Sir Clive Sinclair made something like this in the UK back in the 1980's/90's, and it was called the Sinclair Zeta. The public wasn't ready for that back then but maybe is now. Sir Clive Sinclair was years ahead of his time with several of his products.
in 1950 the Garelli brand in Italy produces "Motore zanzara" with exactly the same operating method as this one, but fueled by petrol, well done, nice reinterpretation in a modern perspective
there is a reson this concept isnt used more widely: it rubs on the front tire thus creating two friction point to transfer torque which is never a good thing
And the price. €600 is a pretty hefty sum for something I can double and buy a regular e-bike. Unless you just bought a new bike and really don't want to get another, I see absolutely no point in this.
I live in a very hilly area, so uphill assistance is the most important element for me, and this seems like it'd provide no torque whatsoever. And it only reacts to the bike already being in motion. Putting the bike in motion manually going uphill is exactly the thing I'm purchasing the product to avoid. Definitely not for me.
Agree it's brilliant. I actually made a similar device using a 250 watt hub drive skateboard motor. Control is by skateboard Bluetooth controller. So you don't need to pedal. I only have 4 Ah battery. What I would like to see is a mount you just clip the skateboard in and use as is.
The only pro I can see here is the ease of mount/dismount, but I'm not sure it is so much needed. Also passing torque to the outer part of the wheel will definitely make the tire worn out quickly and should become problematic in case of even minimal contamination. IMHO, we've got there a very niche product for a high price.
Bicycle tires are not expensive, at least not in Europe. I also do not think that tire slip would be a huge problem. And in case, we still need to pedal and therefore can move even with no motor. Also, for people who ride in any weather to work etc, they would rather buy a complete e-bike. This is a good product. I like it as I would need just a bit assistance sometimes for climbs etc. . Although I would prefer to have it on the rear wheel.
You guys know nothing. It works really good, very practical and easy to move to another bike if needed. Hardly any downsides really. And no, the tires does not wear out, don't lie.
That's really cool and I like the fact that it's wireless, making install clean and simple. It kinda reminds me of the old two stroke French mopeds in the 70's with the motor driving the front wheel. I wonder what would happen if you mounted one on the back wheel too. Two wheel drive!
In simplicity is beauty. No, I know it´s very delicate mechanism, but the idea how to turn bike into e-bike is easy this way! And very lightweight. I have e-bike, but classic one. On the plains this would be perfect, but we have here rather steep roads, so I would be a bit concerned about "rubber against rubber" traction between the motor and bike. But other than that, love it :)
He, he, new idea? OK, partly, but in Denmark they have had this setup for at least 75 years. Only difference is the change from petrol to electric. The danish name for the pertol vertion is ‚knallert‘, resembling the noise from a small 2-stroke engine.
As far as I know, the product is currently only being sold in Europe. If you are interested in purchasing the product outside of Europe, I recommend contacting the company directly at info@zipforce.se to see if they can assist you. Thank you.
Yep, it's a great kit for sure! I can't give you the exact pressure, but I was trying it out when it was barely working and kept going until it had a really good grip.
Hi, unfortunately I don't have this information. I haven't ridden in the rain, but going through some water puddles isn't a problem. I am still testing it btw ,, cheers
Love to get one of these as I travel a lot Internationally. Apparently the battery is small enough to take on a plane. And once at destination I can buy a good mountain bike for about $120 new enjoy riding a couple weeks, take the motor and mount off and give the bike away to someone that needs it. One thing though. I am in Costa Rica and we have throttle control and 1200 watts power and top speed of 56 KPH available. Also many is not most hills are 20 to 35% grade. One known to be 41%. So I prefer more power. But anything is better than walking. And I need the assist on uphill grades being 76 years old. Big turn off on rental bikes is that clause of paying $2000 if lost, stolen etc. I'm not about to pay $2000 for what at best is a $150 bike.
That'd be awesome for you, Sir! Not sure if you can snag it on planes, though. It's mostly sold in Europe, and they often have killer promo prices. I've had mine for a bit, and it's been rocking so far :)
Hey there, just watched your video on electric bicycles and I must say, you did an excellent job highlighting the features and benefits of these e-bikes! As an avid e-bike user, I'm always on the lookout for innovative designs, and now I've stumbled upon Freebeat's new Morph 2-in-1 e-Bike crowdfunding project. The indoor recharge feature truly caught my attention - being able to charge the bike while cycling indoors is a game-changer! It's impressive how this bike combines fitness and technology, providing performance insights and even converting calories into CO2-free miles. I can't wait to support this project and see the Morph eBike in action! Keep up the great content!
NOW HOLD UP. How much torque do these have? My very first thought was reverse it and come up with a mounting solution. It would be the perfect universal reverse for motorcycles. Once you start getting into the heavier bikes and dont have a fancy one with a reverse gear. They are a chore to move around even if you are strong as hell.
Donovan, you make an excellent point! While this is a fantastic idea, I don't believe it is the most practical option because it only works when the pedal assist detects movement. There is no throttle or other way to activate the system when needed, which could be inconvenient.. In my opinion, the market is currently lacking the device you need. Thank you for watching, and good luck!
@@BK42Cycles In Sweden, it is not allowed to have a gas handle on a bicycle. There are strict rules for what is a bicycle and what is not. Well that sucks for other countries then, I cycle at about 34-35km/h for I've got to ride with the traffic. Riding at 25km/h as a "brake" since you probably won't challenge the motor over that speed is actually highly risky. I'd be flattened first ride. although this might be the easiest e-bike conversion kit, that benefit becomes a negative when considering the inefficiency created, firstly normal front wheel conversion kits are almost the same level of difficulty, replacing two nuts on the front wheel and placing a new wheel isn't exactly rocket science, then screwing the battery in place being not difficult either, with the benefit being now you can ride a lot faster with less energy being wasted in friction with a two wheel system, i love the concept because how simple it is but as a commercial product it's not the best idea
As this option is not suitable since it has more tire wear due to the 2 flexions that occur, one on the ground per route and another in the grip of the equipment to the tire... In other words, you would have to buy a tire in less time than what a normal one lasts you.
