A important record for the band, without it I don't think they be the band they are today. It showed they weren't going to be a band that did the same thing over and over and would take chances with their sound. Without Humbug you wouldn't have got AM. Within the diehard fanbase many would put Humbug as their best album. For me it's definitely top 3, and it's b-sides during that era are some of the best in the bands canon. Every song is great on it.
Underrated Monkeys album. Am not there biggest fan today but up until AM I really liked them and there early change of direction. The Car and the album before aren't that good imo.

The Outro is just heavenly probably the best AM melody ever IMO.
this whole album is such a lyrical and musical masterpiece but 'fire and the thud' has been one of my favourite AM tunes since it came out
