash has melted, Its the one that takes the four flat pins mine is a 2004 3 door 1.2 active. although i can find the resistor to buy i cannot find a plug. any ideas?
It’s very hard to get this wiring, the best suggestion is try and get something from a scrapped car of which there are plenty about now, look you scrap yards in your area
First , im so happy you are back and posting great new videos Second , i want to know how to change tha fog light bulb in this car (fiat punto mk2 " classic" 2005 )

Hi! I bought a set of used original springs for a MK2B Sporting 1.4 2004. (I hope so). Springs have markings on them: 2 yellow and 1 pink on the front and 2 yellow and 2 pink on the rear. Does anyone know if they are the correct springs ?
You say the rear suspension is different on a Fiat grande punto ?? Is it still a similar process a just as easy to change the rear springs on a Fiat grande punto 57 reg please?
The process is likely very similar, I must admit I’ve not looked at it on the grande, I know the rear shock absorbers are completely different in the way the mount at the top but you may still be able to undo them the same way from the bottom

Often there isn’t anything wrong aside from surface corrosion, strange you struggled so much

Awesome job, great diy videos, well done !!!
Thanks for your support !
I have Ford KA MK2 (Same as Fiat 500), you've shown a really quick short cut to replace springs when compared with other videos :)
Thanks for the comment, this simple type of rear suspension is used on a lot of cars and is very easy to work on.

ok, you need to get under the front bumper and remove the bulb from the back, sadly don't have a mk2 anymore so can't show you on video.
PuntoHowto ok thank u 🙌🏻

Is this the same process as the same era Fiat Panda? (2004 1.1 active)
Yes the suspension is a similar design so you shouldn’t find much different
Hi
looks like the shock absorber bolts are new. if i need new bolts where do i buy them or what should i search for? dimensions?
I always buy them from fiat, expensive for a couple of bolts but then you’ll always get the exact correct part for the job
Omg where did you get that die cast Punto from?!
Mostly eBay
really helpful video nicely done
Thanks, thanks for watching thanks for letting me know it was helpful 👍
is this the same for fiat grande punto great vid
Similar but the rear suspension on the grande is very different by design
How much they cost ?
It was a long time ago now but at that time they were about £15 each
Very good video 👌👍
Thanks 😀
Hi I need to do this on my car,
Can you tell me where you put the jack I can't see on the video Thank you
Where the rear suspension beam bolts to the car is about the strongest point to jack from at the back of the car
@@PuntoHowto Thank you I will give it a go
Thank you very much sir, I'm doing this job today, finished the front yesterday 😊
