I went to Film school in New York and I am Sri Lankan. All books on Documentary film making mention Basil Wright's Song of Ceylon. Back then the Ceylonese were seen as the aboriginal's and one of the races connected to southern Europeans viz Greeks and Iberians.

It's just been released on DVD, " Addressing the Nation: The GPO Film Unit Collection Volume One". It's about £25 but there's loads of other stuff with it!
