  • Today is my birthday, and I've been reflecting on the past year of my life. My son was born just over a year ago, and I've learned a tremendous amount about myself and life in general from the experience, which I'd like to share. (Also, stick around to the end, because... there's something kinda exciting to announce.)

CONGRATS! TWO KIDS?! AWESOME! But, if God's allowing another child, it might be seem as a blessing to some, Pravus. You'll be a amazing father, and I know it might not be much coming from some stranger, or just one of your viewers... But, God sends us messages and he's always here for us. He's here for you and your wife, and now your children as well.
Happy Parenthood, Pravus. You've helped many of us with laughs, pride, joy, and entertainment. So, as I already said: Thanks for the content, and Happy Parenthood. (On top of another Congratulations, because ya know what? Why not!)

The first day back from the hospital, our little guy slept in between us on our bed. We didn't sleep a wink. I was 23 and my wife was 21. He's now 25 in law school. He and his brother who's 23 are the best things I've ever done. It never gets old. The milestones continue no matter their age and I love it.

I’ve got two, 13 and 10. They have been life changing, and definitely for the better. As they’ve grown up, I’ve had some of the best experiences playing games with them, coaching their various sports teams, watching them perform music, it has 100% been worth it. The best piece of advice is to sacrifice your personal gratification to make their lives that much better. Spend time with them. Remember, they’ll be choosing your nursing home😂 Wonderful news that you’re expecting again! Two are always better than one! Enjoy everything you do, have done, and will continue to do for the channel. But like always, keep your family and your sanity first. Your cultists aren’t going anywhere.

What's wild about this is that way back when he first talked about his son, he and his wife were having trouble at having a kid at all, and now only a little over a year has pasted and they already have another one. The human body has a really weird way of doing things.

Awesome! This is really reassuring. It's rare to hear people talk about the up-side of parenting instead of just the costs and sacrifices. The information out there on the financial cost of raising kids is also all over the place and somewhat negative. Yet even tho i've seen articles saying it costs between $30k-$250k per year to raise a child, I also know a lot of people who come from big families with 4-7 kids and it makes me really wonder what the true cost of having/raising a child is.
Still, all that aside, i'm glad you shared that with us. It makes me feel a lot better about my relationship and my plans for the future! I'm glad to hear the c-section went smoothly. I hope that the next one also goes well!

Congratulation Pravus and Ainyaly, and many happy returns for your birthday Pravus.
I have enjoyed your content for a few years now and one reason is the down to earth and honest person you are in the videos. That honesty and truthfulness really shines forth in this video it makes me so happy to have subbed and followed you. I am an uncle to a niece and nephew, and through various family dynamics I was their father figure in helping them grow up from birth to a 26 year old nephew and an 18 year old niece, and all you said about the hard work and joys of having a child is so true even though I was not their 'father'.
I am really pleased for you in growing your dynasty and can feel how much of a great parent you are and will continue to be. xxx

Congrats Pravus. Since my son was also born around the same time as your kid, I recognize a lot of what you´re telling. Boy do you forget a lot. I wanted to add that the overwhelimg dad feels never happened to me (nor my wife). Just more like you kinda said, a feeling of ´i gotta take care of you now´ for both of us, but not an instant ´i´m a parent now´. So for anyone not having the instant feels, it´s just as normal. You are not a bad or worse parent for it.

Congratulations Pravus on the new baby, the last 15 months and on your birthday. As a father of five children (last one is a sophomore in High School) I understand and concur with what you have said. Just wanted to say that you can teach your son sign language (simple stuff) and they can use it to communicate. It worked with my kids and helps reduce their frustration when they can tell you that they want 'more' of something to eat or a 'cookie' and not a 'banana' (or my personal favorite, when they sign "sorry" after farting). As to the new baby, you would be surprised how exited toddlers are about baby siblings.

I am sure you will when they are older but take advantage of coaching them in sports (even if you have no idea what your doing) just the fact of being in their lives is what they care about. My middle son who is 16 wants to be an aerospace engineer. He enrolled himself in an engineering magnet school and even at 16 has just excelled in life. Enjoy the journey, film them often (time flies and now its so crazy to watch them when they were younger on those videos, and just have fun. Congrats again!!

Congrats man, all the best for all of you. I have just left home for the first time to go to university, and I owe it all to my parents for being amazing and wonderful people. They’re not always perfect, it’s taken a lot to get them to accept me as trans. But they love me. My dad and I are going to hop online every weekend and play some videogames together, and I promise you that that experience between a father and child is so special, feeling important enough that your dad takes time out of his day just to sit down and play videogames with you. You’re an awesome dad Pravus, enjoy every second of it

My mom was the same way. I was an accident child so she was both excited but absolutely terrified as this was not remotely planned. Of course, I didn't make it easy: I was premature due to my heart rate tanking (so it was either C-section or lose me) and had to go to the ER at 8mo as I had a fever that could have killed me. She had absolutely no regrets though as I turned out a lot like her and got to teach her stuff too. Not to mention having 2 kids close in age made things sooooo much easier.
Edit: you touched on marriage well. Watching my mom, it is all compromise and not just pure bliss. Stuff will happen, you will bicker but what matters is how it is handled together. Just because you love a person doesn't mean it will be sunshine and rainbows.

My daughter was a planned c-section, conveniently scheduled. The birth resembeled a clown pulling an endless line of handkerchiefs, or the intro to spaceballs. they just kept pulling what seemed like an endless baby.
My son was supposed to be a natural birth, but halfway through labor decided to turn around. So it was an emergency c-section. In the surgical room it looked more like a bunch of doctors and nurses trying to pull a root out, or involved in a tug of war. It took 2 doctors a nurse and the anesthesiologist all pulling on this foot that's sticking ot of my wife's stomach pulling like crazy. It took over a minute of pulling to get him out, and then they had to keep an eye on him because of the time it took to get him out.

Congrats on your second too. Having our second daughter after our first (about 2 years apart) has been a blessing for us. My oldest enjoyed watching over her as a baby like a doll and as they have gotten older I have seen them grow extremely close just like Bluey and Bingo in the Bluey tv show. So, something that I think would help take Provus' mind off of his wife's health (assuming his worries are just paranoia) would be putting up another Minecraft series. I'm thinking that it could be a showcase of the MineColonies mod, which will turn the game into a bit of a city builder seen from a first-person perspective as the player is turned into the lord/mayor. There are elements like having to research buildings at a university before you can order your NPC builder to construct them, needing a hospital to treat disease outbreaks like the flu or measles, and setting up resource harvesters like miners, foresters, and farmers to gather stuff you might need, refiners to process those resources, couriers to come to collect, store, and deliver those resources where needed, and a lot more I'm probably not able to think of right now. Especially, playing the "All the Mods 9" mod pack will allow this and the projectE mod, which is a modern and rebalanced version of the Equivalent Exchange mod that was the main source of resources in Tekkit season 1, and the Thermal Series mod, which is the ore duplication mod from season 2. As for non-minable resources like leather, I'd suggest getting into Ars Nouveau, a magic mod in the pack, and setting up a dribny, a tiny little humanoid guy with deer antlers on his head, in an automated farm for those things, but be warned, automated response generation is a pretty advanced thing in the mod, and you'll need a LOT of gold to craft the manufacturing tools and wireless energy relays the mod relies on.
Also, I'd get ready for getting the son he's got into anger management classes. If the kiddo's size is an indication, he might have Jacob's syndrome, where basically he was born with two copies of Provus' Y chromosome, and one symptom is mild gigantism, and another is massively reduced emotional control, and it's the latter factor that I'd be worried about as the kid grows, like what happens when his parents try to discipline him short of having the cops arrest him, and how can they be sure that he's not going to get into trouble by getting into other fights with other kids in school?

And you will go into child time. If it normally take 5 minutes, now take 15 minutes and you are okey with it.

I have recently stumbled on a video discussing The Giving Tree and the implication of that story. The good, the bad but also one of the central themes the youtuber considered important to the story. And that was that unconditionally giving CAN be fulfilling and bring happiness. It should not be the goal to run yourself ragged to give everything but the act of giving itself can be/is fulfilling.

Finally! Someone who is saying how it is. Thank you for this! I can't stand the mega positive insta parenthood. This is exactly how it is. Yes it is a mayor sacrifice BUT totally worth it!!! Live my kids.
Congratulations! Mind you, the say the second one is easier. And that my youtube friend, is (mostly) true. It is not easy, it's easier.
    Thank you for sharing!

My first for many months, almost a year, slept from 7pm to 9am every day. She lulled us into a false sense of security, and me and my wife then got pregnant again. Now that we have two, well... Good luck. It's interesting how much is the same and how much is so very different. The first cautious and conservative and not even walking until 2 (did bum shuffling into knee-walking), the second, climbing bookcases at age 1. The first, talking and telling me what ahe ia doing at all times, the second, when its silent i need to go searching because who knows what he could be doing.

    Fatherhood can be many things
I certainly know raising my youngest son was very different than how my father approached raising me and my brother.
    Partly, that’s personality, partly circumstances.
And that’s just how it is.
Good luck on your journey and congratulations to you and the missus

Man so much of what you said resonated with me. I had my little girl in 2018 followed by a boy in 2020. My wife and I are both gamers and before kids the routine would be - come home in the evening from work, fire up the computers, one would begrudgingly make dinner and then we would play WOW all evening until 11 at night. Though we had loads of game time we both felt something was missing in our lives. Once my little girl was born, gaming went out the window, we were both exhausted from lack of sleep, we made our lives harder than we should have with little mistakes but you are learning as first time parents. Once we had two kids there was even less time for games and we saw Shadowlands come and go as well as Dragonflight however that feeling of something was missing in our lives was completely gone. It was as if life was nudging us to take the next step in our lives and its been a blessing ever since. Our gaming now involves sitting in the living room together playing Mario Kart or Luigi's mansion on the Switch with the kids. Kids are hard but like most things that are hard its worth it and feels rewarding. Enjoy your son. They grow up very fast and soon you will find yourself looking back at videos on your phone of when they were toddlers or Threenagers and missing those stages.

All these experiences are really nice to hear! I'm not a father, and I'm apprehensive about becoming one. But hearing first hand what some of the experiences are, and that we'll be ok, is very comforting.
All the best to you and your family.

My son was the same but 10 days early, the whole dangerous blood pressure thing, induce for a couple of days then c section.
They told me he might have problems. So I retired to stay home with him. Shut down my 30 year old multi national consultancy. He was fine, no health issues, Thanks be to God.
