  • Today I'll show you how I run my sugarwash through an air still and adding flavour to your spirit.

      Yes I got this bag from The Range in the BBQ section I've also reused the chips giving them a blast with the blow torch for extra char. Bag was around £7

      Yes I've used the still spirits in the past but highly reccomend the JD barrel chips. I've got my hands on some lovely American white oak which I'll feature soon with baking and charring the wood.

      @@stillbrewing great I will keep a look out for it glad you replied I forgot to sub, what amount of chips would you recommended to use as I say I'm new to wood chips

      I'm old school with measures lol. I use a handful per 2 litres. You can always add more. If you prefer a darker spirit use more charred pieces in your handful. taste regularly. When your happy remove the wood or bottle. You'll see quality results within 48 hours but personally my sweet spot seems to be 4-7 days. And thanks for the sub!

    ive been advised to stop at 800ml, how much av you drawn off after this that is ok to use ? i was thinking, first 800ml for spirits,if after that use rest for liquerier's ?

      Hi Russ we are stepping into cuts territory here. As a general rule following still spirits equipment and recommended sugar washes 700-800ml is advised after removing the first 50ml after that you risk entering the tails portion of your wash you will notice the change in flavour often described as wet cardboard.

      Another guide you can use is a copper parrot again as a general rule you risk tails when your wash starts producing less than 50%

    What spray do you use to sterilise

    • @stillbrewing
      @stillbrewing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That one is a no rinse steriliser that has been made up into a spray bottle. (Cant think of name off top of my head) It's not essential for this process but if you wanted an instant sanitiser I would reccomend Chemsan the English version of starsan.
