Great video Rick!! I tried hooking my ESU cab to my laptop before using the router and I moved it to the train room and all that mess. Now that I've seen this I'm able to use my laptop without moving the router. Love it!! Thanks for doing the research and sharing much appreciated!! Now to go wireless with my phone lol. Have a good day and stay safe. Happy modeling!! -Jason

JMRI-Pi is also a great cost effective solution for small layouts !

In one button, can you program the road/horn crossing?

yes you can. just not sure how. I know SP gp38 has that setup for a function key.

Thank you, very cool. I use JMRI on my iMac with Control Panel to control my switches and WiThrottle on my iPhone and find it very useful, not to mention Decoder Pro is wonderful. My comment is .. the user interface in JMRI is very clunky and could use a total rewrite. Now before I receive lots of negative comments I wish to inform all that I am retired EE/Physics and I have done my share of writing gui's in Java . I think a new gui for JMRI would be a good software project that a young software person could put on his/her resume... Any thoughts?

I do like all that jmri can do but I totally agree. it's what I call a hot mess. feels like I'm back on windows 3.1

Ok. I’ll have to update the firmware on my cab control and mc2 and try this. Wonder what if any limit on the built in wifi for number of wifi throttles it can take?

@socalscalemodels ok Rick. Finally got time to update the firmware on the Cab Control and MC2 and try connecting jmri to the Cab Control via wifi. It worked! Even able to start the jmri wifi server and use the android engine driver connected to jmri server to run a loco.
      Thanks for the tip, Rick!
