  • Maybe feeling a bit left out of all the recent APS-C excitement, Sony has just released a trio of APS-C wide angle zooms aimed at vloggers.: a 10-20mm F4 power zoom, 15mm F1.4 and 11mm F1.8. Is one of these the right choice for your vlogging needs? Chris Niccolls is on it.
    Note: The blurriness of some shots was caused by a defective lens, not one of the ones reviewed.

      I saw one review of this new lens praising it while also comfortably saying that the 10-18 is old and basically not worth buying in 2022. That rubbed me the wrong way as I'm sure the 10-18 still is a very competent ans useful lens.
      I've been following that reviewer for years and his comment means I'll definitely view his videos with a different perspective from now on.

    • @saifaldin_
      @saifaldin_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pergunnareriksson The biggest problem with the 10-18 was sample variation. If one manage to get a lens that’s not de-centred, then it that’s quite a good setup (especially for video). I particularly like the size and weight of that lens. Having said that, even on the best copies, the outer edges never really get super sharp when stopped down - at least not compared to some newer offerings.

    • @Folly_Inds
      @Folly_Inds 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pergunnareriksson There was some manufacture issues with the early makes for the 10-18 but I've got a later one I picked up used, and it works just fine. certainty for the sort of hobby use I get out of it.

  • @KlipsenTube

    Sony did create the NEX line to reduce size, weight and price, but have since worked toward increasingly bulky, heavy and expensive camera bodies and lenses. Even the A6600 is much bigger than any NEX, and, with mostly FF lenses being introduced since the FE mount appeared, many E mount owners were probably feeling a bit disillusioned in Sony's intentions with APS-C, so this is very good news.
    My days of carrying an A900 body and several big, heavy lenses on long trips are gone. Today, the A6600 and two or three light lenses - now including the 10-20 mm - is all I want and need.

    I see those lens like a way for sony to say "APSC is not dead, we will come back soon" and it gives me hope. Their APSC dont need a lot to be killer camera, just ibis every where with good active stab, 422 10bit, 4k60, less rolling shutter, and voilà..Those 3 very wide and light lens are also a déclaration that sony apsc will/are/want to become the "vlog king" and kill the game, 11mm f1.8 will have heavy success if they pull the good apsc camera that go with it.

      When I see the fuji xhs2, it s great but 2500dollar/euro...I would just go full frame (A7 IV) for the price (and fuji apsc are big/heavy and expensive lens, close to FF)...so I still hope that sony will manage impressive apsc in a light weight, small package, moderate price. and I m not sure it s possible (especially with stacked sensor)

    Here's hoping for a Sony a6700 (or whatever number) with IBIS, dual UHS-II / CFExpress Type A card slots, a high-res viewfinder, 4K 60p, and 10-bit 4:2:2.
    Sony needs to fire back at the Canon R7 and Fuji X-H2S with a true APS-C flagship.

    • @Penguins247
      @Penguins247 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's a given; a camera based around the 26MP stacked CMOS APS-C that appeared in the Fuji X-HS2 can't be far off. That will enable Sony to produce a killer A6600 successor :)

    This glass is really needed for APS-C shooters on Sony. The majority of hikers in America who deploy heavy hitters, deploy Sony APS-C. This glass is going to sell like hot cakes to backpackers with APS-C Sony A6600 & A6400. I think this is awesome because it will keep the minnows well fed and let the sharks like me troll with the A1 / 16-35GM & in 2024 the 24GMII F1.2

  • @robertsaca3512

    Imagine putting this disclaimer in instead of re-shooting, as any professional who's proud of their output would.
    It's no wonder so many don't take you seriously, especially when it comes to video.
    The composition of the opening scene was horrendous and has nothing to do with a defective lens.
