Nice thanks for all this info
Very helpful video, thank you!
Thank you for the video my homemade brew has unfortunately turn to vinegar 😢 . I will bottle it from now on.
Thanks mate. You just saved my bacon/fruit melomel. Thank god I was home and just happened to see the airlock spewing my new batch out onto my shelf. I never had one need a blow off! So just in the nick of time. Cheers buddy. Liked and subscribed now!
I bought a cider kit like this but it already had the hole drilled and tap supplied. It came with two seals. I emailed the company and asked how many seals to use, the girl emailed me back and said one seal, on the inside. Well, it's a good job I done a water test first 😂 I figured out from your video that the seal goes on the outside. The water doesn't leak now so it should be secure. By the way, my tap has a mechanism so it twists left or right, cool 👍
Excellent!
🍻
Man show some close up shots
Did this bastard die ?
What brand air still is that?
I dont sterilise my fruit and suger wash and only brew so i can drink 70 or 80% with ice and coke. good video m8 ;)...
🙏
I want to buy
Very nice
All should be available at your local brewing shop or online 👍
Won't it explode? I guess we "burp" it?
Is there any reason why I couldn't use a blow off tube all the time? I just bought a Big Mouth Bubbler and it's just a little too tall to fit in my fermentation chamber. But if I used a blow off tube I'd be fine.
Absolutely 👍 you could make it a lot neater as a permanent fixture/solution.
I had the same question. How can you tell when your fermentation will be explosive? I have only brewed two batches of beer, both the same clone recipe of Chimay Blue. The only difference is that I used liquid yeast for the first batch and dry yeast for the second batch. The second batch was explosive. Fortunately, I was watching closely, and I cleaned out the airlock several times. The dry yeast fermented in less than two days, compared to 8-9 days for the liquid yeast, but the end product was virtually identical. I prefer the faster fermentation if I can deal with the blow off, so I plan to just use a blow-off tube for all future brews.
I have yet to brew anything but the same thought has occured to me. The two-piece airlock would be difficult to clean so I would opt for the three piece or do this. Its an airlock without the gadget and easy to maintain sterile environment.
Did you did any yeast dumps during that fermentation.
No videos for a year did you die of covid or get arrested for distilling lol ? , shame m8 i just saw a video of yours and was going to subscribe...
I have been tied up with work and babies 👶 still brewing but not had much time for filming and editing I have some new projects coming soon tho thanks for watching 😃
I leave mine two weeks than a week in the bottles than four weeks in a cool place than its done
2 time my wine changed in vinigar, so before Fedamentation i used Pottasium metabisulfite then I wait 24 hours then I add yeast but Fedamentation is not started
Just had the same issue today, woke up to a flippin' geyser did this, washed the sticky mess, but am running late to work now, lol... watching yt on a train
Hi, do you use any sugar or a carb drop to keep them bubbles before you cap? Or don’t you use them?
Sorry Vicky missed this question, yes the bottles were already primed for this video.
Dear,Today i taste it after 10 days, it taste like vinegar,if i add sugar and yeast and leave it for month can it convert it into vine, plz reply
Unfortunately once the process has begun it is irreversible. Either toss the lot or let it ride and make your own vinegar.
Hi, I'm from Sri Lanka. Most Sri Lankan's make wine out of king coconut water. This is my first time I'm trying to make wine out of king coconut water. I started my batch yesterday (19th June 2021). But today it's smells like sour, but doesn't taste sour. My ingredients are, king coconut water/ sugar/ yeast/ lime juice and some spices ( cardamom, cinnamon and cloves ). Do you have any idea what's happening?. Shall I keep it until it's done?.
Sounds delicious! Are you able to test the PH? Its possible your wash is quite acidic with the lime juice
@@stillbrewing actually I didn't check the PH. I do have a ph tester but I don't have calibration fluids with me. I also have a doubt about the acidity. Do you think that I smell sourness in my wash because of the lime?
@@keith_ferdinanduz if you haven't checked the pH there's not much point in continuing to ask any questions, it's like asking "think I have a fever? I haven't used a thermometer"
@@VeggieRice ok genius!.
are you a bronze god?
One of my old favorite songs for a pub closing, lol. Good info to experiment on my next wash, although I think I have to skip the banana & supplement with potassium i. I did do a banana wine once & it tasted like feet!!! So I ended up converting the wine into a distilled spirit that tasted somewhat like feet even after filtering it twice. Going to do a 90 Liter batch
Keep us posted with the results! and what potassium are you using?
@@stillbrewing I my self use Centrum A to Zinc, so I will probably crush 4-8 tablets with a couple of a cheap b-complex tablets with some DAP depending on the quantity and recommendations I find online in regard to the yeast needs. For now, I'm researching how many vitamins & at what quantities I need to use, that's how I found your video.
Cheers mate,very helpful..👍
Which cap did you buy? What is the best brand, please? Sometimes the quality will change just looks the same. Thank you
This one was actually gifted to me by a friend but it would be quite interesting to do a review of the various Brands and styles available 👍
I'm fu#*ed.. This is like my 100th time I've made wine, but this time when I transferred the wine to the second fermenter after removing the pulp. After 5 days I see what's looking like "the mother of vinegar" In my fermenter... I know that's game over for this batch.. F-ing sucks... (It was bubbling till the 3rd day after the transfer)
I'm sorry for your loss 😉 1 out of 100 is good odds to be fair! Review your process what did you do different this time?
Nice hobby while in lockdown
Build yourself a electric still like mine it works a treat mate
Any links?
You definitely need a bigger still
Nice one mate

I've found an old woodfordes kit that I'm planning on giving a go. Very interested in how yours turns out. I'm planning on using a Belgian yeast in mine
Everything worked out fine. I've still yet to bottle it due to work and family commitments but I have drawn off a sample which was lovely. Not my usual tipple but a nice tipple! Good luck with yours 👍
High loved the video, bought this kit from wilko today l. First go. How much primer sugar you add and is it possible to increase the ABV?
Yes the kit recommends a kilo of brewing sugar to make 23l at 4% abv. I used two cans and spray malt to make 25l at 4.5% the more fermentables you add the higher the abv but each will change the flavour profile.
@@stillbrewing did you complete a third video for this one? What does the addition of the spray malt do to the beer. Sorry if these questions are little dumb
@@haydnmaxwell649 no I supped it before I could make a third video 🍻 the spray malt is another fermentable which increases abv but it also gives more body to the beer. If you want a crisper lager style I would reccommend just using brewing sugar
I created vinegar but turned alcohol after a month and I thought it is spoiled and can’t get vinegar out of it again so, this alcohol now was sweet taste though less sugary taste in it even after a month so, I lid tight alcohol... In days later turn little acidic than sugary so I am now adding tea spoon sugar to maintain wine from to maintain it’s alcoholic level... So, now 2 tea sugar in it I stored in a refrigerator...? ?!! .... I don’t know what I am doing...?? I should have let that alcohol turning slowly acidic.... So, acidic means it now turned into vinegar? Can I use that same alcohol lid slightly open to make a vinegar or it will be a spoiled one?
That is one amazing helper you have there. He even managed to get some sneaky product placement in. :-) Well done that chap. I have a Mangrove Jacks Pink Grapefruit IPA, Bavarian Wheat Beer and will be putting on the Juicy Session IPA next weekend. I am leaving a few brews to condition and mature until the middle of May. Looking forward to BBQ Season. Juicy Session IPA gets great reviews, what would you give it out of 10 as a kit?
Nice selection roll on BBQ weather! It really is a good beer cant think of a negative so 10/10! its a kit I'll always resort to when entertaining.
@@stillbrewing Thanks so much for the feedback. Yes I will have loads for the BBQ Season, Pink Grapefruit IPA, Oaked Apple Cider, James Blonde Ale, Bavarian Wheat Beer and Juicy Session IPA. I'm not touching any of it until my Birthday in the middle of May. Looking forward to trying them all, but really looking forward to the Pink Grapefruit IPA and Juicy Session IPA. Cheers.
I've just attempted my first ale. Bottling day today so we will see how that goes. I've got in all the ingredients to make what you just have. I've been told to leave it for two weeks at start then three weeks or so in the bottle? How long did you leave yours in the bottle before chilling/drinking?
A lot of people follow the 2-2-2 rule. 2 week fermenting two week bottled in a warm place and two week chilling before drinking but the longer you can leave it the better. Your last bottle will always be your best. On this occasion I supped it all in a couple of weeks lol
Great videos, lots of info. Just started my first brew and it's the Bohemian Blonde Pils.
Thanks Chris welcome to the channel! if theres anything I can help you with just ask.there are so many good kits out there I've not had a bad one yet 🤞
I'd be interested to know how it finishes up.
Me too! It's been actively fermenting, so far so good. I believe it's now 9 days since pitching yeast so looking forward to racking and bottling in the next few days 👍
is that jack daniels chips for BBQ smoke or for spirits?
Yes I got this bag from The Range in the BBQ section I've also reused the chips giving them a blast with the blow torch for extra char. Bag was around £7
@@stillbrewing just started using wood chips there around £10 on ebay for still Spirit chips 100g bag I was thinking they must be the same thing
Yes I've used the still spirits in the past but highly reccomend the JD barrel chips. I've got my hands on some lovely American white oak which I'll feature soon with baking and charring the wood.
@@stillbrewing great I will keep a look out for it glad you replied I forgot to sub, what amount of chips would you recommended to use as I say I'm new to wood chips
I'm old school with measures lol. I use a handful per 2 litres. You can always add more. If you prefer a darker spirit use more charred pieces in your handful. taste regularly. When your happy remove the wood or bottle. You'll see quality results within 48 hours but personally my sweet spot seems to be 4-7 days. And thanks for the sub!
Just starting my home brewing with the Bohemian Blonde Pils kit, and your videos have been really helpful and informative. My grandparents were both prolific home brewers (beers, wines and spirits) so looking forward to seeing how I get on.
Just used web site, super easy to use and print off . Very happy free labels. 😀 Great informative videos for a new starter. Many thanks.
How long do you leave in it the other barrel with the sugar before bottling to let the sugar mix in?
Bottle straight after adding the priming sugar 👍
@@stillbrewing Many thanks, might get the barrel, just did my first home brew and filling 40 bottles straight from the drum via a syphon made a bit of a mess. Thanks for the videos very good. 👍
Yeah I bet! So much easier with the wand and tap.
ive been advised to stop at 800ml, how much av you drawn off after this that is ok to use ? i was thinking, first 800ml for spirits,if after that use rest for liquerier's ?
Hi Russ we are stepping into cuts territory here. As a general rule following still spirits equipment and recommended sugar washes 700-800ml is advised after removing the first 50ml after that you risk entering the tails portion of your wash you will notice the change in flavour often described as wet cardboard.
Another guide you can use is a copper parrot again as a general rule you risk tails when your wash starts producing less than 50% th-cam.com/video/hzH2alBTu6Y/w-d-xo.html
Hi Still Brewing, where did you get the Cascade Hops from? TIA Gary
