a good bit of painting - you have done a good job capturing the colours of one of my favourite birds. It always means good luck when I see one when I'm fishing.
This lure just screams sitting next a river in the UK to me. I love watching the kingfishers, they're veeeery common on my local waters. You definitely hear them before you see them! Great video always! 🎣
I can already tell, this is going to be a great lure. I’ve been making my own, if you want a summary of how it generally goes all you need to know is that i sanded my finger on a belt sander today. Lure looks good, so worth it 😂
You are a TRUE CRAFTSMAN Sir!! I Love the joy you bring to every video and the EXTENSIVE attention that you pay to every detail!! The Facts are always a great segment.. Keep up the Amazing work Brother.. you're a Joy and Blessing to many!! ~FAB
Honestly when I saw the screenshot, I thought ok, this one looks weird, however the approach you took making a top crawler bait and the detail you put into the lure made this video pretty great.
Try making another small bird lure with wings that operate similar to the mojo dove where the wings are attached together on an "axle" and the retrieval causes the rotating swimming look.
man i cannot put it into words how much i enjoy watching your vids man. by far my favorite youtuber and the only one i feel like im obligated to somehow support you. i get home from work everynight hoping you posted a new vid. lol, keep it up buddy. your sense of humor and lure making skills are off the chart!!!
I found this channel about 2 months ago.... man I really love your personality as a TH-cam creator!! So unique and basically addictive! You have a talent for talking to the camera as if it were an actual person! Idk if that’s good or just plain weird (for you) but it definitely is what makes this channel so interesting! Keep it up man and don’t you EVER change! Love ya mane (as a fan) and may god bless you and your family homie!! Also, i think many would agree that we want to see some live streaming!!! I’m sure you would get plllllleeeeenty of donations as well that could help out you and the fam! (Not assuming that you need it or anything but just saying)
Awesome! I just found your stuff a few days ago and I am addicted. I don't even care about homemade baits. I really just drown worms for panfish most of the time. This is amazing
Fun fact :those dark blue and bright blue colored kingfishers were actually the same color. Their feathers have a strongly metallic /pearlescent effect to them, making them change (perceived) color depending on the direction of the light hitting them.
I've been so lucky to have a male Kingfisher perch on my fishing rods a number of times when I've been carp fishing on the Wentworth Lakes (not a river) in Yorkshire, England! Stunning vibrant colours and somewhat tame little fellow. Just a flash of bright blue and buzzing of it's wings as it dart's past then returns to my trio of waiting rod tips. It's more like a loud pitch screach, really ear piercing as it lands and takes off!
Everytime I watch one of this guy's videos, I'm reminded of what an incredibly talented artist he truly is. His craftsmanship is really something else.
Was imagining springs to push/pull the wings forward to force the crawl. I would love to see a kingfisher 2.0! Absolutely love your channel, watching you make lures and test them is relaxing. I wish I had just a pinch of your artistic ability. Keep up the good work : )
dude, if no ones told you yet, lemme be the one to say it. your the bob ross of baits, dont quit, keep your groove going. you sir, are appreciated for your ''dopeness''
I'm a building inspector by profession. Once in a while, I've met some pretty cool people though my job. One of the funnest to meet was Henry Hoffman, famous for breeding barred rock roosters that didn't moult, and would grow extremely long neck hackles. He's world famous among fly tiers, and I was there, to inspect his furnace. Winding up this long story, he showed me two fishing flies he'd tied, one was a hummingbird, that was stunning. The other was a barn swallow, and had very small damselfly fishing fly in it's mouth. The blue kingfisher remined me of this. What a great guy he was to visit with.
Any day fishing is still a good day. I’d still kill to have that lure of you’re in my collection (my awesome lure that I don’t fish with anymore collection).
thank you, I just found your channel and have subscribe and will watch all your past videos. stay safe finally something interesting to watch on a day off thanks again
your ability to craft lures has come a long way from your early efforts. you're been in the "functional art" arena for a while now. this is gorgeous even if the action wasn't as you expected.
That's an amazing lure! I actually witnessed a small mouth suck a bird up on its second attempt to pick a insect from the surface. Pine Creek is awesome! Especially in the spring. Lots of belted kings there. Your painting detail is bad ass! Then you show the pike lure.WOW! Fabulous work.
Live and learn on the design, but a slick bait nonetheless, that you still managed to give decent action to. You keep raising your own bar on these paint jobs. Well done!
Been checking your channel for weeks waiting on a new video! Super excited every time I see a new video. Great lure needs to go next to the nice Bluegill on the wall! “On to the next bait”
You should do some larger wood carvings of wildlife you have a real talent, don't just use it on lures. I love the lures but challenge yourself with something different.
Every dad is saying ‘If all the lures caught fish they’d be called catching lures, not fishing lures!’ A truly beautiful bait, and always enjoyable to watch and listen to you work.
@14:00 might consider putting something between the brass pieces for future reference to use as a backer. whether it be wood or metal, or even done in place with the stainless there already. food for thought
Been soooooo ecited for this. Saw it on instagram and first tought it will be a humming bird when the non painted version was revealed. Keep up the good work. 👍👍
@12:00 Generally it is a good idea to use different materials for non-lubricated rubbing parts. Steel on steel has a higher friction coefficient than steel on brass. Corrosion is a significant concern in salt water, but in fresh water it should be fine.
Beautiful job on that look of that lure, to make the wings work what if you used a small 90 degree spring coiled in center that the wing pin goes through, so forces the wing forward with light pressure and when you pull through the water the wings open . So cast, lands with wings closed and start the reel in water forces wings open, stop wings close and so on, would look like swimming motion. Just a thought
Awesome! You are so talented dude! Maybe smaller hook on the back with two little trebles on the wings. Fire up the lead pot and put a little lead in the tail.
As a newish fisherman, this is one of the coolest TH-cam channels out there. The making of all these lures is just awesome. Never stop. 👌
I’ve been binging so much Marling videos that I tried to make my own lure, I now have a ton more respect for lure makers
I make some lures I’m still new to it i started a week ago or so and I’ve made one that works and I’ve made like 4 or 5
It’s a good day when marling posts
Yep
yes
yep
Heard that.
You can say that again
The clarity and quality of the video was fabulous. A great watch as always. Thanks and God bless.
Great to see some of the old Marling Baits creativity again!
That 'laughing noise' the kookaburra makes gets me every time at 6am when i'm trying to fall back asleep! Greetings from Aus
I love how watching any of these vids is like watching a Disney movie. Mostly wholesome with dirty but subtle humor throughout
probably one of my favourite paintjobs that youve done
Made my day seeing this go up! I’ve been wondering what you haven’t done yet. Never thought of a king fisher!
YES! I love Marling Baits
This made being stuck in hurricane evacuation traffic so much more bearable lol keep being awesome my guy
Stay safe buddy
Is it hurrican Ida, if so its gonna suck when it hits because im staying
Dam cat 4 hurricane boit to hit and im staying on hurricane katrina anaversity
be safe

Liked it all but perfect with the clear coat

Really enjoyed the subtle jazz

Nice to be able to start Saturday with a video from Marling Baits! Thanks for the Fun Facts! Wishing you a glorious Saturday!
Honestly when I saw the screenshot, I thought ok, this one looks weird, however the approach you took making a top crawler bait and the detail you put into the lure made this video pretty great.
Amazed at your skills - spoiled me because other videos lack your creativity. Plus, 💖 your baby & GSD 😊
Your the most creative and artistic fisherman on TH-cam!! 👍🏻🎣🔥
I like the fun facts. I learn something every time I watch one of your videos.

It would be cool if you did a series of different style Muskie lures, and then go on a Muskie charter and only use the lures you made
Yes bro
Best idea I’ve heard, ever
@@jacksonruehr7180 It's a great idea, but you need to get our more.
Here in France I often see Europeans kingfishers when I go to a riverbank and they are ✨beautiful ✨! Keep crafting amazing lures and have a good day !
You should make a blue whale lure that has fins like this bird lure or a hump back lure thats jointed in the middle that would be really cool
Man I've been watching your channel for a few years now, and I gotta say that is one of the best looking baits you've made.
You should make another wooden reel, maybe a bait caster. What ever happened to the one you made?
Its probably somewhere in the shop if i had to guess, he wouldnt throw it away after that process
There’s a very special art craftsmanship to what you do, but very funny at the same time. 🤣🤣
Favorite comment “that’s with a L”. You have the best balance of entertainment and skills. Great content man!
Love how you jumped out there and tried someone new.

I’ve only been fishing once but marling baits are literal masterpieces of art 🎣

I was just thinking today I haven’t had a Marling Baits Episode in a while!
I'm rewatching all your videos and this one is my favorite looking lure. I'd just display it because it looks so nice 👌
The brass music playing during painting after the “splotchy random thing” though.. 🔥🔥🔥20:44
Yes! I tried to SoundHound it with no results. Any clue the name of this track?
@@evanlarr6130 no idea but pretty fantastic, shazam had no idea
I love that at the end of the videos he puts the funny clips! Makes me laugh every time!😂

Who else can appreciate that he’s playing Tyler Childers.
Nose to the grindstone one of my favorites or rock salt and nails.
@@hannable3871 same and all of his
I came to the comments to say this
loved it
Iridescence is the best description of the blue on the real bird. Nice job
I so badly want one of these beautiful lures but I would be extremely afraid to throw it and risk losing it. Love the videos!

Awesome video! Just a quick question, does that lure fish more effectly?
It should!
It's getting a birds eyes view of the waterboddy. 🤣😝
I absolutely lost it when you paused to look at that freakin dookie someone dropped there 🤣 😂
Live and learn on the design, but a slick bait nonetheless, that you still managed to give decent action to. You keep raising your own bar on these paint jobs. Well done!
I love the videos that shows you making unique animals for lures. You've got me wanting to try and make my own lures
Why doesn’t he have millions of views ?😭😭
The way you carved the legs and feet with a utility knife is amazing!!
A light torsion spring around those pins with push those wind forward and give you a swimming action.
You are getting crazy good! Love all of the techniques you use throughout each build. Keep being you!
I would love to be able to make lures like that
Two hours ago I got the urge to watch your video and my prayers have been answered lol
Inspired me to make lures, I am now an avid superglueandbakingsoda enjoyer.
I look forward to Friday nights. Getting off work and haven’t a beverage and watching your vids.
Try putting small treble hooks on the wings or another treble hook on the belly. Maybe they aren't attacking the bait at the rear.

Kookaburra: “Cooka-burrah”.
Not uncommon for them to take small snakes and lizards. Been known to steal sausages during public barbecues.
I've had my steak stolen by one before it was a sad day

Duck decoys popped into my head when I read this comment. Still outdoor and water related, and very colorful!

Hey
Hi
the glitter stuff in the coating really did it´s job :D looking fantastic
If you caught a fish every time it would be called "catching " and not fishing.
Worth the wait! Lots of work but it's cool you're trying different things. I totally support the toucan bait 👍
Top 5 fun facts of all time guaranteed, for sure, no doubt about it, untouched, unscathed, remarkable, distinguished, pure excellence
congrats on 7years on youtube, keep up the good work much appreciated.
I really have to say that your editing for your videos is getting increasingly more hilarious.
that wing action reminds me of those "Bird of Paradise" courtship dances. With the dramatic flailing of the wings lol.
Beautiful. More art than bait . The line tye will never hold.
