Ls MT122 / MT125 tractor review and basics - How to use a tractor and loader for the first time!

  • We're trying out an LS Tractors MT 122 and LL1100 loader to move around some mulch and whatnot. This is going to be Anjum's first time really operating a tractor, so we'll see what kind of disaster will strike!
    We'll also give our thoughts on what it's like operating this cute little fella.
    Want this tractor or one like it? Send me a message at TownandCountryTractor.com I'd be happy to help!

      Definitely a great feature, but when you want a lot of compaction, manually pushing down the bucket will get your front tires off the ground, adding downforce. It's not pretty, but it's effective

  • @Papastomper

    Good video, just picked up the MT125. I like your instruction, subscribed. Just curious, what is your reason for the cardboard?

    • @HomesteadBandwagon
      @HomesteadBandwagon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @papastomper it's a great machine. I'm sure you'll like it! This property was buried in blackberries, so as we cut them down, we're laying out a couple layers of cardboard with wood chips on top. It does a pretty good job of smothering the blackberries and keeping them from getting any light. We punch holes through the cardboard so we can put in new plants, and the cardboard/woodchips store up rainwater, releasing it when it's hot out.

      We found that ferns are pretty difficult to smother. If we did a double layer of cardboard, it kept down most of em, but some still came through.

    • @HomesteadBandwagon
      @HomesteadBandwagon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not completely in love with using a tractor as a lawn mower, but some folks love them! I just see a bunch of mid mount mowers for sale that are advertised as being used "for only one season." Makes me wonder if they're just more of a pain in the butt than they're worth! What IS great about these machines is that they don't beat up your lawn and have a surprising amount of power for their size. Great for landscaping chores for sure

      We own a MT342, but borrow an MT1 from my work on occassion. Based on my customers' feedback, it's overall a very powerful machine for its size. We're not seeing an outsized number of failures on them, but the dealer you buy from is VERY important. You'll want to make sure that whoever you buy from has a full service department and that they check the machines fully before you take delivery. Our shop will spend a few hours with every machine to make sure everything is working correctly.

      My neighbor had nothing but trouble with his. Cracked front hubs twice, then the second repair had a leak the dealer couldn't fix. 350 hrs. Regen issues, jerky transmission. Parts took months to get. He owned it 3 years and only had about 1.5 years of use. The rest of the time it was in the shop.
      He pawned it and bought a Kubota like I told him to do in the first place.

      I’ve had a MT125 a couple years now. Bought it as a repo Super cheap. I knew it was possibly too small for everything I wanted to do but for the price I could not turn it down. I immediately fabricated a ballast box and highly recommend you acquire one as well. Beet juice for the rears soon. Extremely handy for small properties. Not 110% on Little Blue but for under 8k delivered and all in with loader/mower and new belt/covers I’m getting my money’s worth! I don’t use the deck, but it is available. The seat took a sun beating like no other I’ve. ever seen! I have “several” other tractors and it is too useful to sell IMO.
