You can’t beat old school gangsters. I met Ronnie when I was working undercover. Not on the Charley Kray job but a bank Job he and others were planning. Ronnie and his mates were proper Gents and good company. I will buy his book. Joey Pyle was a legend around Carshalton and Sutton. Good luck for the future. Another great interview James xx
Proper gentleman, proper gangster...not like these modern 'gangsters' who go around calling each 'fam' and 'blud' and carry 'zombie knives' down their trousers, nothing more than cowards..!!
Absolutely loved watching this interview, could listen to Ron all day dropping all those big names seeing his eyes light up remembering core memories..what a chap and still looking sharp, definitely lost a bloody good generation of well dressed gentleman that's for sure!
I would love to go on 1 of these pod casts, I'm a no one, not famous or f all, but I've got some great stories about my life, from late 80s as a kid, 90s as a teenager 00s in my 20s, volience, addiction, parenthood, from a council estate, up to date real stuff, james give me a go bud you would love it, 100% would need min of 2hrs, you defo would relate and your followers would love it, proper council estate life, proper ppl, massive family 1 of 8, how life really was growing up 80s 90s up to now.
Growing up in south east London when the whole community lived by the code of the east end was brilliant, shame we are a dying breed now, got little mugs on bikes snatching peoples phones. In the old days they would get a slap from the community.
Could listen to these old school gangsters talk all day about their hay day. I just find it so fascinating. Such a different time. Looking smart with the suit too! Another great episode!
Absolutely loving your channel James. I think it would be good if you put a pic of some of the guests when they were younger just to get a bit more background ❤I'd love to see what Ronnie looked like back in the day.😊
A true Gentleman thoroughly enjoyed this story of real life no BS it shows how bad things are with the lunatics running amok nowadays the likes of Ronnie Field would make great school teachers educating the young on having a moral compass, more of this James.
Done a bit in Leeds? Did Ronnie know Ray Callaghan AKA Harry O who also did safes and a lot more. The story that Roy Chubby Brown told about the true old villains from Leeds who blew the tree up as a joke was a real story, he was one of the old villains and it was him who got the gelly to blow up the tree. He told me the true story which was even better than Chubby's version and no wonder he was half deaf. He was a villain since the war years and was well-known, a real character and was a really good close friend of mine. RIP auld Ray as we called him and very well respected.
Really enjoyed this proper old school gentleman 👍 When gansters were real not like todays lot running round stabbing people over nothing ! Not many left now thats for sharing your story 👍
Interesting listening to Ronnie. Really nice man no bull , no boasting, I’m definitely gonna read his book . Met a guy one time told me he was the biggest gangster in London , thought he was lying back then , now I know 💯 he was lying 😂.How Ronnie says he thought his book wouldn’t be interesting says it all for me . I wish him years of happiness and peace and wonga😂 Good luck Sir 😘
Added enjoyment for me this one - Ronnie's from my neck of the woods and I drink in some of those pubs today. As soon as he said "Tescos in Sutton" I was like WTF 😂
Old School at its best 🏴💙✊Respect and if only some of the viewers, Could actually walk in some of these men’s shoes for 24 hours ✊I think they would be in for an eye opening experience in life 💯👌Another Classic from Jame English 💙Been my privilege to watch you grow brother 🙏you have came so far, Well done 👍 GTC
Can't help but like my fellow South Londoner.I like his humour and his wise chuckles. Don't agree that 99% of Men want to be gangsters even though I grew up next to the largest Council Estate in Northern Europe at the time and yet in my 29 years there and 41 further years,11 miles away,I me or my Grammar Schools mates and most Men I have met in my 70 years have no desire at all to get involved however fascinating we found it. There does appear a common theme where there has been abuse in their childhood or from a chaotic background. I would love to chat and listen to him while walking my 6 dogs:)
People pretended they were nuts to get there thinking they would shorten their sentence. You should do an interview with Jon Ronson the author who wrote "The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry and also The Men Who Stare at Goats. I think he did other stuff too?
When I close my eyes I could be listening to Frankie Fraser, they sound so alike. He was very dangerous and unpredictable when he was young. I say that because as he said himself he stabbed his brother & sister with scissors for no reason despite the fact they’d always been good to him 😳
Can I take this man for dinner and a beer? Would love to spend time with him and advise me, although I'm not in his previous life, it's about resilience?
Coke/crack is like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. I Have sniffed an unbelievable amount over the years, mostly to stop myself from getting drunk as I was punting so much of it even though I never really liked it and cracked it and really never liked it at all. I could not take a sniff now, even if someone offered me a few grand just to take a line.
I was in jail with someone who had been sent to Carstairs before in his sentence. He told the screws he kept hearing voices. The screws had the governor and medical staff and so on thinking he was going nuts again. When they asked him what the voices were saying he replied "RECOUNT!". Referring to after getting out your cell for dinner they could never get the numbers right and you had to be dubbed up again whilst they did a recount. Am still pissing masself now thinking of it.

He must be a proper man , getting a rescue dog . I respect that.
He's from my area. Epsom, Cheam, Sutton. They don't make them like this anymore. Fantastic. Really enjoyed this james.
Nice listening to Ronnie, sad when you ask his generation what he thinks of the current state of the UK. Hopefully we can turn it round.
Great content and some funny stories and Ron never swore once.😅😊

Ronnie Field is the real deal.
Nothing plastic about Ronnie..
Its well documented that the krays where involved with rent boys and that whole lord boothby sickening scenario. Surely Ronnie would know about that.
They is a whole lot that came out about the krays.
