- The PC Engine LT is one of the rarest versions of the PC Engine (Turbografx), released only in Japan. It's a semi-portable version of the console with a built-in screen and controls, and finding working examples of this console is extremely rare. This LT does not power on, so on this week's Fix it Friday we will restore it to working order!

Great work, really enjoyed watching your repair. Also glad you kept it original in this case.
Thanks, this was a fun project to finish! And I definitely agree, these things are so rare that it’s best to keep them original
Bro! You weren’t kidding when you said , it’s a lot of work fixing one of this! Damn! But I appreciated that very much ! Thxs bro!
As always killer video
Yeah dude, getting one of these repaired is a marathon! But I’m so glad to see it up and running again and looking amazing
@@LIRetroGaming awesome I never even heard of pc engine with screen besides turbo express great video
Holy crap! I knew it was a matter of time until you got your hands on one of these!
Oh yeah this was a fun one to restore! They are pretty hard to come across, I think that this is the fifth one that I have repaired to date
@@LIRetroGaming Wow! 5th! Would you say you enjoy servicing them vs other PC Engines? I’m sure the sense of satisfaction getting them going again must be epic. 😎
awesome I never even heard of pc engine with screen (besides turbo express) great video...this vid is like device archive
Thanks! Yes I do enjoy covering obscure stuff and documenting how to repair it
That’s amazing great job bro
Can't wait to see you at the Long Island expo
thats a lot of work youve got there, congrats
Thanks! Always good to see another one of these working again
@@LIRetroGaming indeed, great job youve done
I remember Beep in Akihabara had one of these for 250,000 yen or so years ago in their display case (it was recapped and working, at least), took them a while but they did sell it eventually. Not much use for it now, but would have loved to have it when I was a kid before I had my own TV, mostly played my Gameboy at home so a power cord wouldn't be a problem.
That’s amazing! I’ve never seen one of these in a store and it’s rare enough for them to be sent out to me for repair. I did the same thing as a kid, lots of gameboy gaming plugged into the wall!
Avec de l'iso cest impeccable !
You could put the name of the songs playing while you repair. I always try get the identified with Google, but it rarely works. THANKS, GREAT JOB! Friday is not Friday without fix it Friday! Abraço.
obrigado! Yes, I can add some more details for the music that I choose each week. This week the music came from Battle Garegga, one of the best shoot ‘em ups from the 90s
I didn't know this existed.
Yeah, it’s a pretty obscure version of the hardware. Definitely cool to see one if you get the chance
I am about to replace the caps in my og snes, and 1 chip-02 SFC, and I am curious about the surface mounted caps. I've seen a few videos of ppl just twisting them off, and a few videos calling this move obcerd. I have practiced this move on a couple of dead boards, and achieved pretty good results, only leaving the legs behind on a couple. However one did rip the pads out on the practice board, which caused concern. But when it did, I noticed I pulled up while I was twisting. I would assume this up force was the reason why the pads came up with the cap. My question is how much success have you had with this method? Desoldering all of those caps seems time consuming, but if I pull a pad up, I am going to be SOL lol.
Did you buy a capacitor kit for this specifically? Also if it was the regulators did you have a fix ready?
Yeah, I listed the capacitor kit in the description. The regulators are still modern parts that can be purchased on digikey or eBay
Damn I wish I could hold one in my hand though but sadly I doubt that will happen I never seen one of these in person.
We have one on display every year at the Long Island retro gaming expo
Would you be kind enough to share the type of power supply needed for this unit? I keep finding different things online and I need a charger for it. Please and Thank you!
I have used this power supply before. www.retrogamecave.com/product-page/pc-engine-lt-psu
Console5 might also have LT power supplies
@@LIRetroGaming thank you!
I am trying to find someone to fix my TurboGrafx 16 turbo express need recapped and screen mod
Yes I can help, you can reach me at 1uprestorations.com
I still seems funny to me to see SMT electrolytics removed by just twisting them, MattKC repaired a busted wii once and normally desoldered one and it ripped a pad and he jokingly tried twisting them off and it worked flawlessly.
Yeah there are some people who really object to twisting off the capacitors but I find it it’s very effective and faster than other methods
It’s really the best method hands down. I laugh every time seeing noobs hot air or desolder them.
I laugh every time seeing people desolder or even hot air them.
Is there a way to mod the screen for this device
Yes, the screen can be replaced with either the LCDDRV or the RGBDRV mod
@@LIRetroGaming When I see you this weekend we definitely have to talk I would like to do business with you
Hi. How do I contact you about repairing a console?
You can reach me at 1uprestorations.com
You can actually make them portable now.a seller from france is selling a cable so you can power this from a 5v powerbank.
I managed to get my LT unit repaired ithat i sent you.
Keith Courage on the pcenginefans forum done the repair.was the t500 transformer that was faulty.he bypassed that and put in a modern lcd which took its power from another area on the circuit board.
If you are interested i can send you a video of my LT working using a portable powerbank
That is fantastic! I’m so glad that yours got fixed. What was the problem? And yes I would love to see the power bank
@@LIRetroGaming
Like i said it was a faulty part on the power circuit that sends the power to the lcd screen.it’s impossible to get this part but there was a way to keep it alive by taking the power from another part of the board to a brand new modern lcd.you lose analogue tv functionality but i could live with that.
the same guy has just done the same repair on my duo monitor which is an extremely rare item aswell.
send me your email again and i will send you a small video of it working from a 5v powerbank
Oh fantastic! I’m really glad that he got it going again. I’ll send you an email to follow up
